“FRIENDLY STAFF, LOVELY ROOM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Had a lovely break staying in a Tower Room - lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean, good airconditioner and all facilities were in good order. Highly recommended! Although I understand all the rooms are good. The roman blinds were a bit dodgy affecting the sea view from the bed. I reported this to the lovely housekeeper, who was friendly and helpful throughout. It is what it says on the tin - a boutique hotel, not absolute top of the range, but very comfortable and extremely well run. It is owned and directly managed by a family who take great care and interest.
Location is very convenient, close to St George, Airport and local town True Blue, and the Dodgy Dock Bar and Dining area on a deck on the bay is really nice with lots of shade as well as sun for the sun worshippers. Breakfast was extremely good, extensive buffet plus eggs made to order. Food in the Dodgy Dock for lunch and dinner is also good and happily not excessively priced, and despite expecting it to be slow, service was reasonably quick, especially for an island.

I was there primarily to scuba dive and it was the Ideal place to stay. Aquanauts the resident dive operation is excellent, very good boats, efficient, excellent kit in good order, and experienced, professional staff who were still fun and friendly - just what you want for a diving holiday!

I would not hesitate to return to the True Blue Hotel. It does not have a beach but unless you want to swim in the sea, there is an infinity pool right by the water that is designed like a beach with real sand and sail-style gazebos and sun loungers, plus another pool. If beaching is what you want, there is a daily shuttle to Grand Anse beach, the main large beach of the island, 5 minutes away.

Go Soon and have a Fantastic Trip! I will be back.

Room Tip: Tower Suite was terrific. Higher priced than the range of Rooms, really spacious and comfortable...

My wife and I stayed at the True Blue Bay Resort for a week in May 2013 and wish we had stayed for longer.

True Blue is not a five star hotel, but doesn't pretend to be. It doesn't have a long golden sandy beach, but doesn't claim to have one. It is a relaxed and friendly resort on the water's edge with two swimming pools, a lively bar and restaurant. The rooms are large and clean, the staff friendly and always eager to help, the food good and the rum punch excellent. It also has a dive centre within its grounds so if like me you are a keen scuba diver, you couldn't ask for more.

We had great clean rooms with views, cold airconditioning and service at True Blue.

The food and service was excellent at the Dodgy Dock restruart at True Blue. The specials each night were great. The desert sampler was really special.

Positives:
- The staff are fantastic. Very friendly, and want to help. Maids were chatty, concierge was great and made a number of top recommendations (she also likes racing around the resort on a golf cart which looks like a lot of fun)
- The view from our room was beautiful, right across True Blue bay
- The room itself. Amazing bed, great a/c, and a little kitchen unit
- The bar on the Dodgy Dock. One of the nicest places to drink a Carib and enjoy the warmth of the evenings
- The pool was lovely, plenty of shade for reading a book, and clean warm water for cooling off
- Proximity to Aquanauts dive centre, get up; eat tasty breakfast; go diving
- Talking of breakfast, the lady who makes the omelettes is lovely, and her omelettes (and pancakes) were delicious

Drawbacks:
- Shower was not good. It constantly changed temperature and pressure (no similar issues with taps, so perhaps there was something wrong with it?)
- The food at the Dodgy Dock was average. Not bad, but pretty basic and expensive

We felt that the hotel was a little isolated but it depends on how adventurous you are; you end up getting taxis into town/Grand Anse if you don't want to eat at the Dodgy Dock. If you work it out, 50-80EC on taxis each night is cheaper than car hire though. And if you do hire a car, you'll be fine!

We have stayed here a number of times. It's not 5 star but the location is good, the rooms clean and well furnished and the staff are friendly and really try hard to make you welcome. There isn't really a beach but the pool locations are very well done and pleasant to use. The Dodgy Dock bar/restaurant is a great concept and a fun place, the food being fair. Excellent breakfast.

Room Tip: Good selection of rooms. Quiet ones up the hill, waterfront view rooms and also tower rooms for a vi...
