This place was like a shaddy motel. The linens were shappy and cheap. The ammenities were cheap too. The lightbilbs were going out in the lamps. They have the alternate current so that you have to get a converter--with all the electronics--change the electricity also. The security guards were harassing--as a black woman--always asking if I was a guest--they did not do that to any white people on the property--once the guy ran me down like a linebacker, out of breath to ask if I was a guest thenhad the nerve to get an attitude when I told him off. As a paying guest--there wasnt any courtesy. There was active construction, hammering, drilling and painting going on underneath my room and across the garden. The water sports people made noise from 8am like there were no one in the rooms above them. At the end of the stay--problems with the bill--it would seem that they just wanted to make money off the tourists. An 18 percent tax and 10 percent service charge made this a complete ripoff. So, the staff worked for the bare minimum and then the tax took you to the cleaners. 310 dollars a night--for what??? Just dont go there--pick another resort where they know how to treat people. There website is a misrepresentation of the rooms, food and staff. Its a pretty place if they had staff that was friendly, drinks that tasted good, and rooms that looked decorated for the price you paying. Beach or no beach, view or not, will NEVER stay there again. Crown Plaza cannot fix this broken place. Cracks in the buildings, mild growing up the walls outside near the drainage pipes. Leet me not tell you about the bathroom vents--filthy dirty!!! It did not work anyway, the mirror stayed fogged up. Soap dishes dirty--fixtures rusted, floors scratched up---no glowing report on these rooms at all. It wasnt worth any amount of money....period.

“A little gem”

Grenada Grand Beach Resort

We loved this hotel. Even though it only has a 3* rating we were pretty impressed and were not disappointed with anything really. The hotel staff in the reception were always helpful and friendly and were always around to offer some advice on where to eat and what to see around the island. We had booked only a standard garden view room however upon check-in we were immediately upgraded to a sea view suite and were over the moon with the room and the view from the balcony. The room itself was pretty freshly decorated with satellite tv, coffee facilities and a fully equipped bathroom complete with hair-dryer. The only slight niggle with the room was the lack of hangers in the wardrope - not nearly enough for the mountain of clothes I brought with me!!

The pool area was beautiful and was a joy to sit and relax at although it was spoiled but one or two thoughtless tourists who decided dump their litter and a baby's used nappy in the garden grounds - shame on you! The hotel staff were always quick to clear up their mess however. The Grand Anse beach where the hotels sits has got to be one of the most gorgeous beachs I have ever seen and the locals are quite rightly proud of it and keep it immaculate. The water is so beautifully clear you can see right to the bottom even when you're quite far out.

We paid for bed and breakfast whilst we were there and although the breakfast itself was the same every morning (after a while it got a little boring) it was always freshly made and as it was a buffet you could go back time and again until you had your fill.

The only slight bugbear with the place was the fact that it was a little too quiet at night for us. Every night we would come back from eating out somewhere and would have a nightcap or two by the pool bar and more often than not we were only one of perhaps half a dozen couples (at most) that were there. There was simply no atmosphere I think they should probably consider laying on some kind of music or entertainment as the absence of this was keeping most of the hotel guests from spending any quality time there.

Other than that however we cannot fault this lovely hotel and the locals themselves are most certainly one of the friendliest in the Caribbean. We would definitely recommend it.

“Worst Vacation Ever - No Value for Money”

Grenada Grand Beach Resort

Stayed here from Dec 28th - Jan 9th 2008. Walking through the resort one has the impression that many things are under construction and the work had just been stopped in order not to annoy visitors. Funny enough - that was confirmed by the general manager when we had a conversation with him as we were very upset about many things in that resort. Our room - which we were told was one of their best - had the charm and smell of a US$ 30 motel at some highway in the middle of nowhere. We`ve received an upgrade of 2 categories (!) as construction work is going on - ironically the general manager called it "regular maintenance". Breakfast menue is lousy with little choice - after 2 days we did not know what to choose from any more as there` s very little to choose from. Booking situation was about 20% - which, during main season may be an indicator about the hotels quality. Service in total is poor and we`ve received little value for the EUR 240.- per person and night we had paid. The only positive things to mention are that pool, garden and location at Grand Anse are nice. If you expect more than these 3 things, we cannot recommend this hotel at all.

“No regrets for this choice !!!”

Grenada Grand Beach Resort

Dec 14, 2007

I'm just back from a lovely holiday. Stayed from the 2nd to the 9th of Dec.
I have to disagree with the comments from the previously customer.
Staff at the Hotel, very helpful and kind. They gave me all informations I needed.
I don't know which way the previously client have taken to reach the pool and restaurant area, but both are literally 2 min walking from the reception! For real !

I have been given a comp upgraded room with sea view. Renovated. I will never finish to thank the Manager for this! Waking up in the morning and sit at the balcony watching the blue water... it's breath taken!!!

It was not very busy last week (high season starts from mid December), therefore I guess there were many rooms available.... but still was a nice gesture to give a comp upgraded... and from my point of view is the best time to enjoy an holiday, with not many tourists around !
The room was very clean, and the housekeeper has been so nice to spray the room in the evening with anti-mosquitoes. It helped a lot, even though mosquitoes are everywhere and it is inevitable to be bitten, but ehy !!! ... they are part of the beauty in tropical places !!!

I knew that the Hotel was under refurbishment (I have been advised from the Tour Operator) but this didn't effect my stay. Works are carried during the day, when I'm on the beach or touring. Beside ... you can't notice much about those works, which are taken place in the "old rooms" apart of the Bar area... but still didn't bother me. The area is kept well cleaned!
The surrounding was perfect .... the must beautiful beach in Grenada... pool amazing ...and garden well kept. Giving me a very calm feeling. Stress will be gone as soon as you step in the Hotel.
Diving centre is an extra facility, which gives an amazing experience underwater. High qualified diving team. Diving with Adrian and the others is a "piece of cake" :)

There is so much to see and discover in Grenada... make sure you attend to "Fish Friday" which has been high recommended to me from the Hotel staff. It's a real experience ! Tour and transfers can be booked at the Hotel, so very convenient if you decide to leave the beach (very hard decision indeed!)

It won't be so affordable one day to stay at this Hotel, so I would suggest to take the chance as soon as you can !
I will def raccomand it to my friends... and not doubts I would love to go back !!!

“Beautiful Grounds, Passable Rooms & Deceptive Emails”

Grenada Grand Beach Resort

I stayed at the Grenada Grand from 01-04 December 2007. After a non-complimentary upgrade to ocean view, I was placed in room 255 of block 6. I will admit the view from the room was beautiful; a picture-perfect panaroma of the beach, carenage & mountains.

I was not given any type of map upon check-in & was forced to guess where things might be by following the sounds of people. The next day I admitted defeat, returned to the reception desk & was given a smudged copy of a blurry copy of a once original copy of a map of the grounds.

The property is immense – it is a 5-minute walk to the reception desk & almost 10 minutes to the main pool & any food. However, the grounds are well kept enough to keep your eyes occupied while you hike across the property to get something to eat or drink.

The room is nice enough, what would be considered high-end Motel 6 in the states. The linens were clean and in good shape & the water pressure surprisingly strong.

As I was visiting in-between hurricane season & the high tourist season, I sent specific emails to the property to make sure that all facilities would be open & usable & that no construction would be going on. I was assured everything was good to go, no problems.

When I arrive, though… the main hotel bar is closed, the pool bar is only open in the evenings, and there’s the screech of tile cutting & hammers banging all through the day.

I understand they’re trying to upgrade since they were acquired by Crowne Plaza (not sure who the genius was at Crowne Plaza that green-lighted that), but that gives them no right to lie in emails to get me to their property.

It’s also disappointing when the staff laments the decreased bookings & ponder how long their jobs will last since the Germans that fly in on Condor every Tuesday are the only reliable bookings.

This is a property way past its prime. The meager renovations they’re attempting will not put enough lipstick on the pig. This is quite a shame – if Crowne Plaza would infuse some substantial cash into the place then it could be a wonderful mid-priced resort in between the cheap digs on Grand Anse & the over-the-top way too expensive properties (I’m talking about you, Spice Island Beach Resort).

NOTE TO US CITIZENS: Grenada is lovely, indeed. However, the country offers nothing culturally, socially, architecturally, etc., that cannot be found 3 hours closer to the U.S. If you choose Grenada for a destination vacation you will find yourself quite bored.
