I stayed at the Coyaba and was quite impressed with the quality of the room, the food and beverage service, but not the "same day" laundry service.

At 9:00am I dropped off my laundry bag and list at the front desk and reiterated that I needed same-day service. I was reminded of an extra charge (although a given expense).

At 5:00pm I started calling back the front desk for my clothes. Soon after, I received partial delivery of my laundry. At 6:10pm I received a call from the front desk saying that "it is not our problem, the laundry service is closed".

That phrase blew my fuse. They offered to waive the same-day fee. That was not an issue to me, all I wanted was same-day service. Simply offering to waive the fee was not acceptable, but required in my mind, so it was not received as a solution.

I was then told to call the hotel manager. I refused to place any more calls. The housekeeping department should not have accepted the partial delivery without finding out where the remainder of it was - it's just like "missing luggage when flying".

This incident has ruined all of the positives of my stay. Won't recommend using same-day laundry.

I do not believe that in 2007 this hotel will not allow a man to eat at night in a T Shirt, the claim of fine dining is wishful thinking at best, I have stayed at many hotels all over the world and have had many fine dining experiences, trust me, there is very little that is fine about the Coyaba in Grenada.

When the matter was escalated to the GM, he pretty much said that although they have had many complaints about the antiquated policy and although there are no real alternatives for dinner, they are not prepared to bend the rule.

Another guest indicated that on a previous night he too tried to get in wearing a T Shirt and was turned away as several white men could be seen eating the (at best) ordinary food served at this place. My question is therefore; would I have been turned away if I were white?

I certainly would not be back to Coyaba Grenada and would use this as a story as I work with companies around the region; Coyaba the place not to be.

Get with the program, come up and join us in the 21st century. Colonialism has been done in this region for many years…or is it really?

Just returned back from Coyaba Beach Resort, Excellent. If you like small hotels, great food, quality rooms, friendly service and don't mind paying that little extra to get it, then this is for you. Keep it quiet before everyone hears about it, it's lovely.

The rooms are all newly furnished, lovely modern fittings, even a mossi screen over patio doors so you can sleep with your ceiling fan and hear the ocean. Room had new, quiet Air Con units, TV's, fridge, iron, tea/coffee maker, room safes and wireless internet connection too! Food was excellent, so was the service and menu selections, very reasonably priced too. Being able to choose from the a la carte for lunch and dinner was great. Breakfast was a joy with lots of choice and served in a pleasant relaxed manner under cooling fans. The restaurant staff were all great. We didn't go all inclusive and ate out some days, everything is nearby or short taxi ride. Grand Anse beach was lovely and the hotel has a small part fenced off near their garden area, so you don't get hassle from beach vendors, not that we saw many. Of course you can go through the resort gate and you are directly on Grand Anse sandy beach. A guy in the beach hut was happy to take our loungers out closer to the sea.

This resort is excellent, one of the last things being done was some areas of grass closer to the beach were being seeded, a little rain and everything will be lush. I would say since the last persons review this resort has come on leaps and bounds. Don't hesitate, it was great.
