We spent a week at this lovely hotel situated directly on the beach. Rooms roomy and comfortable. Very pretty and well tended gardens and lovely staff. Totally relaxing beach and sun holiday

We agree with many of the recent reviews written about this hotel. It is on a delightful beach with clear, warm water, lovely shade trees and mountain views. The service was excellent including some very nice flowers and champagne on our 10th wedding anniversary. Everyone was very gracious.

The hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and a market. The Beach House restaurant, which was excellent, offered free shuttle service. The bottom line is we had no problem not having a rental car and not being on the meal plan.

The hotel food was uneven so we were glad not to have chosen the meal plan. We did have an excellent Saturday evening cookout/buffet at the main restaurant. Lunches at poolside were reasonable but not particularly exciting compared to other meals we have had at other resorts (e.g. the Grand Hyatt near Georgetown, Cayman Islands).

The rooms are small and borderline 3 star. The bathroom appeared worn and not typical of 4 star hotels. We had a second floor room (#226) with a great view off the patio. We enjoyed the free wireless internet. We feel the Coyaba grounds and beach more than compensate for any shortcomings in the rooms.

Most guests seem to be from Great Britain which explained the wonderful company at the complimentary tea time every afternoon at 4 pm. The only unpleasant encounter on the entire trip was with an American couple that seem to think placing a towel on a beach chair reserved the chair for the entire day whether they were on the beach or not. While Coyaba management did not seem to condone this practice, they need to clarify to their guests that this ridiculous notion will not be enforced and that you must be on the beach with your belongings to hold a chair.

Truth be told, we had a wonderful stay and would return to the Coyaba. Sometimes the evening entertainment seem to run a little late (11 pm) and, at no fault of the Coyaba, the beach was a little crowded/noisy on weekends. But these were just minor distractions on what ended up being a very nice holiday. Our thanks go to the Coyaba management.

My wife Anne and I have just returned home to Britain after a very successful repeat visit to the wonderful Coyaba. We were a little worried. Would it, could it be as enjoyable as last year? In fact, we had an even better time. The hotel seems to attract the kind of guests you would like to meet again as friends. Fun, genuine folk, often middle aged, who enjoy a complete break from reality. Stay away if you want a great pool, nightly entertainment or gourmet food. But if you want a well run family hotel, the most friendly staff, beautiful gardens and a spectacular beach - you must try the Coyaba. And to dance away the night to the music of Roots, a local soca band, or the equally fab steel band was a joy!

Something must have happened to those few individuals who have given this hotel really bad reviews. I have travelled for many years in different parts of the world and the Coyaba, while it has its faults, is a well run, ideally located small hotel.
The plus points, The location, right in the centre of Grand Anse beach, a 2 mile stretch of white sand leading down to clear warm water. The Gardens, beautifully maintained, lots of space/shade under trees and leading on to the beach. Plenty of sun beds either on the beach or in the gardens. Pleasant and helpful staff in spite of the odd hiccup and some slow service at times.
The food, we thought was average, not spectacular but ok , a reasonable variety for lunch and dinner in the 2 restuarants. The main complaint we had was the salads which were particularly uninspiring and the lack of variety of fruit, mainly only bananas and water melon.
The rooms are ok, reasonable size and well equiped. Ours was a ground floor room, with a nice small patio with comfortable chairs, leading on to the gardens.
The pool is a bit of a disapoinment, it looked clean enough although I never actually swam in it but it is small and completely lacking in any ambiance, not surprisingly very few people seemed to use it, rightly prefering the beach.
Evening entertainment is minimal, only 2 nights a week, a band and a solo singer. The promised weekly crab racing never took off on either of the weeks we were there.
We found the staff, waiters, reception, gardeners all very pleasant and generally he;pful. Our few requests at reception were always dealt with efficiently and promptly.
Approx 40/50% of the guests were repeat visitors, some have been coming for many years which says something about the place.
We were on the All Inclusive deal which in spite of some previous reviews seems to cover nearly everything. There are a few items on the menus where there is an additional charge. Drinks are local and imported brands, the house wine is Chilean, all part of the All Inclusive
Would we return, possibly. We dont normally go back to the same place but Grenada and the Coyaba is a definate possibilty.

My husband and I recently returned from a five day stay at Coyaba Hotel, Grenada. I have all positive things to report on this hotel. We especially enjoyed the location. Across the street was a supermarket while nearby was a great bakery that served breakfast and excellent sandwiches.
Despite arriving early our room was ready. Check in was quick. The bellboy obviously liked his job and was very helpful and pleasant. Our daughter was staying n the room with us so he agreed to get us a third chair for our balcony, and saw that we received extra towels daily. We needed a power adapter which he readily found. The rooms were clean, and beds comfortable. We had a nightly turndown. It was very quiet.
Grounds were beautifully landscaped and well maintained. We saw almond trees, bananas growing along with orange, lemon and lime fruit trees. . Landscapers were constantly working to keep the property well maintained.
Beach boys attentively retrieved the lounges to the sand as they were pulled into the property at night. The beach has a beautiful sand bottom with a gradual deepening. Because the hotel is on a crescent beach we could walk daily in both directions along the beach.
We only ate at the restaurants once for each meal. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Lunch service was slow with a very limited menu. We ate at the bbq one night and had a very good dinner. The rest of the time we ate at some great restaurants savoring island flavor.
I don't know what's not to like about this hotel, we loved it and plan on returning next year.
