My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at the Coyaba hotel. The people are so friendly and they are very welcoming!

Food: I have to be honest the buffet is small. However, they change the food options every day. The barbeque is really good and they some times have this twice a week. You can always ask the staff for some food that is more suitable for you, they always go out of their way to make you happy.

Room: We had no problems with the room. Air conditioning is very cold which is a bonus for us!

Beach: The beach is beautiful...white sand...clear and calm sea. We miss it already! There are some locals on the beach, but we didnt mind that at all. Its their island anyway and it gives the beach an extra caribbean feel.

Excursions: We booked our holiday through Virgin.
Grenadines trip: Wow, this was the highlight of our holiday. If you are going to Grenada, please consider going! It cost about £180 each but it is worth it! In fact we wanted to do the trip twice!
- You go to the local airport and get on a 9 seater plane, including 1 seat right next to the pilot if you are brave!
-Once you arrive in Union island you will cruise around the grenadine islands. They are gorgeous!

Dolphin and whale watching: We saw many dophins and the excursion was very enjoyable. Beware- the sea was very choppy and a lot of people were being sick on the boat though. Approx: £40

Overall, we had a fantastic time. We are in our early and mid twentys. There are a lot of families there, but it is what you make of the holiday which is important! We went to St Lucia after as part of our twin centre holiday with Virgin.

Enjoy it!

“Good Value for Money with One Little Warning”

Coyaba Beach Resort

Grenada is a fantastic island to visit if you really want to relax in the sun on a white, powder soft beach (Grand Anse), swim in clear warm water, take one trip around the whole island, dive, eat and sleep. You get the idea.

It's the most uncommercialised holiday destination I've ever visited, but I fear it won't stay that way, so visit soon if that's what you're looking for. The Grenadians are friendly and welcoming, and they're totally passionate about their home.

Now to the hotel. Due to funds being spent on our home, we had to budget for this holiday. Having previously stayed in Four Seasons and Shangri-La hotels, and that level in Europe, we were a little worried about the standards at the Coyaba. As most reviewers have said, everything was clean and well-kept, and the staff were excellent (especially all the staff at Eco Dive - the best we've ever used). The food standard was what we expected for the money. It was good rather than excellent, except in the following areas. There was a very limited choice of fruit, the hot items were repeated on alternate days, and apart from the croissants, the pastries and muffins were poor. At other meals, the desserts were mass-produced, and in the pool restaurant, more often than not, the waiting staff forgot to ask us if we wanted dessert. Again, please don't be put off, because the rest of the food was good, especially the fish, and again, what can you expect for the money.

Here's my one little warning. Be prepared to be branded. Not one person on Trip Advisor mentioned in their review that upon check-in a gold band is attached to your wrist for the duration of your stay to indicate you are all-inclusive. Although I got used to it after a few days (and a few scratches when applying sun cream), I wasn't comfortable with it.

Overall, as I said before, it's excellent value for money, and I would visit the island again, but not as all-inclusive.

Have just come back from Grenada and the Coyaba Hotel and cannot wait to book for next year.

This hotel is brilliant located on the most beautiful beach, almost 2 miles of white sand. What more could you ask for.
The hotel itself is very good. Cannot fault anything,
The staff were very fiendly and polite at all times. Special mentions for Nigel, Leslie-Ann, Roderick and Elvis who went that extra mile to make you feel at home. also we got talking to Elvis and he showedus some photos of the devastation of the hurricane in 2004. Its a credit to the Grenadians to see how much has already been rebuilt.
A note for management perhaps you could put the photos on display in the hotel so guests can see what damage was done to the hotel ( a before and after)

The food was very good. could not fault it in any way. It was a treat to try the local dishes.

Rooms were spacious and very well kept.

Must make a mention of the lady gardner, cannot remember her name but she was so helpful in naming all the plants and fruit trees. In fact she even gave us fruit to sample.

All in all this holiday exceeded our expectations and can honestly say it has been the best caribbean holiday ever and cannot wait to go back again.

“Total Chill-out at a Fantastic Location”

Coyaba Beach Resort

Jun 9, 2008

Just returned from a fabulous two week stay. With our 7 yr old daughter and 81 yr old mother.

The initial reception was good. Sheldon, who showed us to the rooms is a star. The bathrooms are small (but with good counter top space for toiletries). The bedrooms are a reasonable size, but there is limited space storage space for clothing. The beds are very comfortable. Cable TV is provided, along with iron and ironing board, hair dryer, wall safe and a retractable clothes line above the bath. The fridge is unstocked, although you can bring drinks back from the bar and put them in. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day and were in our opinion more than adequate for a very good and comfortable holiday. Fresh bath and beach towels are provided daily and the plug sockets take a normal UK plug, so no need for adapter for UK guests. There is a pharmacy and supermarket (and shopping mall) within 5 minutes walk if you have forgotten anything or fancy a stroll.

The food and wine (no choice beyond Chilean red or white on the all inclusive but both were very nice. There is the option to purchase fine wines and champagne over and above this) were very good. We only dined at the Arawakabana restaurant which is a more formal dining experience (sometimes buffet or bbq, though there is always an a la carte menu you can choose from if you ask, though some dishes are at an additional cost if you are all inclusive). Here the dress code is strictly enforced. A more casual restaurant is situated beside the pool bar.

My 80+ year old mother found the grounds easy to navigate and the sea access for swimming easier than most resorts we have stayed in previously. The sea is beautifully clear for some considerable distance from shore and heaven to swim in.

The pool area was slightly disappointing - limited sunbathing loungers and shade and it tended to get taken over by children whilst we were there (though we were there during the school holiday period for the UK)- but the beach and the sea are to die for. Despite normally being pool lovers - we spent the holiday on the beach, just inside the hotel boundary which is fenced off. There are ample sun loungers and shade from numerous trees and parasols in the grounds. The beach sellers can be annoying unless you are politely firm (and don't promise to buy later in the holiday which they will not forget!), but one of the highlights of our holiday was meeting up again after 11 years with the very talented and friendly 'Alvin', who carves and sells brown (unprotected) coral jewellery.

This hotel is a gem. Gorgeous gardens, friendly staff (Leslie-Ann (special mention), Lindy, Winston, Nigel, Nekeisha, Rachael, Sheldon, Josephine, Bertie, to name a few (sorry if we have forgotten any of you!), not forgetting the very hard working and professional Violet). These staff are front of house and there are obviously numerous stalwarts behind the scenes that would deserve a mention too! Our family used to own a hotel, so we are ever sympathetic with unjustified poor reviews and feel that maybe some of the previous criticisms of this hotel perhaps fall into this camp considering the price you pay here. The service may be a bit slow on the odd occasion, but hey, this is the Caribbean and there should be no rush! Granted, the service in the Caribbean can be slower than you may experience in the Indian Ocean or America. The owners/manager are constantly evident at meal times checking on standards and service and obviously take pride in their hotel.

We have previously stayed (pre child!) at Jumby Bay, Blue Waters, Galley Bay - Antigua; Eastwinds- St Lucia, Coconut Creek - Barbados and twice at Spice Island - Grenada (but school holiday period is very expensive there hence staying at the Coyaba this time, though it still looks very nice). We had a great trip to Eastwinds again last year, but wanted to come back to Grenada which is our favourite island. The Coyaba Beach isn't in the same league on the deluxe comforts and menu choices as most of the hotels mentioned above, but represents the best value for money we have ever experienced in the Caribbean on one of the best beaches - especially if you like swimming in the sea and walking down the gorgeous beach (a brisk pre-breakfast walk down the beach and back takes around 45 minutes and will introduce you to some very friendly local people taking their early morning swims).

Other than the free (very good) half day trip into St Georges provided by Virgin Holidays (Johanna the Rep. is great), we didn't do any formal tours this time, as we have done the fabulous island tour on both previous visits. However, we did fly to Carriacou to visit the family of a friend. The 20 minute flight (costing £50 per person return) on a 9 seater plane was an amazing experience and the island itself is a jewel. Smaller and even more laid back than Grenada. Paradise Beach is a must and Sandy Island looked amazing in the distance. A trip into St Georges on the No. 1 bus will only cost 2.5 EC each way and is an experience in it's own right. Much cheaper than a taxi and very easy to do. The terminus is near the Esplanade (Duty Free) shopping Mall and you can catch the bus from the end of the road, or right outside the hotel if they drive down touting for business.

Winston the entertainments manager does a great job organising Crab races on a Wednesday evening and a cricket match (staff V guests). Other than this the entertainment is low key with a very good Steel Band on a Saturday night and a Managers Cocktail Party on a Tuesday.

Just one word of caution - the room safe swallowed my rings when they fell into a channel between the door and the safe and then disappeared inside the 'bowels' of the safe. After a mild panic which Nekeisha on Reception dealt with very swiftly, the maintenance man retrieved them for me. I envisaged them having to dismantle the safe, but the floor of the safe actually lifts out when the door is open. So don't panic!!!

We have no regrets at all about our holiday here, other than it coming to an end! We hope to be back soon.

We recently returned from a fabulous stay at The Coyaba Beach Resort Grenada. We stayed there for eight days during which time our wedding took place at the hotel. We found the staff friendly and helpful and no matter what time of day it was they always had a smile on their face an time for conversation.

On the day of arrival we were met at reception by one of the three managers/owners, which i thought was a nice touch. During the course of our stay we managed to meet with them all, where they too went out of their way to engage in conversation. If your like me and need your little buzz on the internet there are two computers based in the large hotel lounge that offer free access to to the hotel residents no matter what plan you are on, (therefore i was able to keep up with the Premiership & Champions League results whilst away.

The hotel and its grounds were excellent, the rooms were of good size and always cleaned daily, the hotel even offered a turn-down service if you so required, other hotels in the caribbean please take note of that. The gardens were refreshing to look at all day and very well maintained, as was the beach. We were situated in an upper apartment on arrival and even though the hotel accomodation was at 95% capacity, when my wife asked if we could be given a ground floor room, because she did not want to tackle a flight of stairs in her wedding dress, we were moved the following day.

I've read some unfair reviews about the food and activities available at The Coyaba. In our party that travelled out to grenada we had five children in total with ages ranging from eight - thirteen yrs. They ate everything offered and more and there were no complaints from them or other members of our party of sixteen that stayed at the hotel. All i can say to those previous reviewers is; stick to your package holidays to spain where you can indulge and gorge yourselves on fish n chips and mucky d.
As to activities the hotel offers a lovely pool with swim-up bar, I hardly got further, also water sports - including snorkeling, Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking, croquet, table tennis, shuffleboard, Golf at the Grenada Golf Club, Tennis and a full gym. (So where were they looking?) The children were never bored whilst there if anything it was harder getting them to stop for bed.

Anyone thinking of getting married in the caribbean look no further than this destination, as I can promise you Sandra the wedding planner will do a grand job. And even if you dont get married there, and why you wouldn't I dont know, ask your planner for Cullen John as your wedding photographer.

The island as a whole is a wonderful place to explore and there are many trips by land, sea or air that the hotel can organise for you. So much so that my first honeymoon is going to be spent at this most wonderful destination next year - already booked.
