“Great!”

We (my husband, myself and 82 year old mother) stayed here for 2 weeks in March 2008 and overall thought the place was great.
We loved Grenada too.
The staff were so helpfull, particularly where my mother was concerned and all were genuinly friendly. We did not feel it was put on as we have in so many other places.
We had fantastic weather, despite the fact the rep said it had been wetter than usual for the season. We hardly saw a drop of rain whilst in the resort. The only rain we did see was when we went around the island. It was very wet in the mountains in the morning.
We also felt quite safe outside the resort which is more than I can say for some other caribbean islands we've visited.
We had free massages (courtesy of Virgin) and they were very good. I even went back for another!
The grounds, although not enormous, are very nicely planted with lots of flowers.
The beach was lovely, the sea clear and mostly calm. Not much to see if snorkelling off the beach, though.
If you want to snorkel (or dive, I guess) we went on an afternoon trip and it was very good. The best so far for us in the caribbean.
There were traders on the beach, but they were not a problem if you were friendly, but just said no thanks or maybe come back next week or something.
Look out for Alvin who carves necklaces out of brown coral. He even adds an inscription on the back if you want. They are very nice and we bought 7!
You could sit on the sand inside or outside the grounds. Someone from the staff came round with melon every morning.
They have weekly crab races. Highly amusing (had experienced these in Jamaica previously)!
The pool, although small, was never crowded even though the resort was full. Neither was the beach. There were always free sunbeds whatever time you got down to the beach.
The food was generally quite good, the buffets were probably best. My only complaint was that the a la carte was a bit limited and they never had lamb on the menu at all (we got some on our last day because we asked for it!!!).
But it was my mother's birthday whilst we were there and they did her a special sea food curry (she likes curries!) and did her an iced cake (all at no extra cost). They had a band playing that night and when they brought the cake out they played Happy Birthday for her!! She was well chuffed!
The drinks deal on the all inclusive was very good. We were never told that something was not included, even premium brands.
I'll upload some photos at a later date.
On the whole it was lovely and we would certainly recommend it and consider returning there.

“Very Happy to Recommend”

Coyaba Beach Resort

We stayed at the Coyaba Beach from 1-8 May before going to Tobago for our second week. We were very impressed with the hotel which was rebuilt after Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Room was perfectly acceptable, good standard of cleaning/turndown.

Facilities excellent, beach is fantastic - 2 miles long and perfect fine white sand. Locals use it a lot at the weekend but are very friendly. We have visited many Caribbean islands and have never seen so many locals playing beach cricket. If you go for an early morning walk you will see the fishermen bringing-in their catch. We just missed a turtle laying her eggs.

Pool is fairly small but because the grounds of the hotel are so spacious there is plenty of room for everyone, sun beds very comfortable and fresh towels freely available. Pool bar very good but no service for those on the beach so a long walk if you want a drink.

Restaurants very good but there is confusion about the evening menus, always ask to see the a la carte menus as these may not be offered to you by the staff, some of the dishes on this menu attract an additional charge. Breakfast starts at 6.30 which was good for us as we are always up early in the Caribbean.

Although not styled as an adults-only resort there were very few children there and there did not seem to have too many 'child-friendly' features.

We would recommend the 'Shadowfax' cruise, not great for snorkelling but a great sail around the tip of the island where the airport is situated to Hogg Island.

Only negative aspect was having to wear a wrist band to identify us as 'all inclusive' guests, we don't like this as it usually indicates a downmarket hotel which is nit the case with Coyaba Beach, at least it was a gold in colour!

We will most certainly return to Grenada and the Coyaba beach in future.

“Coyaba : We'll be back soon”

Coyaba Beach Resort

The Coyaba is an excellent hotel offering relaxation, watersports, excellent food and drinks, great service and in our view excellent value for money. Set in lush, tropical gardens and right on Grand Anse beach it will appeal to anyone seeking time away from the routines of daily life.

If you are seeking a quiet time you will find it, rest assured. If you enjoy a spattering of activities then you can choose from a weekly cricket match (tourists v hotel staff), garden tour, crab-racing, BBQ & Cocktail night, Steel band. These are not compulsary but enjoyable if you like that sort of thing. This is not for you if you are expecting daily, organised activities and lively bar/dancing scene to the early hours.

All the staff we encountered were engaging, happy to assist and attentive.

We had the all-inclusive option which was cost effective in our opinion for the drinks alone. We enjoyed breakfast every morning. You could have full cooked with eggs cooked as you like, or fruit, cereals, pastries. There were also interesting local delicacies such as fishcakes and fried plantain. Lunch can be taken either in the main restaurant facing the sea (buffet style including hot dishes, soups, salads) or in the pool-side restaurant where you could choose food such as burgers, club sandwich, fries. Afternoon tea served about 4pm for sandwiches/cakes if you need it. Dinner served in both restaurants. You can book and go dressed up in the main restaurant or turn up and dress more relaxed in the poolside restaurant. Both use the same a la carte menu from what I could see and in the pool side you get a choice from the specials of the day being served in the main restaurant. Really for dinner, it's more a case of the ambience you are seeking and if you're happy to dress up as there is a strict dress codes for men in the main restaurant - trousers and shirt essential. They will turn you away otherwise.

I think I've gone on long enough and suffice it to say we will definitely go back.

NB - we didn't need to spend a penny extra in the hotel. It is the first time we have ever booked an all inclusive option and it really is worth it here. That said, we did still get out and about to see the rest of Grenada which is beautiful and equally enjoyed the lunches and dinners we had outside.

“a gem”

Coyaba Beach Resort

We stayed here in April 2008. It is important to remember that this is not a 5 star luxury hotel, and you are not paying 5 star luxury hotel prices. What you get is a very comfortable, clean hotel in lovely gardens right on the excellent main beach in Grenada. The staff were always very friendly and caring. We are very fussy eaters, but there was always something that we enjoyed either from the menu of the day or the a la carte menu. We chose to have an all inclusive holiday and found it to be excellent value for money. Yes, you can always find something that is not quite to your liking if you look hard enough, but we found this hotel to be "a gem"

“Return and return again”

Coyaba Beach Resort

May 13, 2008

A hotel to return to again and again. Peaceful with everthing to hand and no extras to pay - ever. Unless a la carte or foreign wines.
Alert , friendly, attentive staff, owner on hand, Beach, gardens , pool to get lost in and so safe.
Watersports to sample. Interesting tours. I wont forget the turtle experience. We were so lucky.
Wall to wall sunshine and calm sea. Drinks in the bar , even from the pool all day
Varied menu despite the price & several courses with local flavours and fresh caught fish.
Vegetarian meals available but check beforehand as there isnt much choice for main meal if not a fish eater.
You do have to walk to pool, room reception , bar but not more than 80 paces
This resort area has something very special which we've not experienced anwhere else in the world.
Thank you Just Grenada for our help and choice.
