To start with this Hotel is perfectly located on one of the best beaches probably in the Caribbean. Its gardens and its beach/village location is very good.
Our arrival was excellent and we were greeted with rum punches, cold towels and a warm reception.

We asked to be located in a ground floor room and were given a room as close to the beach as you could get. The rooms are very comfortable and have benefited from a major refurbishment after Hurricane Ivan within the last 3 years. The maintenance on the property is good.

The beach is great and ideal for early morning or sunset walks.

the main problem is with the food; there appears to be nobody managing teh staff during breakfast, lunch or dinner. We often asked for the same item 3 times before it arrived. Plus the food was either inedible or cold.

We did complain, not something we do often, but it was also a special occasion holiday and we felt dissappointed.
Our feedback unfortunately did not lead to any improvements certainly not within the 2 weeks we were there.
We also overheard others complain about similar issues.

My advice is to go on room only basis as the Hotel is in a good location. Plus nearby is a village green where local cricket teams every afternoon. Great fun.

Bottom line though is we would not go back - a shame really as we stayed there last year but we gather the chef has changed. Plus we did not find the staff the friendliest we have met in other Caribbean islands.

Still found St Lucia best island - but I guess places do change!

Having read other reviews we were a bit concerned about the Hotel. Having experienced two weeks of the exceptional quality service and food at Coyaba Grenada, we found scarcely anything amiss. The food was varied and they used local ingredients. The fruit was the best. Staff very helpful and friendly. Management, very much hands on which shows in the standard which is achieved.
Would recommend for more mature traveller, not really suitable for children as only one pool and the frolics of children does not mix with stressed out adults!
The pool could do with some more shade stands, even though there was some cloud you did need to be under a shade. Having said that, down at the beach there was plenty of shelter.
Hawkers on beach no problem, if you politely chatted to them and said no, then off they went. After the first couple of days they would just come by for a chat.
Scuba Diving scene is good, competent people and good boats.
Snorkelling only available on boat trips and you need to check sea state, but on good days it is great.

“Same Day Laundry Service A Hoax”

I stayed at the Coyaba and was quite impressed with the quality of the room, the food and beverage service, but not the "same day" laundry service.

At 9:00am I dropped off my laundry bag and list at the front desk and reiterated that I needed same-day service. I was reminded of an extra charge (although a given expense).

At 5:00pm I started calling back the front desk for my clothes. Soon after, I received partial delivery of my laundry. At 6:10pm I received a call from the front desk saying that "it is not our problem, the laundry service is closed".

That phrase blew my fuse. They offered to waive the same-day fee. That was not an issue to me, all I wanted was same-day service. Simply offering to waive the fee was not acceptable, but required in my mind, so it was not received as a solution.

I was then told to call the hotel manager. I refused to place any more calls. The housekeeping department should not have accepted the partial delivery without finding out where the remainder of it was - it's just like "missing luggage when flying".

This incident has ruined all of the positives of my stay. Won't recommend using same-day laundry.

“Fantastic spot - best holiday ever!”

We transferred to the Coyaba Beach Resort a few days into our holiday after a terrible experience at another hotel in Grenada. This was sorted out by the Virgin Holidays team (Sabine and Johanna) and we really appreciated their help.

When we arrived at the Coyaba we were greeted by Winston and Roderick, both of whom did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome.

The whole atmosphere at the Coyaba is like a home away from home which perhaps reflects that it is family owned rather than being part of a hotel chain. The staff are really friendly and seem motivated by the "gold service" awards awarded by management.

The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained by the gardening team and being directly on Grand Anse beach, the location is fantastic.

Halfway through the holiday it was my 40th birthday, the restaurant provided a beautiful cake which we were able to share with the other guests with whom we had become friendly during the holiday.

Entertainment is low key but fun and the weekly staff vs guests cricket match (held at the playing field opposite the hotel) was a real highlight (especially as we won)!

We can't understand other postings which refer to the food as tasteless as there was always a choice of tasty offerings at each meal, in both of the restaurants. The chef was regularly seen consulting with the owner who was quite visible within the hotel, apparently ensuring that standards were maintained.

It was great that there was a dress code and the hotel enforced this (for example some people were not allowed into the restaurant for dinner whilst wearing shorts). We thought that this was great as it helped maintain the "quality" atmosphere.

Although travelling with our daughter, we were pleased that there was no kids club as we found plenty to do on the beach, in the sea and at the pool. This resort might not suit parents with high maintenance children.

Great cocktails especially the mudslides and Coyaba Romances!

We are planning our return already as we are still mentally underneath the almond tree by the beach, waiting for the watermelon to be brought round at 11 am every morning!

“Disappointing”

We have recently returned from a week at the Coyaba Beach Resort, and I have to say, we left disappointed.
The resort itself is very nice. The place was tastefully furnished with a lovely bar/restaurant area, beautiful grounds and Grand Anse Beach on it's doorstep. However, for a 4 star resort, it was badly let down by it's service, which was more 2 star, especially the poolside bar staff. I lost count of the number of times we had to ask for a drink, rather than being asked. The problem wasn't due to a lack of staff, but that they seemed more interested in cleaning glasses, wiping down surfaces or continually pretending to be on the phone rather than serve or even acknowledge their guests. The other thing we found really confusing was the restaurant system. We booked through Tradewinds, and the brochure stated that the resort had 2 restaurants, one formal which required a reservation, and another more casual restaurant. On arrival, we were shown around by the really helpful porter who took us straight to the formal restaurant for dinner, which was predominantly buffet style. However, we didn't realise until our last day that we could have had waiter service for lunch and dinner at the more causal restaurant, with a wider choice of food. Whilst we still had a relaxing holiday, it should have been better considering the four star rating. Unfortunately for Grenada, we wouldn't recommend the Coyaba Beach and we definitely won't be rushing back.
