We have just returned form the best holiday ever in the Caribbean, and we have been to many hotels there before, always good, but this has to be the best - wish we had found it before. The location in beautiful gardens, fronting right on to Grand Anse beach is just perfect.. Before going, I had read some reports that the rooms were small etc, well our experience found otherwise - plenty of hanging wardrobe space, including shelf storage and more than adequate drawer storage. The fully equiped room included iron, ironing board, personal safe, refrigerator, multi channel TV etc, and had two double beds, table and chairs , and tea/coffee making facility. The bathroom was spotless, and had everything needed, including hair dryer. Towels and sheets, changed as required. We were on the ground floor and had a nice patio area, lawned frontage, and furnished with patio table and chairs, very relaxing, with both side sea and garden views.
Without exception, the hotel staff were extremely efficient, always pleasant and helpful, and it would be unfair to single out any, but as I particularly enjoy a drink, then a very special thank you to all who served in the bars - some of your special cocktails were amazing !
Hotel management were always available, and mixed freely with guests, and too should be complimented on such a smooth running and happy hotel.
We were on a Virgin holiday, and their representative - Johanna, was again so kind and helpful, so deserves a special mention.
I said earlier that I wouldn't single out any staff, but I have to mention Winston, who was even gracious when his cricket team lost to the guests team !, and still maintained his enthusiasm and was always visible to guests.
My wife and I are a bit disabled with arthritis, and having been to Grenada before, limited our trips, but decided to do" Fish Friday" - my opinion is that this is really not suited to anyone with any walking difficulty, as the small congested roads were very uneven
and could be dangerous.
I nearly forgot to mention - the hotel restaurants - there are two, and between them offer a large selection of meals, both buffet and a la carte - you will be spoilt for choice.
If you are going to COYABA BEACH - you will enjoy !. Brian and Barbara. Dorset UK

“Nice but the food is lacking”

Just returned from a short stay, 5 nights. The hotel and rooms were clean and peaceful. Plenty of closet space but no drawers, only 4 small shelves to lay clothes on.The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The staff was always helpful. This is mostly a British vacation destination and the food reflects that, tastless. We ate 3 breakfasts and 2 lunches there. How do you make a tastless omlett and why use what seemed to be juice from a can when there is so much fruit to be had? The catch of the day fish sandwich was good for lunch. The best places to eat we found were the Aquarium for lunch with a great fish soup and the sushi restaurant across from the hotel. La Belle Creole was recommended and had good food too but the service was terrible. There is apparently a pressure system off the coast of Florida that has caused large ocean swells over the past 3 weeks or so that has churned up the waters so that diving, snorkeling and fishing were poor. It also was erroding the beaches (conserned the locals the most) and made the cruise ships' docking a temporary one. The ships would dock, let off their passengers and then anchor in the bay until pickup time.

Travelled with Kuoni on Virgin to Coyaba Hotel. What a good choice.Room fine with comfy beds, good chairs on balcony.Motivated staff who were well trained and friendly.Food good, although a little repetitive after 2 weeks.Drinks very scrummy- cocktails imaginative.Beach and gardens wonderful for sunbathing, with plenty of sturdy, comfy sunbeds with much shade.Good fun cricket match on Wednesdays.Staff v Guests.Well worth playing golf-an interesting 9 hole course with helpful caddies.Hiring a driver with a car at $25us an hour is great.8 hours gives you a good look at the island. Our driver was brilliant. Very informative. On the local bus into St. Georges is an easy trip to an interesting town.On Sundays walk along the beach towards St.Georges to a bar called Turning Point.Excellent live music and brunch.Get there about 1pm.All in all a very good holiday at an excellent hotel on a lovely island with delightful people and stunning weather!

We recently spent a week at the Coyaba Beach on all-inclusive basis. The staff were friendly and attentive, the location is fabulous -on the wonderful Grand Anse Beach - just a short transfer from the airport. The gardens are very attractive and well-maintained. The rooms are comfortable, but ours had very little lighting - just a couple of 40W bulbs. Our room had UK style sockets - no adaptors required, but there was a different style in the fitness room.

Unlike most all-inclusives we have stayed at, the emphasis on the food was quality not choice. The soups were exquisite, and much of the rest of the food was subtly spiced. For most people it would be more than adequate but as vegetarians, we found the choice a little limited at times.

There are two restaurants. At lunch, one is a buffet, and the other provides bar meals. In the evening, they both provide the same a- la-carte menu, with the first requiring slightly more formal dress - long trousers and a collar for men. That one also has a buffet several times a week in addition to the a-la-carte.

We were there during term-time and found the other visitors to be predominantly middle-aged middle-class British couples with a few younger people and the occasional American.

Beware of Mozzys and sand flies, and take plenty of repellent. We each collected one or two bites per day, but each took over a week to stop itching, which was not fun by the end of the week.

Sun-beds are plentiful (no need to reserve with a towel) and very comfortable (wooden with a thick cushion), and they are very relaxed about the number of towels you take.

Internet use is free from the reception area. There is a wireless connection which is supposed to reach the entire complex, but I found I had to sit on the balcony to receive it.

This hotel does not appear to be well set-up for children and young people. No playground, no children's pool. Very little in the way of day-time or evening entertainment. None of that bothered us. If you want to chill with sun and sea and good food and drink then it is thoroughly recommended.

Had February fortnight at the Coyaba. The hotel is on the best part of one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The rooms could have more storage space but are fine. The hotel gardens are great.
The hotel lets itself down with the food which was often unacceptable, particularly at dinner. All meat was tough and the fish frozen and tasteless. All-inclusive is not that expensive and we did not expect haute cuisine. Nevertheless it is possible to do much better with simple ingredients. Desserts were poor - often even vanilla ice cream was unobtainable.
If you eat out go to the Aquarium restaurant - by far the best we tried - and great snorkelling close to the beach.
