I was only staying here for one night after holidaying in carriacou-was looking forward to a nice clean pool which im afraid it was not!!my balcony door would not open and there was only the receptionist on and she couldnt get it open either so i boiled in my room.
the room size is good with plenty of towels, air con, safe, fridge etc. The hotel is right on the beach but again i saw much better beaches on my trip. the hotel is opposite some public land so on the night i was there they had a huge party with VERY LOUD music until the early hours-not the hotels fault but if i had known people had parties outside i would of chosen another hotel. my bed was lovely and big which was a plus.
my toilet decided to stop flushing....!
t.v had bad reception and there wasn't enough lights in the room.
i didn't see many other guests and thats prob why they let me have my room until 5pm when check out was at 12.
overall it was ok for one night but if i return to grenada i would def pick the coyoba hotel which is next door or rex resorts.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend on our way home from Carriacou for three weeks. We got there in the late afternoon and left first thing in the morning so we didn't get a chance to use the beach or pool facilities. The hotel is very clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant, even though it is run separately from the hotel, has wonderful food. One of the best meals we had during our vacation. We have stayed in many places in Grenada, and for the price, this place is worth it. We will be going back again next year.

The resort is dead center of grand anse beach. Beach was great. There are 2 large trees that Ivan didn't budge in front of here. Thank Heavens for that. Yes, the locals from the public beach sometimes hang here but they are very nice. The people that bring there wares to the beaches are very considerate. Most ask to show if you are not interested they move along. The hotel is very clean and friendly the owner is most days walking about the lobby. Very nice guy.
Now, here is the disconnect. The bar & restaurant are operated by another family. It is so unlike other resorts where the pool, bar and dinning are intertwined. The food is good and the hosts are pleasant. I guess if you want a peaceful, clean, quiet place this IS A GOOD BANG FOR THE BUCK.

PS This is a three story building with out an elevator or Bellman. If this is bad for you consider a lower room.

Nice small hotel situated in the middle of famous Grand Anse Beach with direct beach access. Clean rooms with fridge, coffeemaker, TV, AC, fan and safebox. Very friendly owner and staff (esp. Marsha at front desk). Perfect beach with (few) free beach chairs. Restaurants and a small shopping mall with supermarket (incl. a deli) and food court in a five minutes walking distance. Public transportation to St. Georges in front of the hotel. Perfect weather in January and not so many people on the island.

We stayed at the Allamanda a couple of days before our cruise and a couple of days after.
The night we arrived, we had dinner on the terrace of their restaurant. It was late, and a long wait for the curry I ordered, but when it arrived it was superb.
The ONLY complaint I have about the Allamanda is that the pool is right next to - I mean RIGHT next to, the terrace of the open-air restaurant, so if you aren't thrlled with being the main attraction when you are in your bathing suit, you might, (like me) feel uncomfortable about using the pool.
The hotel is right on the beach so you can walk right down to the water Once you leave the official property, you will see people selling bracelets, jewelry, sodas, etc. If you tell them you are not interested they will politey thank you and move on.
Our total stay at the Allamanda was about 5-6 days, and during that time we developed appreciation for their staff, who were friendly and willing to chat about their lives and aspirations with us in the late afternoon when things slowed down at the restaurant.
I wasn't happy about the pool being so small and public, but that was more than compensated by the gift of meeting Lovey and George and the other people who not only did their jobs in providing us with meals and drinks, but shared a little of their lives with us as well.
That was great.
Allamanda is a great and budget-friendly choice on Grenada -- especially if you respect and are interested in the people who are working to make sure you have a good vacation.

  • Liked — The people
  • Disliked — The pool, which was too close to the restaurant and too public feeling
