We stayed at the Allamanda a couple of days before our cruise and a couple of days after.
The night we arrived, we had dinner on the terrace of their restaurant. It was late, and a long wait for the curry I ordered, but when it arrived it was superb.
The ONLY complaint I have about the Allamanda is that the pool is right next to - I mean RIGHT next to, the terrace of the open-air restaurant, so if you aren't thrlled with being the main attraction when you are in your bathing suit, you might, (like me) feel uncomfortable about using the pool.
The hotel is right on the beach so you can walk right down to the water Once you leave the official property, you will see people selling bracelets, jewelry, sodas, etc. If you tell them you are not interested they will politey thank you and move on.
Our total stay at the Allamanda was about 5-6 days, and during that time we developed appreciation for their staff, who were friendly and willing to chat about their lives and aspirations with us in the late afternoon when things slowed down at the restaurant.
I wasn't happy about the pool being so small and public, but that was more than compensated by the gift of meeting Lovey and George and the other people who not only did their jobs in providing us with meals and drinks, but shared a little of their lives with us as well.
That was great.
Allamanda is a great and budget-friendly choice on Grenada -- especially if you respect and are interested in the people who are working to make sure you have a good vacation.
