We have just come back from a two-week stay in this new Sandals. I must say that I knew that the Grenadians were nice but not as much as I experienced during our vacation. From the concierge club staff (William and the other great ladies) who really wanted to make our stay easy and memorable to the room service young lady, they were smiling and we NEVER felt we were bothering them: Thank you!
As for the food, it was by far the best Sandals we have done (we went to 4 others). The food was fresh, well-presented, varied and very tasty. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always good experiences. I appreciated having local recipes (pumpkin soup and meat spices). I don't want to forget the Café de Paris that served a delicious nutmeg ice cream with a smile that will make you come back the next day for more... My heart goes to the Italian restaurant with his unique staff! I apologize for forgetting all the names but Stefano's team were so special. For breakfast (thanks to the lady at the grill: your pancake were amazing!) or dinner, they always welcomed and served you with a smile not to mention a real intention of making your stay memorable. Thanks for the 4 double espressos every morning! They gave me flowers on my last dinner AND an icing comeback card on our last breakfast! (see the picture I share). How can't I want to comeback! Thank you Egon and the lovely ladies who were with him.
As for the Spices restaurant, the menu was as good for lunch as for dinner. The service was excellent not to mention the fish entrees and the yogurt cake ! Thanks!
Butch's restaurant serves an outstanding surf and turf. We went three times and honestly we enjoyed every minute of it. Try the french fries! They are different from the ones at the Spices. The service was up to the quality of the food that was served. Thanks!
Pizza counter was always very convenient afternoon after an afternoon dive! Thanks!
The beach, well if you are looking for a big beach you will be disappointed. It is small compare to Grand Anse. The color? Not a problem but not pink sand. Umbrellas and chairs were NOT an issue. There were plenty. The water sport staff was ALWAYS there to give you a hand with them.
As for the diving experience, we chose that resort because we had read that it was good. The word good is not enough: I would say the best dive staff (we have been to Club meds, and Cancun). February may not be the best time for diving in terms of visibility but the staff will do anything they can to make your dive memorable. Marvin's team is great, generous and eager to make you happy. Elijah, Shawn, Trevor are doing a wonderful job (sorry but I forget the other names. There were too many!) The cherry on the sundae for me was: Aldith, the lifeguard, she was as generous (time and explanations) as professional. I did snorkeling with her and I learned as much as I enjoyed it! she is a great instructor and will make you take the best out of your snorkeling trip. Thank you!
If I had one complain? It would be in terms of management. Why? Because we had booked 2 rooms for our stay (the first one was not available on our arrival) and switching room after 3 night was a long, complex and time consuming process. It took almost 24 hours!! Not to mention that I received 4 phone calls telling to pack or not to pack (room ready or not?) and a phone call from someone who told me that the bus was there to take me back to the airport as I was leaving the resort!!!!! May I suggest a better coordination between the different services?
Will we return? Certainly!
I don't know about the new Sandals in Barbados but in terms of team members, Grenada's is one of a kind! When I met the manager of the resort, we told him that what made his resort unique was his team!
Pink Gin rooms are the best if you intend to dive frequently. Ask for a high number (we were 1111) i...
