Just returned home from a week's stay at La Source. It was a great vacation. The rooms were nice....large closet with shelves, small balcony, large bathroom, four poster bed.- they are still working on the building behind the ocean front one. The resort was not full (there were around 50 couples there) . All the resort staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They went out of their way to be accomodating!!
The diving wasn't spectacular at the resort, but the dive crew were very friendly and we felt like we had made new friends. The dive boat was in great shape. They offered water skiing, tubing, and knee boarding as well. That was tons of fun!!
The freshwater pool was very refreshing...although they were having a small problem with the pump (but they are working hard to repair it.....and the pool was still functional everyday we were there.)
The food was OUTSTANDING....it was the best food we have had at any resort. There were plenty of choices everyday. The restaurant by the beach bar seem to be less formal and had a smaller selection to choose from. The bars and drinks were great and the bartenders were fun!! The wine selection was impressive for an all-inclusive resort.
We were there for a friend's wedding and the wedding on the beach was very nice. The wedding co-ordinators (Dennis and Chenalle (sp?)) were great.
There was quite a bit of wind while we were there...so we spent more time by the pool then on the beach. However, the waves were not so big that you couldn't swim or snorkel. They still have a breakwall of boulders out in the water to keep the swimming area calmer.
The spa treatments were quite nice and they were very good at accomodating changes to your time if you had something else planned (although maybe that was because the resort was so far from full). The boutique is not yet open.
The provide internet service free of charge for the guests at a computer in the main lounge area.
You could not possibly be bored at this resort....between daily spa treatments, walks, tennis, archery, diving, yoga, pilates, biking, water sports, water aerobics, tai chi, etc, etc, etc, there was lots to do for everyone.
We had a really nice time at this resort and hope to return again.

I returned from La Source this morning. From the moment I arrived there people could not do enough for you. The staff are all very courteous and helpful and the management are very hands on ensuring you are happy. Since they reopened there have been some teething problems but again, these people are are working very hard to conquer these problems. The whole hotel is beautiful, the food first-class and the spa offers some of the best holistic massages around! I have already booked to go back at the same time next year.

Although the resort was just reopening after hurrican Ivan, (3 years in the rebuilding and upgrading of spectacular ammenities) upon my arrival, as a single female, the stay could not have been more beautiful. For restful body tretments and healing from the sea, social interactions with wonderfully creative, affectionate, charasmatic guests that frequent LaSource, made this a once in life time experience for me. Except I intend to go back as often as possible. If you need a change but you are unsure what direction your potential is intended, I recommend LaSource for a innovative & dynamic experience. We were the 2nd group of guests to arrive after reopening. Our stay was from Feb 10 - 17th in room 1217. I will try to give just facts during the review as the resort was not nearly ready and at the end a few items that were not ready.

Rooms - nicely appointed. Same layout at previous. Good view from ocean view rooms. Shampoo replaced daily as were any dirty towels each time maid entered the room. Beach towels included in room replaced more than 1x daily if required. Electronic safe, ceiling fan, A/C. Mini fridge in room not stocked.

Pool / Bar - deep tan / black sand on beach. Not able to walk too far before having to turn around ( 10 min ). Wooden lounge chairs around beach with cushions, plastic lounges on beach - cushoins provided. 2 adjoining pools ( 8ft section, 4 ft section ), as well as small pool with separate jaccuzi.

Food - Breakfast daily behind main resturant. Buffet style but with limited guests, selection was limited as well as hot food was already cooked at grill and you asked for what you wanted - bacon, sausage, beans, potatoes. Eggs / omlettes made to order.
Lunch was at either Deli cafe - salad / sandwich / dessert or Oscars beach bar - burger / pizza / burrito / fish & chips.
Supper was in main resturant. Limited menu. Same every night with 2 additional items each night. Lobster was extra chanrge of $70EC. Wine also available.
Buffet was only offered for lunch 2 days during stay and never in the evening.

Bars - New Beach bar ( Oscars ) opens daily 10am. Bottle beer served when we arrived but draft beer became available Tuesday then no bottle beer. Able to be both Sunday. They use REAL size glasses at all bars. No need for travel mugs. Plastic size mugs for beer for around pool / beach. They will come around to serve you if you want.
Main bar open in the evening until 11pm. Piano bar open 6pm serving same drinks.

Activities - Fitness room, golf, tennis, volleyball, cycling, yoga, Tai Chi all available. Watersports had dive boat that did go out as well as a separate boat for waterskiing. Hobie cats also available.

Spa - Treatments 20 - 60min depending on treatment. They set up weekly schedule for you but can change times if available. They seem timid on treatments but was improving. They have a salon for nails / hair but was not open.

A few items that were noticed during our stay. Keep in mind there was only about 60 guests staying there with a capacity of 200+. They did not have our reservations when we arrive but corrected within 10min once hotel voucher produced. A/C did not work the whole time. I didn't mind too much - just slept with window open, nice breeze and sound of the ocean. Water was a big issue. Only had hot water 3 days but not for the whole day, it was sporadic. 1 night we had no water and guests were using showers down by the pool area to getready for supper. Clock radio / CD player showed up Wednesday. Billards / internet area not ready yet. Most likely another 3 - 4 weeks. Supper food service started very slow and food was cold but improved as week went on. No pool was open until Wednesday and that was only main pool. It developed a leak and my have to be drained to fix. Smaller pool and jaccuzi mostly likely opened day after we left. Also didn't appreciate having to vacate room by 11am on departure day considering only 25% full.
What made this trip bareable was the staff - they all really tried to make the stay comfortable for everyone. Most guest understood although didn't like it. My concern is only 1 section was partially open and will they have same issues once other section opens as well ?
All in all this place will be great once it is complete and running. Give it a chance but maybe not for a few months. I understand Virgin and British Airways won't send anyone until ready - maybe Air Canada should have done the same.

I went to La Source in March 2000 and it really was one of the best holidays I have ever been on, with the edge on other comparable all inclusives because of the range of sports and treatments included. I thought it was a great place to relax, and focus on getting a tan, getting fit, and unwinding.

If you're into diving and are certified, the fact that diving is included is brilliant, and means you save a lot of money. I did some of the other sports - morning runs, tennis, volley ball, and found the 'Bodyguards' (sports coaches at La Source) great fun and incredibly professional.

I met some really interesting people when I was staying there - and am still in touch with some 7 years later!

I'm going back this February and can't wait. I hope it's still as good as it was then!
