We stayed at the Flamboyant in September 2007 and have just returned from another two weeks. This time we travelled with another couple, who enjoyed it just as much as we did. The Flamboyant has good sized rooms with big, comfortable beds and every room has the stunning view down Grand Anse Beach, across the bay to St Georges and the hills behind. Our rooms were kept very clean and the hotel provides a high level of efficieny, without losing the Caribbiean feel. There are steps, so if you are at the lower end of the fitness scale, ask for one of the lower level rooms.
We didn't eat much in the hotel this trip because Helen at Dive Grenada is a source of great restaurant recommendations. Helen is also an excellent Dive Guide. We dived with Dive Grenada on ten days (20 dives) over the fortnight and loved every one. On the first dive in Flamingo Bay a Manta Ray majestically swam past us about three minutes after we started the dive. A great way to start the trip! Dive Greanda is now owned by "Fishy" Phil and Helen, who are a great couple. The dive centre is very professionally run with a good collection of new equipment and experienced and friendly staff. The diving is brilliant. The reefs are beautiful as this part of the Caribbean has fantastic soft coral and sponges in large quantity that provide a stunning, colourful vista. We saw several eagle rays, barracuda, nurse shark, tuna, jacks and there is a wealth of small critters to see in amongst the reef flora. There are lots of my favourithe fish; filefish, trunkfish, parrotfish, trigger fish etc. The diving ranges from the easy (12-14m reefs) to medium (20-25m reefs and wrecks) to the deep wrecks (30m +) like the Bianca C, Hildur, Rhum Runner etc so whateveryou want to do, there is plenty of it.
