“Great Value Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

The hotel is built on the side of the hill over looking Grand Anse Beach and offers spectacular views across to St Georges and beyond. As the previous review states there is a road between the rooms and the pool, restaurants and beach but this is Grenada you will not be inconvenienced by it at all. The rooms are basic but very clean and well presented, if you go on holiday to spend all your time in your room you may want more but if you want somewhere to sleep, wash, chill out and relax in then you won't be disappointed. The rooms have a shower over the bath with plenty of hot water, A/C, a big comfortable bed, room safe, kettle, fridge, hairdryers, TV, clock and phone - all you need.
Beach towels are provided so that is a bit less you need to take and there is a free library to take and leave books next to reception.
Two restaurants one right on Grand Anse Beach serving snack type meals, both serving the same main evening meals and the Owl Bar that opens until late (or early depending how you look at it). Rooms do not notice any noise from either the bar or restaurants. If the steps become a bit much get the provided golf buggy to transport you around.
The staff were helpful, efficient and friendly.
All in all this is a well run, friendly, mid priced hotel and you get more than your money worth. I will use this hotel on my next trip to Grenada.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view, there are a lot of steps, use the golf buggy if that is a problem.

Rooms are small and in dire need of a facelift. Hotel is across the street from the beach, which is reached by stairs. Overpriced in general. Breakfast for 2 adults and 2 7 year olds was $61! Selection was very basic. And as usual service was terrible.

Thank you for your review. Feedback from our patrons is encourage and appreciated. Our rooms being small and our resort being overpriced are comments not usually received. It is regrettable that our resort did not meet your expectations.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We spent 2 weeks in February 2013 at The Flamboyant in a self-catering suite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Do choose this hotel if you want:
- a stunning view (see below for room tips)
- a quiet but convenient location (10 minute walk from centre of Grand Anse and the shopping Mall)
- a choice of beaches (one at the hotel and another at Morne Rouge close-by, both with good natural shade)
- friendly staff
- the opportunity to self-cater (though there are a variety of meal plans)
- a locally owned hotel with a Caribbean atmosphere
- excellent value for money

Don't go here if you are looking for:
- luxurious accommodation (rooms are comfortable and clean but a little tired)
- animation teams and a lively night-life or a state of the art gym

A few other points to note:
*This hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties as it is built on a steep hillside and there are a lot of steps! (a golf buggy is available but It would be a bit restricting to have to rely on this)

*Food in the restaurant is good but not exceptional, and we thought it was expensive. Food which is as good and much cheaper is available atUmbrellas Restaurant , just along the beach

* Use the local buses which are cheap, frequent and quite an experience! (The number 1 runs into St George's from the roundabout at the Spiceland Mall)

Room Tip: All the rooms have fabulous views of Grand Anse Beach to St George's. However, at lower levels...

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the hotel and we have had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday for a long time. The hotel is in a fantastic position overlooking the Grand Anse bay, the facilities - restaurant and choice of food for meat/fish/vegetarians were excellent (we were all inclusive),our bedroom with a ocean/beach view was spacious and clean. A big plus is the excellent staff who are so helpful, efficient and friendly. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to return.

Wow wow wow fantastic holiday, rooms spotless, staff very friendly and helpful, food fabulous. This is a hotel for normal people who want to chill. You can eat and drink beachside all day and night, which you can't do at many others. Locals use the bar and restaurant so you don't feel you are in a resort. As its built on hill not good for less mobile but they have golf buggies to take you up and down. There is light entertainment several times in the week which is handy as buses stop after dark and taxis are dear.

Room Tip: Best views are at the top of the hill

Recommended by a Grenadian client as a lower-cost alternative on a business trip, we were delightfully surprised at the value for money, friendly service and the amenities offered by the Flamboyant Hotel & Villas.

I have to say that when we drove up, the building was about what I would expect from a budget hotel on a hill, just off the beach (photo "hotel"). That ended when we saw our rooms and then went downhill to see the rest of this expansive, beachfront property. My room, about 300sf (28m2), was high-ceiling, brightly painted, nicely finished and scrupulously clean. And it comes with a million-dollar view of the Flamboyant beach and St. George's bay. (see photo "bay").

Let me note here that The Flamboyant is laid out vertically, on the side of a hill leading down to their beach. There are many uneven steps to move from your upper elevation room to the pool level and down to the restaurants/bar or beach on the lowest elevation (picture "elevation"). For those who need or simply want it, there is a free, concierge golf-cart service, available any time, to take you to any other location on the property. My longest wait was around 10 minutes. Even my mom, who uses a walker, could stay here.

The hotel offers larger rooms and rooms with cooking facilities. The restaurant food is tasty and fairly priced, as are libations. They will also cook your own fresh catch, or even fish you may buy in the fish-market downtown. They use the EC dollar, which makes Grenada attractively priced to the US dollar. The hotel has their own beach, right on St. George's bay, with a beach club, bar and restaurant. Service anywhere on the property is very friendly and the people welcoming. Each person we met at the Flamboyant acted like a proud Ambassador for Grenada.

Grenada, while having a lot to offer vacationers, is a little off the beaten path. Grenadians recognize this and offer a most-wonderful welcome, especially to stay-over tourists. There are many wonderful places to eat, lot's of interesting history and a culture of national pride that her people are demonstrably happy to share. If you are looking for a lower priced alternative hotel to base yourself in while visiting Grenada, I highly recommend the Flamboyant Hotel and Villas.

Room Tip: Rooms on the hill closer the reception building have the best access to the pool and beach via steps...

The Caribbean experience at the Flamboyant is grounded in the culture and environment of Grenada. We are happy that you had the opportunity to discover some of the riches that our island has to offer. Your high recommendation of our hotel is appreciated and hope you will be back some day to enjoy our island again.

I booked the Flambouyant for my family who were visiting with mobility issues. They were given the rooms closest to the road which was perfect. A golf buggy was available at all times in the day to assist them if needed. The gates to the rooms are locked at night but if you call or pass reception they will come and let you in/out after 6.30pm.

The room was very clean with good bedding and nice towels. Standard hotel room accessories such as TV, fridge, kettle, safe, iron were all in good working order.

The staff throughout the resort from chambermaids to reception crew and wait staff were courteous, friendly and helpful.

The Owl bar has some non-favorable reviews on here but myself and my family found it to be a nice but standard sports bar with happy hours from 4-7pm. The bar food is nice and also available as lunch by the pool brought up from the restaurant. If there is two big games on then staff were happy to change the channels so no-one misses out.

The beach is right at the end of Grand Anse and is a pretty but quiet corner to relax in. Snorkel gear is available from the dive center on site.

The restaurant is very picturesque but with the most expensive prices for dining in. Far better quality food was found in other restaurants and for a much more reasonable price. Apart from the Gary Rhodes restaurant at the Calabash Hotel (which you expect to be more expensive) this was extortionate in comparison to elsewhere.

The swimming pool area was perfect for my disabled brother to relax in a safe environment with a games room with table tennis and pool/snooker table. You can also play pool at the Owl Bar for 50cents a game.

I would recommend this value for money hotel to friends and family visiting Grenada. It is central yet quite and of a good standard. Thanks to all the staff.
