My partner and I recently stayed at the Flamboyant Hotel and would definitely return on our next stay. That said, if you are looking for a luxurious 5-star property, you will likely be disappointed. If, however, you are looking for an affordable, friendly, locally owned and operated hotel with a fantastic view of Grand Anse beach and St. George's Bay, you'll enjoy the Flamboyant. The major selling point of the hotel is its location on the southern end of Grand Anse. The rooms are not luxurious but they are comfortable, clean and all have views of the beach/bay with balconies. The service at the hotel was excellent, particularly the hotel manager/owner Lawrence Lambert who will do anything to make your stay comfortable. As the hotel is close to town and several good restaurants, we didn't opt for the meal plan. We ate breakfast and some lunches there and the food was good. The service at the beach bar could be slow but that's the Caribbean pace... We had several good meals in St. George's, including, "The Beach House" (very good, also the most expensive meal we had there), "Coconut Beach" (you can walk there from the hotel on the beach) and "The Red Crab" (popular with the sailing crowd). Also at "The Nutmeg" in town which had a local flavour. One of the best diving shops, "Dive Grenada" is right next to the hotel on the beach -- they were excellent. Finally, I noticed that some reviews mentioned the fact that there are numerous steps down to the beach. This didn't particularly strike me when I was there but the hotel is on a hill so if you're older, need a wheelchair, etc., it might be something to consider. Not a major deal otherwise.
