“Loved the Flamboyant”

The Flamboyant Hotel & Villas

My girl friend and I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Flamboyant Hotel in Grenada. The hotel is in a great position on a hill at the "quiet" end of Grand Anse beach. On the hill means steps, but on the hill also means the most fabulous views from almost every vantage point. The main dining room must have some of the best "dining" views around from the huge picture windows, it's like sitting on a cruise ship! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very tasty and the staff very attentive and friendly. Grenada is a very beautiful Island and great fun to drive around even without road signs! The people on the island mirrored the "Flamboyant friendliness" and made hiring a car a great way to see the Island.........what more can I say.

We will return as soon as possible.

The views from the rooms are wonderful. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. The cleaners try and work around when you are in / out of your room and are reallay flexible about it. The Dive Shop attached (Dive Grenada) is great - really helpful, friendly, professional, entertaining and safe - for all standards from beginners to dive masters. Highly recommended!

“A friendly, beachfront hotel”

The Flamboyant Hotel & Villas

Mar 10, 2008

My partner and I recently stayed at the Flamboyant Hotel and would definitely return on our next stay. That said, if you are looking for a luxurious 5-star property, you will likely be disappointed. If, however, you are looking for an affordable, friendly, locally owned and operated hotel with a fantastic view of Grand Anse beach and St. George's Bay, you'll enjoy the Flamboyant. The major selling point of the hotel is its location on the southern end of Grand Anse. The rooms are not luxurious but they are comfortable, clean and all have views of the beach/bay with balconies. The service at the hotel was excellent, particularly the hotel manager/owner Lawrence Lambert who will do anything to make your stay comfortable. As the hotel is close to town and several good restaurants, we didn't opt for the meal plan. We ate breakfast and some lunches there and the food was good. The service at the beach bar could be slow but that's the Caribbean pace... We had several good meals in St. George's, including, "The Beach House" (very good, also the most expensive meal we had there), "Coconut Beach" (you can walk there from the hotel on the beach) and "The Red Crab" (popular with the sailing crowd). Also at "The Nutmeg" in town which had a local flavour. One of the best diving shops, "Dive Grenada" is right next to the hotel on the beach -- they were excellent. Finally, I noticed that some reviews mentioned the fact that there are numerous steps down to the beach. This didn't particularly strike me when I was there but the hotel is on a hill so if you're older, need a wheelchair, etc., it might be something to consider. Not a major deal otherwise.

Stayed at the Flamboyant late 24 January to 7 Feb 2008.
As with the previous reviewers I have no qualms in recommending this hotel. Stunning location and food of a high standard.

Some of the rooms are awaiting their turn to be updated, but this does not mean that they are poor quality, indeed all rooms have excellant beds and cleanliness of the highest order.
The staff are a credit to Mr Lambert who is always around willing to chat.

The only tiny criticism is Mr Lambert's personal choice of music for the pool area, of this he is well aware !! May I suggest that future guests take along to donate to the pool area, a CD of music that they think is appropriate to the setting of it's carribean location.

Would I go again ? Too right I would !!!

“Big View - Can see why people love it”

The Flamboyant Hotel & Villas

Feb 28, 2008

As many have said, the Flamboyant must have one of the best views of any hotel anywhere in the world. Stretching before you is the long Grande Anse Beach curving around to St George’s in the distance.

The hotel isn’t swish, but it’s the kind of place that grows on you – and clearly most people seem to love it.

We moved in after having stayed at a slightly more expensive hotel, and at first we were a little crestfallen. Our room seemed to be one of the older ones and was a bit tired. The bathroom was quite old and somewhat depressing. It needed a refurb. But the room was spacious, well-equipped and clean – and there was that view.

We later visited what seemed to be a more modern apartment and it was much nicer. How much more that costs we don’t know, but it would have been worth it.

The hotel restaurant served a very good meal the one night we ate there, and the late night Owl Bar seems to be popular – but we never visited it. Next door is Savvy’s restaurant, which is worth a visit as the food is OK and they’ve got a great night time view of St George’s.

The Flamboyant is quite informal and has excellent and friendly staff. They were very pleasant and helpful - particularly with a courtesy room as we had a late departure.

There’s plenty of room to lie in the sun, if that’s your thing, as there are terraces overlooking the bay, as well as the pool area. And if you walk up and over the hill you’ll find yourself in a very pleasant bay. The cold beer and rotis in the beach bar were much enjoyed.

The Dive Grenada centre at the foot of the hotel is highly recommended. They’re a pleasant crowd and the equipment looks new – which is change from some of the Caribbean dive centres we’ve been to. The wreck dive is an interesting one. It’s very reasonably priced, too. Snorkeling in Grand Anse and neighbouring bays proved poor, though, due to low visibility and acres of kelp.

We took a plane and boat trip to Union Island and then Tobago Keys – where the water was like crystal.

We made one elementary mistake when out and about in Grenada, and that was letting the credit card out of our sight in several places. We never do that in the UK – but there are no chip & pin machines in Grenada (as far as we can tell) and our guard was down. So, you’ll guess what happened next… We can’t be 100 per cent sure of course, but we strongly suspect the details were taken in Grenada.

So, back to the Flamboyant. It has a host of loyal fans. It’s a relaxed, fairly low-frills kind of place, but very pleasant – and you could sit and gaze at that view for hours. We enjoyed our stay.
