“Fantastic stay”

Really not much more to add that other's haven't said already. Extremely relaxing resort. Sometimes we would even wonder if we were the only one's there. Food was absolutely exceptional at this resort. Presentation, taste and variety was beyond more than we had expected. Also, on another note, we did one tour while on the island with Mandoo (sp?). He was a great, knowledgeable, polite, curteous, etc.. tour guide. Would highly recommend him.

Room Tip: Had the Seagrape room. Was fantastic, back balcony opens up right onto the beach.

I stayed here in october and had a wonderful time, the room was absolutely huge ( I was in a Sea Grape Beach Suite )and gorgeous and had a patio with a hammock and then led straight onto the beach - fabulous. All the staff were extremely helpful and I met a lot of guests who were repeat customers coming back year after year. The food was delicious and the ambiance in the restaurant was just the best, all in all an excellent hotel and fab beach and I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anybody whether couples, individuals or families.

If you can afford it, you won't regret staying at this resort. If you like to be treated with courtesy and respect at all times then this is the place for you. Staff are well trained to make you their number one priority. When occasionally things go wrong ( as is human) the management team go out of their way to make up for it. For example, one afternoon we were enjoying a 3 course lunch but the dessert was rather late in arriving( > 45 mins) so as it was getting late and we had sunbathing and swimming to do, we asked them to cancel it. Later that day, as an apology, we received a good bottle of champagne in an ice bucket delivered to our room ! With a compliments card:-) If you are going to stay here, the sea grape rooms are the only place to be! Right on the beach and definitely worth upgrading to if you can. It's a family run hotel and you get a weekly invite from Sir Royston Hopkin ( owner) to a cocktail party either at his phenomenal home or the hotel itself. He really cares that you have a great experience. Nice guy :-)

We stayed at the Spice Island this summer and my daughters have been asking since when we are going back. We had a Seagrape Suite, which was perfect for us as they open almost straight out onto the beach. This means you can paddle/swim and make sandcastles without having to lug a load of stuff from your room. The food in the restaurant was fabulous in my opinion, although my husband thought it was too fussy at times and the children's menu didn't change which was a shame (but having said that, they could order from the grown up one so that was fine). We were half board as we aren't big drinkers and I think that worked out best (we couldn't have eaten or drunk anything like enough to justify all inclusive !) My only gripe (which I did know about to be fair) was that as one of our daughters is under 5 we couldn't eat dinner in the main restaurant. I thought this would be fine, but its not really great when you are the only people not doing so !

The beach is lovely, the snorkelling good (better some days than others apparently) and the trip we did round the island on a dull day was very interesting. There isn't that much else to do however, so you need to be a beach/pool lover really. Our girls went to the kids club a few times which they enjoyed, although personally I would have liked a bit less Wii and a bit more getting out and about, but they liked it, so who am I to complain !

We all had a great holiday overal though and would recommend it.

We discovered this beach resort while trying to book a caribbean holiday with virgin holidays, we wanted an island that was going to have fairly good weather for the time of the year and less likely to be affected by the hurricane season being towards the end of October. We were very pleased with our choice, on arrival at the airport in Grenada we were met by the virgin rep, a very nice lady who had lived on the island for about 27 years named Joanna. She welcomed my wife and i arranged to meet up with us at the hotel the next day and put us in an air conditioned taxi to the resort which was about 10 mins away. Once we got to the resort everything was 1st class! from the bell hop to the receptionist who booked us in and arranged for our luggage to be taken to our suite as all the rooms were suites. Ours was a very large air conditioned room with what i believe was a queen sized bed, 2 reclining chairs and all the bedroom furniture you could need and yet still very spacious. The bathroom was something else, it was the size of a bedroom in some hotels! it had a large jacuzzi bath, a purpose built wet room which could easily take more than 2 people and a towelling area where one could hold a little soiree.
Breakfast was buffet style freshly baked pastries with some of the menu prepared to specification from the kitchen. Dinner was a la carte with 5 dishes of fine dining, we did not have lunch at the resort as we were on half board basis, the only criticism i have is that we had to pay for soft drinks that we had with our dinner, would have understood being charge for alcoholic drinks! Its probably best to go on an all inclusive basis if you were into drinking as you would get unlimited premium alcoholic beverages included in the package. In all though the holiday was not cheap, you get what you pay for! and this was a quality holiday at a top end resort.
PS: there were lots of activities that were available off the resort on the island that could be booked through sunsation which was affiliated with the resort.

This hotel was recommended to us and it certainly lived up to expectations. From the moment we arrived everybody and everything was outstanding. The staff made a point of remembering your name and they were always smiling. The food was of a very high quality and changed every night. It is not the cheapest hotel on the Island but you get what you pay for. This hotel was excellent in every way.

Room Tip: Suggest Sea Grape room as this looks directly onto the beach

It was 15 years ago when we first stayed at the Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada. At that time my wife was a travel agent. She had received a VERY special discount offer from this hotel and, in spite of knowing virtually nothing about it or the island (except that Reagan had invaded it!), we decided to accept, their "offer we couldn't refuse." It turned-out to be one of THE best vacations we have EVER enjoyed, including our past stays at Rock Resorts. The facilities were, obviously, SEVERAL years old but they were still quite lovely. The rooms were clean, well furnished and comfortable, the food was delicious, the water was beautiful (it's beauty exceeded only by that in Tahiti) and the wine/beer/booze flowed . . . freely. All this in an "All Inclusive Package"! A few years back (about 6-7 years ago?) the island and the resort were hit by a terrible hurricane (Ivan?) and virtually blown away. We had often wondered if the replacement resort would still be as great as the original had been. Well, we now know such thoughts were uncalled for. It is even BETTER than it was! ALL the facilities (rooms, furnishings, restaurants, bars, the pool, etc.) were marvelous! We had read some reviews by guests who had complained about the food. The main issues raised expressed the thoughts that the chef was, "creative" to the extent that the results were well beyond his abilities. Au Contraire! We found the selections most interesting, extensive and excellent. There was, however, one evening that we and our traveling companions saw nothing on the ever-changing menu that appealed to us. One of the restaurant supervisors overheard our expressions of disappointment and immediately asked what we'd LIKE to have. One of us said, "Well, I'd like some lobster tail." The other 3 chimed-in saying, they'd choose that, too. "No problem" was the supervisors immediate response. "Would you like it boiled or grilled and basted in garlic butter." We chose the latter. It was wonderful! This is the sort of service that we were treated to during our entire 8 day stay. We have NEVER, at any of our many vacation stays, witnessed such attention to detail and such hospitality form EVERY employee; from the lowest tier to the very highest (including the Owner and Managing Director who, on one evening, invited every guest in their 64 room facility, to a cocktail party at his families lovely home, situated atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea". Our ONLY negative relative to this vacation was the specific, "location" of our ocean front rooms. We all agreed that if (when?) we return we will be certain NOT to again be housed in rooms 44-45-46-47. The reason for saying this is that these rooms are located at the very South end of the Resort's property-line. This is the point where beach access is provided to the public which means there is a continuing stream of people walking/talking very close-by our rooms. Also, this is the location of a continuing project for clearing-out the sand accumulation that, if not removed daily, blocks a drain to the sea. The workmen who were there every day talked loudly and almost constantly while playing their radios, creating an unwelcome intrusion to our serenity. And, beautiful as the beach, flora and fauna were (even at this very spot) there was an unsightly, chain-link fence located on the property line. And, finally, on Sunday (when most of the "locals" are off from work) this location is a MAJOR gathering spot on the beach (which is, of course, not private property) for their rather rowdy celebrating, all day long and well into the following morning. Not so great for a premium property at premium rates. Still, this was our ONLY negative regarding our entire stay and it definitely did NOT spoil our vacation. It's just that everything would have been completely PERFECT otherwise. When we return we will also specify that we do NOT want to be near the North end property line, either. We believe ANY rooms other than the last 4 at either end of the Resort property line, would be A-OK. In summary, though, I hasten to repeat that this is, likely, our favorite resort of all where we've stayed in the past. We are not at all reluctant to, HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Spice Island Beach Resort!

Room Tip: Specify that you do NOT want to stay in any of the last 4 beach-front rooms near the resort property...
