-Wear SUNSCREEN. We had 70 spf and still burned thorugh. Everyone at our resort was scorched. Pack swim shirts (with long sleeves) for the kids.
-Not a very pretty place inland - poverty stricken and run down, but beautiful beaches and resorts.

Hello! We went to Natura Park in Feb./08 and we were reluctant because of a bunch of bad reviews that we read on different web sites. I can tell you that the people who wrote these sure have a different idea of a good time than I do because my girlfriend and I both would have to reach deep to find anything to complain about. It is a quiet resort and maybe not to much night life, but it was a little slice of paradise to us. The food was good and plentiful, they provided us with lots of bottled water and of course enough alcohol to float a boat. The people were helpful, but very busy, so be patient and remember you are on holidays not sitting in traffic waiting to go home after a bad day at the office. I think the 4 star rating is pretty accurate in my opinion and would recommend this place to anyone I know.
Enjoy and have fun!
I just returned from Punta Cana Feb 2 2008. The beach was fantastic as was the swimming in the ocean. If you go there for shopping then you may be dissappointed because where we were at there was a small group of huts about 1/4 mile down the beach to find little trinkets, beach bags, etc. You can definitely barter down a lot for what you want. I did not venture off the resort area because of the ride from the airport. I would recommend not taking a car or scooter around. There were no traffic lights and the drivers were crazy with all the locals on scooters or bicycles and a lot of pot holes. They are building a new highway to and from the airport and things may get better in the future. I went for a relaxing vacation to just lay around on the beach and swim in the ocean and was not disappointed.
I doubt I will travel to Punta Cana again. The beach is beautiful however so OVERcrowded. The people there just are not nice to americans. This is my observation. They take advantage of your kindness. I gave money to a boy whom said he was hungry and watched for awhile. Then I watched the parents high-five the young boy.
The excurisions are unsafe and not much for explaining. I really wanted to snorkle and scuba however I did not feel safe trusting them with my life. They laugh at americans because we do not understand. They think we are all loaded with dough and expect us to pay top knotch. I felt that the beach was the best part and I would recommend staying out of town.
I just did'nt feel welcomed or safe in the Dominican. I would keep your young children at home.
