We recently returned from our first trip to the Dominican Republic at the Now Larimar... our overall experience was excellent! We have traveled to Riviera Maya to a few resorts as well, and what made this one stand out was the friendliness of the staff. Our wait staff at the buffet - Julio, Leudy, and Daniel - were superior and always made us feel welcome! They were extremely professional and friendly to our whole group of 15... was nice to walk in and see their smiling faces ready for us. At the pool, Daniela, Mercedes, Junior, and Efrain were always there to make sure we never were without drinks! Daniela especially - she had the task of serving at the pool and was nice to chat with and really took special care of everyone. We enjoyed talking with Karen, of the Entertainment staff, and she really made the kids feel welcome too.
Overall the food was great... my favorite was the buffet at the beach. You could always get some grilled chicken, fish, or chops... Chicken was amazing! Nachos and fries were great too. Buffet always had something for everyone. I'd highly recommend the Italian restaurant - we went there two nights of our seven-night stay. The Mexican restaurant was ok (but too dark and service was a bit slow), and the Japanese steakhouse was just ok as well. I'd highly recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club - that really made a difference as well. Nice to have a separate pool, special lounges, and upgraded drink selections.
Only a few minor complaints... one day our room wasn't cleaned until after 5, which was a bit inconvenient with 5- and 3-year olds. But after we complained, it wasn't a big deal and was always cleaned early after that. The resort is very friendly to children, although I'd recommend to the hotel having more child-friendly cups (in some cases the kids were drinking from the glass water goblets!) and possibly a section of the buffet with chicken nuggets and other kid selections. You could always find something for the kids, but in many cases it was scattered throughout.
The location was great without being too far from the airport, and the beach was amazing. Overall I would recommend this resort and we would return again. Thanks to all the great staff at the Now Larimar for helping to create this wonderful experience!

This was my first experience with an all inclusive resort. The food was good overall and the Buffett (Carnival Restaurant) was the best bet especially if you have picky eaters. The Mexican restaurant was disappointing but the rest of other options were pretty decent. When it came to drinks they had Presidente Beer and any mixed drink you'd like but it tasted watered down and the wine was not that good. You can purchase a bottle of wine which might be better and you can upgrade to VIP to get a little more of a selection of beers or better quality drinks. As far as the rooms they were very clean. I was in the garden view section which is a little bit away from the beach and main lobby. However, It was not a big deal as there was always a bellman available to take you but if you decide to walk its not that bad. I did not like that the lobby called me to pick up my coupons for discounts that I was promised and when I got there they were really trying to sell a time share and they were very aggressive. Even though I made it clear we were not interested they would not listen and we literally had to get up and walk away. Overall the staff was very nice and the grounds are beautiful.

First room had bed bugs. Deluxe garden view puts you in a secondary campus of the hotel complex which requires a shuttle to get to the main hotel. Requires 10 minutes of walking to get to the beach. Rooms are fairly clean except for the bugs. Pools are somewhat clean with debris from either grass or the palms around. I was expecting a room in the main hotel for $1600 (8 nights). Service is complete basura. Food is bad. The restaurants take about an hour to bring you the food. The buffet is so and so. Go to Hard Rock says everyone and their mother there.

Our family visited the NOW Larimar in April 2013. We are an American family of 4, kids are 5 and 7 years old. I had stayed at other NOW properties in Mexico, but this was our first trip to the Dominican Republic and this property. Overall we had a fantastic time and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone-family or single, any age if you are looking for a solid all inclusive experience. The pros of this property- the beach is really large and very pretty. The staff is so attentive, friendly and welcoming. We had the same waiters at most of our meals and they really went above & beyond to make us feel welcome and to make us feel like it was our home for a week. In particular-special thanks to Jose DiFuemte, Miguel Carbayar, Daniel Vier, and Wander, Franklin and Kelvin. They made us feel so special and took care of any request we had at meals. Also, the NOW Entertainment team- Daniela, Mercedes, Junior and Edwin always made sure our kids had a smile on their face and they really enjoyed the activities at the pool and beach. If you are a beach person & you want a view, then upgrade to the Preferred club. Not only will you have access to the quieter and smaller pool and the beach front restaurant, but you will be closer to the beach and the beautiful views. This property is very large (like most DR properties) so if you are not in Preferred you will have a fairly long walk to the beach and you won't be able to eat lunch or breakfast at the ocean front restaurant. The grounds are very well kept, the hotel is clean and the food is very good for an all inclusive. We all ate very well. Our kids enjoyed the Kids Club too-they have movies every night so if you are a parent and want to have some time off or a date night- it really can happen (to our amazement, which was a pleasant surprise). We felt very safe on the property and though we did not leave the property they have excursions you can organize there. Thank you very much to everyone at NOW Larimar for making our family spring break so memorable!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money to upgrade to Preferred Club. It is worth it.

Our family of six (grand parents, us parents and two young kids ages 6 and 9) just returned from a fabulous seven days vacation at Now Larimar. We chose this resort based on Trip Advisor’s reviews and we’re glad we did it. The resort, including the rooms and the ground are immaculate. The beach and the sand are out of this world beautiful. The resort's staff are “EXCELENTE”. We used mostly the buffet for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We also dined at the Japanese and Italian restaurants and they were OK. Below are some of the highlights and comments during our stay.

1. Upon of arrival at the resort, I was hoping to upgrade to preferred rooms from the Garden view rooms but there weren’t any rooms available. Carlos Manso Arroyo, the deputy manager at the garden view side, assured us that we would love our rooms and helped us changed 1 room to the first floor to accommodate our dad who just had a heart surgery and couldn’t walk the stair. He also explained to us in details about the resorts accommodations.

2. We had some issues with the room (sliding door won’t lock and smell of smoke) and upon talking with Jesus at the garden view lobby, he walked with me to the room to inspect it and changed the room for us right away – Kudos to Jesus ;-)


3. One of our favorite staff members was Aristides – the bellman. He was the one who helped us get the luggage up to/from our rooms, transported us between our rooms to the main lobby and the beach. He was friendly and extremely helpful that the grand parents and the kids liked him and sort of missed him when we left

4. On the second day of our stay, both my mom and my wife encountered a minor issue when ordered drinks at the pool bar near the beach – the Reef bar, I think. One of the bartenders there just ignored them and took orders from other guests. At first, I ignored this issue, since we were on vacation but it happened several times including the time the whole family was at the bar. We just sat there for several minutes while this bartender took order from another guest, who just walked up to the bar and stood next to us. At this time, I confronted this bartender that weren’t not happy of his services. I then talked to the concierge desk at the main lobby about this issue without telling him the bartender’s name (we didn’t want him to get in trouble). From then on, we got better services from him. I believe the concierge desk relayed my complain so my special thanks to someone at that concierge desk.

5. There are many staff members that went out of his/her way to make our vacation much more pleasurable. Unfortunately, I don’t remember their names, so I want to say “Muchas gracias” to all staff from the restaurants, buffet, lobby, housekeeping, bellmen, bar, gardening, and especially the “entertainment crews. My whole family loved the shows every night and my wife actually took 2500+ pictures for this trip ;-

This was our fourth trip to Punta Cana and this resort was the best one. We stayed at other resorts before including the 6 apples rating one, but this resort provided the most friendly, relaxing and memorable vacation in Caribbean. We can't wait to come back since my wife already talked about our next year trip with "Now Larimar"

Had a wonderful vacation at the Now Larimar resort in Punta Cana! Beautiful beach, wonderful people, relaxing and fun! When we first got there, we were staying on the Garden view side. It was so far away from all the action! You had to take a golf cart to the main lobby, pools, beach, etc. It was very easy to get a staff member to take you on the cart, but still a hassle nonetheless. Also, my room that first night was so muggy, I could barely breathe.. even with the AC on high. It was awful! Didn't get much sleep that night. We ended up upgrading rooms to the pool view, mainly to be closer to all the action and not have to worry about the golf cart. The rooms were SO much better. It was not expensive at all to upgrade. They gave us a deal since we had a party of 5 with 3 rooms, so we got a "group rate" at $30/room/night. Not bad at all, and TOTALLY worth the extra money. It was nice to be able to be closer to the pools and beach and still be able to run up to your room quickly if you needed to. The staff was great! Very friendly. Specifically, to name a few... Karen, Ysabel, Jose, JC, Mickey Mouse, Chocolate (Entertainment Team), Master Kelvin, Victor, and Miguel (The Mix poolside bar), Carlos (made the best cappuccinos!), Mauricio and Super Mario (beach canoe bar), Elvis (restaurant waiter), etc! Everyone was very enthusiastic and fun. The Entertainment Team was amazing! There was always an activity going on, whether at the pools or beach. We loved to walk back and forth and participate in the fun! One of the best activities was the foam party in the pool! Major bubbles! There was also a ton of dance performances (in the pool, on the Plaza, on the beach at night, everywhere!). We also loved playing beach volleyball, especially when we played a tournament the last day against the staff. We also did kayaks and catamarans in the ocean (all included). The food was mediocre. Not great, but not terrible. Our favorite restaurants were Spice (Hibachi), Bluewater Grill (amazing ribs!), and Mercure (French cuisine). The beach and pools were clean, the sand is white and NEVER hot, and the scenery is beautiful. The only negative about the beach was all the seaweed!!! It was everywhere. You could still swim, but it was just annoying. Also, even though there was a ton of activity, we felt like the beach was still quiet enough and relaxing if you just wanted to sit and read a book. We had a wonderful trip, and we would definitely go back again!

Positives:
Great entertainment team they go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay and try to involve you in all the activities. Its amazing the amount of talent they have and how they always have a smile. I just want to mention some of the entertainment staff that made my stay so pleasurable: mickey mouse whos dancing skills are spectacular, karen who always took time to cuddle my 2 yr old son and jose who was just a funny guy.
The shows in this hotel are great and hilarious and really make the stay very pleasurable.
The hotel also has a bar right on the beach which is great instead of having to walk back to bar everytime you want a drink. The bartender Mauricio made excellent drinks, he made me a Bahama mama with fresh bannanas every afternoon. Hes the only bartender that I would actually finish his drinks.
Another good thing about this hotel is that they dont haggle you with time share presentations.
The staff is incredibly accomodating and try to make every request a priority.
Now for the negatives:
Food is not that good. Meat quality sucks and they dont seam to season the meat enough. The resteraunts all have the same food just with a different twist. Your better off eating in the buffets. I think its odd they dont have typical food from the country as an option. I know that all inclusives cant have the best food but ive traveled to majestic elegance and their food was way better but their service wasnt great. I guess everythings a trade off.
Another horrible thing is that if when you book you choose garden view they stick in you in a building thats outside the main hotel and you have to take a trolley for eveything. In there defense the garden complex does have a pool and 1 resteraunt but its still very annoying especially with a child to have to trolley to the beach and shows. I also want to give a special thanks to jesus who changed our room so that our balcony can have a better view.
Overall this hotel was good I had a blast. The food quality needs to improve though.
