It's been two weeks since we returned from our fabulous vacation at the Now Larimar. Our first visit was three years ago when the resort was the Nh Real Arena. At the time we chose the resort because the availability of rooms with an outdoor jacuzzi, a fabulous beach and we consistently read comments on trip advisor that the resort was very clean. So it hit our top three criteria. We weren't disappointed! We loved the resort and the outstanding service we received from Marcelino and his team ensured our vacation was perfect. We had such a great time and loved the resort so much we returned again the following two years. Honestly, every other resort we looked at that offered similar things we were looking for could not compare in value or offer the full package of features that we were looking for. This resort was fantastic three years ago and has even gotten better and made several improvements since our first visit.
We chose to upgrade to the Preferred Club for our three visits and it was well worth it for us. They have definitely worked to improve this area of the resort. The room category is fantastic, separate pool and swim up bar for Preferred Club only, separate area on the beach, restaurant on the beach for breakfast and lunch which we loved, two Preferred Club lounges with top shelf liquor and free wi-fi. While we were there they replaced all the loungers around the pool, upgraded clocks in room to iPod docking and brought in DVD players.
As mentioned, the beach is great and they work at it all day to keep the seaweed to a minimum. They have made a lot of improvements to the gym and Elvis keeps it looking great. We visited the new garden section several times to go to the buffet and Italian restaurant and must say this area looks fantastic. We would highly recommend. We ate at all the restaurants over our two week visit and enjoyed all of them. The French and Mexican was our favourite. We love that we don't have to make reservations ahead of time. I'm on vacation and the last thing I want to do is make an appointment for anything. We never had a long wait to get a table no matter what time we arrived and it we were happy to grab a drink and wait our turn. We also used room service quite a bit and they were always very quick and professional when the delivery arrived.
By far what stood out the most for us was the staff and the level of service we receive every year. Our room was kept spotless by Leudy Diana and Rosa, Sardino kept our fridge well stocked every day. When we visited the resort three years ago, Kelvin was a waiter in the Japanese restaurant. He is now the Restaurant Manager and is doing a fabulous job. We always received outstanding service in all the restaurants and enjoyed our chats with him. While service from everyone was great, Hipolito was really exceptional. He ensured our dinners at the Mexican restaurant were extra special. We loved seeing David and his big smile at the buffet again this year. We are not surprised that we see his name mentioned often on Trip Advisor. Mercedes, Daniella and Junior P at the Preferred Club pool were fantastic and we looked forward to seeing them every day. We hope its the same group at the pool next year.
If you are lucky enough to spend some time at the Now Larimar, a visit to the sports bar Scores to meet Carlos is a must. For three years now this is where we end our evenings because we enjoy his company so much. He is really a great guy and you will be sure to be entertained. Finally, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to Marcelino and his staff, particularly Efrain. We had the privilege of meeting Marcelino three years ago and received top notch customer service from our first meeting. We have travelled a lot for both pleasure and work and I can honestly say any good service we have received is a distant second from the level of service we receive from Marcelino. We see him interact with all his guests and he ensures everyone receives care and attention during their stay.
Needless to say, we love this resort and all it has to offer. We are already talking about our return visit for next year. I actually can't imagine being in Punta Cana and not seeing all the friends we have made at the Now Larimar.
Know your preferences and book accordingly. There is something for everyone.
