“Nice hotel -”

Stayed here in April 2012. The resort is nice, but quite large for my taste. The food in both the buffet and al la carte restaurants were good, but nothing special with the exception of the pizza place overlooking the water. These pizzas were superb! The omlet station was the best and the chef remembers you from day to day. A nice touch was the seafood dinner on the beach (an extra 30$), however the service was poor. The staff forget we were there after the main course and no more drinks or dessert were offered.

The spa was lacking. The masseuse used several Nivea products as part of the deluxe facial! The chocolate wrap and scrub was to die for but this was far from a luxury spa.

The people were friendly although a bit pushy off resort when it came to wanting you to buy things at the market. No did not mean no.

The beach was typical Punta Cana with high waves most days. Not too crowded and the bar at the beach was nice.

Room Tip: Oceanview room on the 3rd floor was breathtaking

Well what can its was my first time on this resort I've never been a resort that has 800 rooms. I can say that the front desk Mr. Miguel was so helpful made sure I was very happy with my room every time I saw him he'd ask if everything was ok and I thought that was awesome..then there was Jose that was a bell boy who helped move from room 6209 to 3302 them 2 days after was no longer a bell boy he was promoted which he deserves it.. Then we talk about buffet was fantastic 7 Al carte was great manager Miguel and Jose were fantastic people always with a smile on there face.. Entertainment group Juan ( mini me) was great at Mc made sure everyone was happy and participating in all the actives happy face Francis and the towel girl I forgot her name but the are great people Pietro Scooby Doo fantastic people then there was Andres who always said goodmorning and goodafternoon made sure I was having fun and that everything was ok its the little things that make people happy and he did....then the 24 hour restaurant Juan who did night shift fantastic person always had a joke and made all of use from Toronto happy then the manager Miguel in the morning awesome person always laughing and making jokes then Rolando always cooking burgers and hot dogs and making my eggs in the morning he worked very hard and long hours but always smiled no matter what.. Just want to take the opportunity to Thank everyone at barcelo punta cana premium for making my first time at this hotel very memorable.... I'm non as La Loca normally at the other resort but this time they all named me princess Aurora de barcelo premium...

Great hotel, small but you get to know everyone. The food is good & the service is great as well. I really enjoyed my stay here, from the moment we arrived, " minime" has filled my trip with greats laughs! If you come to Barcelo punta cana & want to have a good time make sure you talk to him!

The hotel was beautiful. Reception was very friendly. I stayed in the premium room which was a lot nicer than the older rooms ( we were a large group with 3 kids - 9 rooms). The hotel was very clean. The food was not very appetizing. The drinks were standard for hotel all-inclusive. Staff was rude and behaved indignant when asked for help/service. For every 15 staff personnel you encountered 1 was nice and helpful. I (along with 2 other rooms with my group) had problems with the a/c and complained various times. They said it was fixed but it wasn't it. They should just say they have fans not a/c (not good in the heat).

To start off...everyone wants a tip in this country. Everyone. You're not even allowed to take your own bag to your room because they ultimately want a tip out of it. Also, if you don't speak Spanish, you're looked at as a bother. I am from Texas and speak muy poquito Espanol. I tried my best with what little Spanish I do speak, and you could tell on the look on their face that they didn't care. P.S. Google Translate didn't work while I was over there.

The actual room...The entire door frame moved any time I opened and closed the door, and I would have asked to move, but being in a foreign country I wanted to stay on the same floor as my mother and step dad. And even though I booked a month and a half in advance, I didn't get a room assigned until the day I arrived. And low and behold, it was the last one available on the floor. So, if I would have gone to complain, I would have been moved to the other side of the property. I could literally see outside my door when it was closed, though, through the gaps. The walls were so thin that I have a recording on my phone of the neighbor's TV show. It's so loud that it sounds like it's in my room. And I could hear the man next door's snores as if he was sleeping in my bed. Ultimately, I wore headphones while I slept. The room's cleanliness was decent for being around a beach. I didn't go there expecting much better. The beach is beautiful. In fact, I would have much rather slept there than in the room. And because of my door situation, I propped a chair against the door just in case someone decided to try to come in.

The staff was hit and miss. But mostly on the things that counted, (IE: info on my shuttle back to the airport), they were terrible and clearly didn't want to help me out at all. I was told to be downstairs at check out around 12pm. I got down there at 11:45 (no phone calls were made to my room while I was packing). I checked out, then went over to the drive where I was told to show up and I was told that my shuttle had gotten there at 11:35am. Again...no one called me to let me know that they were waiting on me, nor was I told that they would be there that early. When they told me that I was left, they didn't seem at all obligated to help me in this dire situation. I finally ask them to get me a taxi since my phone wouldn't reach the line for the shuttle service and they said it would be $40. Awesome...throwing more money away even though I paid for transportation before the trip.
I would advise not to go to this hotel. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is gorgeous and the staff helps you so much more. And the all-inclusive restaurants are SOOOO worth it. (I hung out there during the day with the rest of my family who was staying there) For the extra hundred or so a night, I'd never stay anywhere else.

The resort was very clean. Staff very friendly.The pools were clean. Beach very quite. Night life could be way better. The shows were poor. The espresso machine is the best in the morning. Some travelers were complaining about their room but we were in the renovated section.

We booked a ten day vacation with Air Canada Vacations at the Barcelo Punta Cana. We had stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana last year and had an awesome vacation so we wanted to try a resort on the Bavaro beach area,
The hotel is showing its age. The furniture in the room was rather old and ratty. The bed was rather noisy. The drapes were full of holes, the balcony sliding doors wouldn't lock or slide very easily. The front door had a huge crack down one panel and I could see right out into the hall way.
After arriving early we had to wait till four in the afternoon to finally get a room .
We had been up for over thirty six hours and really needed a shower to freshen up and wake up. Well I jumped in the shower and low and behold there was no hot water and barely a trickle of cold water. I got refreshed in a hurry that's for sure.
We reported the water problem at the front desk and was assured that it would be fixed.
We were too late to make a dinner reservation so we ate a hamburger at the pool bar.
Next day got a warm shower in the morning just. There was warm water but no pressure.
The shower saga continued for a few more days.
The rest of the hotel was okay. I'm recovering from a broken ankle and had a room on the fourth floor so I decided to take an elevator one evening. Very scary, never used them again.
You have to make reservations for the restaurants which is okay but you need to get to the booking office early.
The food at all the restaurants was very good. The Italian was our favorite and the Mexican was a close second. Breakfast and lunch at the buffet was really good with lots to choose from. I had read reviews complaining about the buffet but I found it to be excellent.
There are a lot of bars but there was only one type of beer and the liquor was of poor quality.
The very best feature of the hotel is the beach. Soft golden sand and the waves were great fun never too rough unlike other area along the coast.
We went to theater every night and enjoyed the shows.
All in all once I got past the crappy room and terrible shower I enjoyed the rest of the resort.
