“"Best Trip Ever"”

Me & my husband had a great vacation in May 2015, we had a wonderful time and will return soon. The room was excellent and the food very good, we especially loved the nightly cookouts and dancing on the beach. The service was the best our room was always cleaned and smelled very fresh. The beach was fabulous, we had no problem finding a place to sit. The piano bar was our place to stop and visit friends before dinner and after that we had made during our stay and have a few laughs. I want to especially thank a few by name, Elaina, you were a sweetheart from day one, Sinencio, you are the best at your job, Wanderer, you are lots of fun, Andre's, you are the best & were missed the last night of our trip and Yoeaira, you are a great and fun. All of you made our vacation so much fun and we are friends for life. Thank you for all your hard work and hope to see you soon. Tony and Karen Johnson

First we were routed to 3 different places for check in, waited in several lines including lines for a cart to take us to 3 different places to check in. No one at the resort cared that it took nearly 2 hours for us to get checked in due to us being rerouted to the wrong places over and over again. We finally got to our room and then advised the staff of several problems with our room (a/c did not work, room smelled horribly of mildew, bathroom was filthy, phone did not work at all, door handle broke off so we were trapped in our hot, mildewy, dirty room - had to contact family in the states via email to get help). Advised front desk of issues - they did not care at all, at first they didn't even want to move us to a different room. Finally got to a different room (after much hassle), we were promised robes and slippers when booking the room (also on their website), asked at least 10 different times for them, never recieved them. Front desk staff advised that they would deliver bottle of champagne or rum to our room "for our troubles" and because we had advised them it was our 10 year anniversary celebration, never got anything. No one at front desk cared about condition of rooms. Both room smelled of mildew, 2nd room was not as bad as the first, but still bad. Beach is eroded and covered in piles and piles of seaweed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Me and my fiance went there in the end of April for two weeks. We had a wonderful time weather was very good.Starting from room it was ok there were couple bits we didn't like it. But we brought good holiday mood and we didn't bothered about small things such as door handle broken and a bit of smell in the room because of humidity. Most important thing was food wich we adored all a la carte restaurants were awesome even the pickest person would find something for their likings. The food itself was well prepared and it was served in very good manner and presentation. The drinks very good too especially in The Piano bar were barman makes awesome cocktails from menu and little something out of menu:) don't forget to tip them. The beach is nice but not the best.We liked Ma Loo bar in the beach they make fresh fruit cocktails very tasty. The Staff is alright some of them could smile more. Most important thing that we smiled a lot and had wonderful time and we got engaged:) That's the place where we would like to come back little paradise on Earth.

We loved out stay , the rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed on the adult only side but had access to the family side also which is nice . 12 different restaurants to choose from . The buffet had the same food everyday but it was still very good. The staff are very friendly and loved the beach beds by the ocean.

My wife and I stayed at the Catalonia Royal back in June, 2011 and I reviewed it at the time, and gave it 3 stars. This time I would give it 4 stars. Although my general thoughts about the resort have not changed terribly the things that have are generally for the better.

First this time we traveled a month earlier in the year, and the place seemed a bit less crowded. Even thought I trekked to the beach each morning for preferred spot on the beach with some shade, I probably did not have to at this time. When we made camp on the beach after breakfast I looked around and there were still some nice spots on the beach to be had. There did appear to be more Americans this time around than last time, which was a bad thing. The worst part of the trip was a group of four or five of my fellow countryman who just had to play their music as if this were the Jersey shore of my youth in the 1980s.

The service overall was up a notch. The beach staff was very attentive, and kept the beverage and snacks coming. We did tip, which I guess helped. If so it was well worth the typing. We also spent a fair amount of time around the Infinity pool, which is generally a peaceful quiet place to read and take cooling dunks in the water.

The food was more or less on par with our last trip. This is say it was fine. The only time I had my socks knocked off was the new lunchtime pizza place next to the main pool. It was excellent. We did not travel expecting high cuisine, but what we had was fine and sometimes quite good. The breakfast at the restaurant off the Lobby was always quite tasty.

Compared to four years ago the grounds are still well kept and pretty. The room was clean and spacious. We never had a problem with musty smells, and the A/C kept up with the humidity and heat of the most part. I like it really cold. My wife likes it slightly cool. We were both happy. Yes, the place in the corners could use a refurb. It's not things are not kept up, but a few bits of sidewalk and paint here and there could use a bit of TLC. Again, it was barely noticeable. Our bathroom had a conventional tile floor shower unlike the last trip where it was wooden planked and a bit weird. This was a genuine plus. We loved soaking in the tube after a day on the beach and before heading out for dinner.

Some things that have changed or at least I don't recall from last time is that when shopping for water, snacks, extra clothing items etc one can either put it on a credit card or charge it to the room. No cash transactions. It was a bit of a pain. Also, every restaurant we ate at either the Catalonia or the Royal we were asked to buy for extra a bottle of wine. Except for once we just had beer for free. (The wine was quite good if pricy as one would expect.) The drinks we had at the various bars were all quite good. The beer was good. It was perplexing how much beer one might get. Sometimes it came in a 6 oz glass, and the next time it game in a 16 oz goblet from the same bar within the same hour. We call it beer roulette.

We wondered over to the Catalonia side to grab a hotdog and fries for lunch. It was surprisingly good. The fries were first rate. It was nice to be able to do a quick self-service for lunch too. The Catalonia side is much more busy and loud. It's not bad, but not what we were looking for on this trip.

All in all, I think the reason this time was better was the staff was generally more attentive, and beverages flowed freely. Everything else was more or less the same. It is a very good value for the money as long as one is not a foodie. The beach is well shaded and quiet. The Catalonia side is broader and busier so one has a choice.

Room Tip: While there is wifi all around the resort the best time to use it is early AM, late PM, or in the lo...

We arrived via WestJet Vacation on Wed. May 13th for a 1 week stay.

Upon arrival, we decided to upgrade to the Exclusive Swimming Pool Suite after being offered a BOGO so basically we paid for 3 nights and received 3 nights free for a total cost of $930 USD ($155/person/night is the cost). Thank you to Edwin at Reception for his excellent customer service & helping us get an early check in to our suite. Thanks also to Ivan (General Manager) for welcoming us and making us feel at home. Finally a thank you to Angela (Front Desk Mgr.) for corresponding via email in advance of our arrival with room requests. Our maids all provided wonderful service.

We truly enjoyed the experience of the exclusive swimming pool suite for someone like us looking for total relaxation complete with your own 2 tier deck and swimming pool. We had room service breakfast every morning on our own deck and enjoyed the private pool during the day and for evening swims.

We have been to in excess of 25 AI resorts in the past 6 years including Secrets, Excellence & others. We found the food at CRB to be as good as any resort we've been too. At times, the service at the restaurants was not quite as 'polished' as we have experienced but that did not deter from our enjoyment.

We'd highly recommend anyone looking for a week of total relaxation to book the Exclusive Swimming Pool Suite.

We will return again to CRB!

Room Tip: We had suite # 3408 ( swimming pool suite). Located across from Fountains for relaxing sounds in mor...

This was a first for my wife and I, travelling to the Caribbean together after 22 years together. We had been recommended to this resort by many friends and were not disappointed. The rooms were well-appointed, modern, comfortable and relaxing when coming in from a hot day. My wife had been disappointed with the food at other resorts, but was able to eat almost everything at this resort. There were plenty of options to dine. The drinks, food and service (waiters and maids) was above average. Beach was well stocked with loungers, bean bags and wait staff. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to ask us if we needed another drink. The juice bar on the beach was great after waking up and hitting the beach without breakfast.
The ocean is amazing here with natural pools to explore almost 1km out from the beach. The beach had sun and shade.

Several of the staff stood out. Edwin at the front desk, Daario, Rueben in the restaurant and numerous others as well.

Room Tip: Try not to stay near the first pool. The other buildings are preferable.
