Stayed there for a week in December 2012. We felt like in heaven. Room was very comfortable and huge. Nice ocean view. Lovely garden with a swimming pool. Food was delicious, especially the asian restaurant and domenican food. It is one of our greatest holiday memory.

Five nights in an deluxe oceanfront junior suite, with the all-inclusive Sivory plan, gave my wife and me a pretty good sense of the quality of this remote, quiet hotel. Overall, pretty nice. Room was large, clean and comfortable, but not luxurious (linens, pillows were merely adequate; mini-bar snacks were Motel6-ish). We know others were not as lucky, getting rooms where plumbing was inadequate, but we got lucky. The weakest and most disappointing link was the food service. The "gourmet" restaurant was the worst. It took way too long for staff to seemingly even realize we were in the room; my filet was lukewarm, my friend's lamb was undistinguished, and our wives' dinners mediocre at best. (Service? Fifteen minutes in without anyone taking drink orders or providing bread, we watched incredulously as the bread-basket-bearing server walked out of the kitchen, strolled in a circle around an unoccupied dining room table, averting eye contact with all around her, and returned to the kitchen.) There was a mildewy odor, as well, inside Gourmand. The Asian restaurant Tao was much better -- both food and service. And seafood in the Mediterranean-themed Laveranda was best. Bar service was very good, especially in the late evening. But the Sivory-plan wine selection was scant (and the most desirable bottles were not in stock, we were told). Breakfast was just adequate (lox and bagels, the first item on the menu, were never available and the fruit was not of the quality or diversity one would expect on a tropical island). For golf, Iberostate was fantastic (the concierge can set up a van ride there). And if you need a dose of American excess, you can taxi to the Hard Rock (where we, incidentally, had a truly excellent gourmet dinner at Simon Mansion). So bottom line: if you seek a quiet getaway far from the bustle of Punta Cana, and you're willing to withstand less-than-luxurious food service, this place will suffice.

Although its a long flight (9 hours) it is well worth it, to visit a tropical paradise and have a totally relaxing break. We travelled with Voyage Prive and so had an excellent private transfer from the airport, and were welcomed on arrival at SivOry with a glass of fizz and shown to our fabulous villa suite. The suite was equipped with huge bath, double walk-in shower, lounge area, huge bed, terrace with loungers and chairs. The hotel staff were so friendly and you could have anything you wanted at any time from anyone.
~The setting was beautiful, and we enjoyed that we could walk for over an hour along the beach and enjoy the very warm water - even though the red flags were up as the sea was rough - it was really fun to play in the breakers.
No children at the hotel, just excellent dining, and everything included.

Room Tip: I don't think its worth paying extra for a sea view room, as they all have sea views, just some...

We spent three nights at the Sivory Punta Cana in December 2014 and had a wonderful stay. The setting is gorgeous - beautiful beach, no high-rises, very tranquil. The ocean was a bit rough and seaweedy right in front of the hotel but a little further along the beach the water was much clearer and perfect for a dip. The service was excellent - perhaps a touch slow at times but all part of kicking back and relaxing on vacation! I would say that with only three restaurants to choose from, the food might get a little monotonous if you stayed here for a full week, but for a long weekend it was great. This is also probably not the place for you if you are looking for wild nightlife as it's very quiet in the evenings, but makes it an ideal and romantic spot for a couples getaway.

So, the positives is the beach and rooms are beautiful, quiet, surrounded by nature, and breathtaking with huge coconut trees everywhere, which staff will climb to make you rum based drinks in the coconuts! However, there were many indicators on our honeymoon that beauty is only skin deep -
1. We had $ stolen from our room same day and time that a uniformed "concierge" approached us on beach with a list of actual guests and correct room numbers. When my husband and I asked later about this "employee" a flurry of spanish, interesting non verbals and contradictory explanations from staff followed including management
2. To say restaurant service is slow is an understatement, it takes a minimum of 60 to 90 minutes for kitchen to serve you - 20 minutes to get bread or wine and another 45 minutes to obtain an appetizer. This is consistent across restaurants and days and times
3. The king size bed we were promised was two separate double beds pushed next to each other in king size frame with a king size sheet pulled over them and of course management seemed "shocked," as they did regarding all of these issues yet it was clearly a pattern and well known
4. The bathtub without exaggeration took 45-50 minutes to fill and let's say tepid at most water temperature
5. The shower was gorgeous yet I was there 5 days, the water was hot for 10 minutes on one day out of 5.
6. Prior reviews mentioned issues that management indicated were fixed - being out of food, missing tiles in pool etc that were not fixed as I could clearly see when there
7. Let me end this on what hopefully will be this resorts' saving grace in the future once management is removed - promote the staff and give them authority to fix any customer service issues on the spot as good resorts do. Numerous front line staff, one staff member in particular, Javier, stands out, was competent, friendly, efficient and salvaged our trip with hospitable gestures daily. The front line staff can and do outshine management of this resort daily, let them take an active role in restoring integrity and excellence to this slice of paradise.

Dear Guest,
I recall our Sales Manager was on varios occasions in direct contact with you. Our record do not indicate anything went missing and you did write a very positive review in our guest book upon departure. The Sivory boutique delights the guest with discreet, attentive, professional staffing in a quiet, comfortable, attractive, and well-appointed facilty. Executive Chef Giovanne and staff, including Iselso, Wandy, Luz and Maria, provide all meals with a high end touch and a
friendly smile. The beach and pool are clean, towels and bottled water are readily available. We were thrilled with our Thanksgiving week vacation in Punta Cana and look forward to our next visit to Sivory boutique.

My partner and I could not agree more with the positive review of Sivory below. We wanted a relaxing, all-inclusive break in the sun to recharge our batteries whilst enjoying good food (no buffets) and good service, which is exactly what we enjoyed during our 10night stay.
Since recent reviews are fairly negative about the staff, food and accommodation, here’s my review of those…

STAFF were helpful and always wanting to please. A few stood out and made our stay even more of a pleasure. Wandy in particular – despite plying us with local alcoholic drinks! Most spoke English so we never struggled to order food and drinks.

FOOD was delicious, with a good selection in all three restaurants. Some would say that the service was slow, but when you’re at a resort like this, what’s the rush? We enjoyed the view, wine and ambiance as we dined and were never disappointed when our food arrived.
Laveranda serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu doesn't change unless there’s a special event (we had Dominican Republic night – the Flank steak was divine). But there’s a good choice and all dishes are well presented.
Gourmond offers fine dining in the evenings. Again lovely food, especially our Thanksgiving meal. Plus a huge wine cellar – some bottles were unavailable but alternatives were recommended so not a problem for us.
Tau is the Asian fusion style restaurant for evening meals. It only has 10 tables but we didn’t have any problems getting a table. And loved the food so much we ate there three times.

ROOMS. We were initially in a Deluxe Junior suite (room 62). It was spacious with good air con and seemed like it had been recently refurbished – with a great view overlooking the pool. We were upgraded (due an issue with our booking before arrival) to a Luxury Oceanfront Junior suite after two nights. This room seemed to be a little smaller and more dated – the air con was not as good and the shower was very slow to drain. We didn’t use the private plunge pool much as it didn’t really get the sun. But it was worth moving to wake up to a view of the waves crashing on the beach. And the free insect repellent was a welcome touch, although the resort is also sprayed daily.

OTHER THOUGHTS. I’d recommend going for the all-inclusive option – we only spent a small amount extra on tips. We also booked through a discounted travel agent (Voyage Prive) so believe we received excellent value for money. The pool isn’t huge (and not really an infinity pool) but ideal for cooling down and enjoying a drink from the nearby bar. The beach is nice with sun loungers provided, but a few storms had washed up a lot of seaweed that the hotel struggled to clear – although they did apologise for this.

I would love to say there were no negatives at all, but sadly three days before we were due to fly, our agent contacted us saying that Sivory were unable to accommodate our booking because of a large event. Between our agent (we’ll be writing a scathing review elsewhere about them) and the hotel, there was a huge communication failure causing a lot of stress for us – we were even taken to the wrong hotel upon arriving in Punta Cana! The big event turned out to be a wedding, which did look lovely. But I’m sure the hotel would have had a lot more notice than three days for a wedding, so am not quite sure what caused the last-minute confusion with our booking.

Room Tip: Room 62 was great for air con, view and size
