Having a group of 15 people, we stayed at the Ocean Blue from July 4-11, 2009. The resort was nice but did not compare to the Iberostar in Riviera Maya Mexico. The resort is definitely not a 4 star and would rate it a high 2 low 3. None of the a la carte restaurants are worth going to, especially the Route 66 (American). The food and service was HORRIBLE. The best food can be found at the Buffet. The resort definitely caters to Spanish Speaking guests. About half our group was sick for 3-4 days from either the food or water. Rooms were not very good as they were average at best for cleanliness. One room, the phone didnt not work and we called it in and no one showed to fix the phone for the entire week. Towels in each room were lacking and was difficult to obtain from the staff. The on-site disco played 95% latin music. On-site casino had about 4 table games, 2 roulette tables and about 20 slot machines. If you were to book off-site excursions, book with the booth on the beach and haggle your price. Do not book at the resort or at the hut where you get your beach towels as they were very high in price. The beach was very nice and clean with ample chairs. Punta Cana was nice but would not go back to this resort. We met a few people staying at the Iberostar and they said they loved it and the food was great. Now I regret not booking at the Iberostar.
The Coffee Shop "Mikes" was VERY GOOD with a nice selection.

Shopping: Walking distance on the beach, On-site Cigar Shop, Gift Shop, Photo Shop, Jewelry Shop

Activities: Teen Disco, Adult Disco, Bowling, Billiards, Casino

Beach/Pool: 3-4 Stars - Clean

We Stayed here for 2 weeks, just got back on Thursday 8th of July. When we arrived my first impression was good, staff at reception were very good, check in was as smooth as I have experienced anywhere else.
Got to the room and would say that it was just ok, it certainly is not a 5 star hotel room as advertised. The buffet was great, and all other resturants were good. We paid to have our dinner on the beach and at $40 each we would have expected more, the service was poor and the food just average, not worth the extra money and there was nothing romantic about it. The Italian was far better value for Lobster, we ate there 3 times during our stay and would recomend this.
The Entertainment at night time was very poor, I must say the there was not much to satisfy English speaking people as they really aimed at Puerto Ricians, not fair considering that everyone has paid to be entertained.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday, as I already said if there was entertainment we would have enjoyed it more I think.

the hotel is lovely, and the variety of food is great. How ever the service is lacking in some what many ways. The bar staff and waiters favour spanish speaking parties and as an englishman its a struggle. often asking for drinks 3 / 4 times before one turns up. drinks not turning up. standing at bars that are half empty for 10 mins.
The complex looks like the place to be if you are a travelling loud, rude, selfish porta ricon that makes as much noise as possible when everyone is sleeping.
the entertainment was average but the night time shows were very well done.
the destination is ideal and there is not one complaint about the beach front or sea.
The hotel lets sellers into the complex certain nights and they really are pushy and annoying, you should be able to walk from theatre to bar without being hounded by these people.
The best bar on the complex, is the beach bar because of one man DAVID, I just wish all the bar staff would take a leaf out of his book.

Did not start with a good first impression, The front desk clerk checking us in had a terrible cold and kept on sneezing,,she was obviously sick and should not be working on the reception desk !
Terrible room service, absolutely unfriendly staff,
The resort offers "All inclusive" as a SCAM ! Two days out of four, the resort would not book us for their exclusive Seafood and Steak restaurants claiming that there was a private function. After we insisted, they claimed they did not the space for our whole group,,, basically thier trick is to get most of the people to use the generic "Mexican" and Italian buffet restaurant whre food was horrible and most of the stuff on the menu ,we had to pay extra !!!!

The bar at the beach is way at the back and no service at the beach, We hardly saw pepole walking all the way back for a glass of beer...

Food is not available at the beach itself but in a restaurant facing the beach ( starting 12.00 noon !) and is double the walk as the bar !

I walked up the bar exactly at 10.00 and the bartender was rude and turned me down because according to him it was too early !

My advise ( and so is the rest of my group of 28 !) is FIND ANOTHER RESORT ! Please dont waste your vacation and time on this resort.

This resort allows locals ( they wear a different color wrist band) and so it is crowded with locals at the restaurant as well as the beach,,,,

I will never go there again,that;s for sure !
