“Very Good Resort!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We stayed at the IPC from Feb 21 - 28th. This resort was perfect for us as we found lots to eat and the food was good although one day a hamburger was a little undercooked but other than that all food was good. The room was clean and always well stocked. I would like them to change up ther beer brand every other day. that would be nice but the Brahma beer wasnt bad! The pools were sooooooo warm and plenty of chairs and palapas avaiable. We did have to play the towel game by getting up early to get a good spot. The sister hotel is the Dominicana and we could use all their amenities. The Punta Cana pool is more laid back and quieter and the Dominicana pool is where the fun and activities were held if you wanted to do the dancing and events. Shopping was not toobad on the resort with a handfull of stores. A casino was popular and always busy. The shows were a bit cheesy but what the heck better than none at all! Fransico the bartender made awesome Zombies and other drinks and he was the best!
The beach is pure powder sand and beautiful blue water. Ocean was always warm and swimming was easy. There is however no coral and thus no fish so snorkelling is not really done at our resort. All in all it was a great week, great weather and great peole. Would absolutlely recommend this resort and yes we will return to the Iberostar Punta Cana.
Cheers!

Room Tip: We stayed in a very quiet room 5139 overlooking the steak house but with a view of the ocean

We stayed at this hotel 12 Feb to 26 Feb and enjoyed every minute. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The food was great, we usually get bored of the buffets in hotels but not this time, there was always so much to choose from and the food was of a high standard. The gardens were beautiful and immaculate - the gardeners must work so hard to maintain such beauty. The entertainment day/night was fab, the staff work so hard to entertain the guests and there is always something going on. Look out for lovely Joel, a genuinely nice guy ! The rooms were cleaned daily and our fridge was never empty. With regard to sunbeds, if you require an umbrella then you will need to get up at 6am but if you are happy to have a sunbed (beach or pool) without one then there were always some around up until late morning. The beach is stunning with a lovely breeze which you dont get around the pool. The staff in the lobby are quick to come to you to take your drinks order which is great and there is a great range of cocktails to choose from. You can even have international labels for your spirits, we have previously had to pay for this in other hotels. On Valentines, the hotel went all out and made it a lovely night for everyone - giving out gifts, red candles lighting the paths, the food was decorated and shaped into hearts - a really nice touch. My only negatives would be the high charges for the safe ($28 for 2 weeks) and the WIFI was incredibly high (cant remember cost). Apart from these 2 moans, I honestly cant fault this hotel - my mum cried on our last day as she didnt want to leave. Thanks Iberostar Punta Cana for a wonderful holiday, you have a fabulous hotel and excellent staff - we will be seeing you again.

This resort is highly overrated by other trip advisor reviews. The food is horrible! It is the same flavorless food every day and it is not even hot. The reservations are a joke as they are hard to come by yet the restaurants are empty. A lot of the meats we saw were not cooked enough. Also you have to run on a late schedule if you want to eat - lunch is at 12:30 and dinner is at 6:30 - if you are hungry in the afternoon you can have popcorn or food that has been sitting in the buffet since 12:30. They have ice cream machines at two of the buffets but would only run one.

The drinks are also horrendous - not slushy at all and gross. So disappointing.

There is no swim up bar or waiter/waitress service by the pool/beach.

Also if you would like an umbrella you will have to be down to reserve EARLY.

The only nice thing I have to say is there are a handful of very friendly and hard working staff members who made the experience a little better.

Worst place I have stayed in the Carribean and would not go back even if it was free.

My first impression of this hotel was not good, unfortunately after two weeks it did not change. The Beach is beautiful, gardens very nice and thats it.
Rooms are very basic on the eye but they do have everything in it that you would need.
Food is OK, I am not a picky eater but I did not enjoy the evening meals at all. The service in the buffet is good sometimes but most of the time the drinks did not arrive until we were almost finished. One time I had to ask for my drink again and finished up with a drink from the next table which had already been drunk out of. I was lucky that the man came back to his table before I had drunk any.
My main complaint of the hotel is the evening entertainment. Very very Boring. Only two bars open before eleven and then the disco opens. The bar at the Dominicana was for the shows which unless you get there early you have no chance to see it. The bar at the Punta Cana side was much better, infact it looked very nice but the entertainment team spolit it for me. They seem to insist that you dance with them, a polite no thank you was not enough. One person actually got aggressive and replied "Why". I do not go on holiday to be harrassed. I want to be entertained not be part of the entertainment. Every night was the same thing, absolutely fed up after two nights.
The disco was very good but the horrible smoke that they use made me cough so that was that.
I have been to the Dom Rep 15 times and I can honestly say this was the worst time, so much so that it has put me off ever going again.

Room Tip: High floor overlooking pool/Ocean

We stayed at Iberostar Punta Cana Feb. 18 - 25 with our two adult daughters. We stayed in the Junior Suites and were very well accomodated to be close together with the rooms. These suites are close to the main buffet but within easy walking distance to the pool and the beach. We loved our time at the resort. The food was incredible with an amazing variety served daily. The staff are so accomodating and always ready with a smile and ola!! The rooms, beach and grounds were beautiful and well kept by the staff. If you needed something, all you had to do was ask. We walked down the beach both ways and found that our resort had the most palapas on the beach so there was always shade from the sun. You had to go out early to get a palapa, even though they aren't supposed to be reserved with beach towels.

I would easily go to this resort in a heart beat. I would probably only go to this resort as I am one of those people who like to know what I am going to and now that I know, it would be heaven again.

Thanks so much. We had alot of fun.

We also went and swam with the dolphins and did the excellence package which was so well worth it. The bird show was good also and I guess I liked getting kissed by the sea lion.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 6316 with adjoining 6317 and it was quiet after midnight and had west sun on the b...

We have returned from the Iberostar Punta Cana and can honestly say "Best food ever" Where do you get lobster tails? Not many resorts. Turkey, crab claws, bbq ribs, pizza, specialty cheeses, fresh fruit bar, fresh breads and pastries every day and real butter and too much more to mention. If you love food this is the place for you.
Don't waist your money on the ocean front junior suites .....No ocean view what so ever and they junior suites are back in the bush at the front of the hotel. Furthest back from the beach and one side faces the Rui Hotels parking lot and the other side faces the lobby and from the top floor all you can see it the roofs of the buffets and lobby and trees. Ask for a room facing the pools cause there are no ocean view rooms. If you are unlucky enough to get the other side not facing the pools you will be looking at the Rui Hotel.
Grounds are spectacular and the gardeners appreciate a bottle of water or a bottle of cold pop and a dollar bill. They never forget you and will cut you a coconut to drink and a huge smile every time they see you. I thought one guy was going to start crying when i gave him a 5 dollar bill and a coke on our last day. He actually got on his knees and said God Bless you. I made sure he seen my Canadian Flag and said i was from Canada.
DON'T go to the spa! Its not clean and they give you a little towel to cover up with cause they dont let you use their robes. Nothing to drink before or after and the bathroom is next door in this dirty sauna room. It is privately run and i personally have never had a facial with cream rubbed on my face with an open hand. My friend was burnt with hot steam and one side of her face was bruised. Paid for an hour facial "the best" and got 15 minutes service and a mask applied and she was gone. 45 minutes later she returned took the mask off and said she was finished! The mask because it was left on so long made my face swell. Had to go to the Hotel staff manager to complain because it was charged to our room. Long story short we didn't pay for that terrible service. That was the second day there out of two weeks so we found a spa excursion threw OLA (westjet) that picked us up and took us to a spa called POSH and it was out of this world. We went 3 more times it was so good. Clean and professional in a beautiful brand new building. Only opened in July. The best!
The casino is a blast! Play Cleopatra she pays! One of the bars is right out side of the casino and entertainment beside it. We took Canadian money and they traded it strait across for American in the casino. Lots of fun.
Rock cafe you dont need reservations and the food is good. It is across from the casino in a separate building in a small mall. That's where the bank machine is if you need it
There are about 15 on beach stores about a 10 minute walk to the right of the hotel on the beach. Little pushy there but its fun to go especially if you stop in the beach bar for a super sized Presidente beer when you get there. Nice and cold and view is fantastic..
Fridge in the room stocked and a coffee maker. Room was always clean and fresh flowers in the bathroom each day.
I wasn't with my husband and two friends one morning and the staff asked where i was and they said i wasn't feeling well before long a beautiful fruit platter showed up at the door. How nice!
Cappuccino at the lobby bar and ice cold champagne was relaxing every morning on their soft couches watching people come and go on excursions.
We stayed at this hotel but the Dominica is the same and the buffets are side by side with a small poor between them. We ate mostly at the Dominica buffet because it was busier and the food was moving better.
Went on the Outback Safari and it was alot of fun and a very tasty lunch included with drinks the whole time on the truck. Beautiful beach stop. They take you to a farm so dont forget to get your fresh coconut oil it makes you skin like silk. Hubby went on a 20 minute helicopter ride which he really enjoyed. Larimar bracelets are only 5 bucks at the ranch compared to anywhere else they are 15.00.
Hope this helps you out, cause all in all the hotel is really good and the staff are all very nice. Would recommend it to others but we never go to the same hotel twice we like to explore.

Room Tip: ask for pool view room

It was pretty nice. Rooms were good, not great. They were quiet and clean, but quite spartan. Really missed the liquor bottles hanging in rooms. Mini fridge only restockes every OTHER day. Beds were comfortable, but spreads needed to be replaced. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was Ok, but not as good as two Riu hotels we stayed in previously. Beach and sand was amazing. Pools were also very nice. Good hotel for medium budget, but next trip wife and I will look for either 4 or 5 star hotels. Dont believe the literature, this place was a 3 maybe 3and half star .

Room Tip: try to get "facing pool". Garden views leave alot to be desired.
