“Still worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2011

Just returned from Iberostar P.C.,was there from 6-6 thur 6-13th.This is our 5th time since 2000.We always have had a good time here so we decided to bring our friends knowing we would have fun.Our room was a new remoldled one,no smell and garden view(no noise from construction next door at the Riu).Ate at 3 ala-carte,steak,seafood and lobster..Al were good, also ate at the Rock Cafe the last night(no resv. required)for a change from the buffets. All the staff works very hard and are pleasant. We tipped well but i think service would have been good anyway.I think the rating this hotel has is fair.
Weather was great which helps make your week enjoyable.Give it a try, you'll have fun.

When we first arrived at the airport we were quickly greeted to be taken to the resort. The drive to the resort was like the Indy 500--a bit scary. I don't think they have a speed limit!! After we checked in and were taken to our room we discovered our a/c didn't work and the room smelled musty. They quickly switched us to another room since the a/c would be a while to fix. We discovered that all the rooms smelled very musty or like mildew. Yuck! Thank goodness we hardly spent any time in it. The buffet food wasn't very good. We traveled with a group of 10 women and none of us liked it. The special restaurants, on the other hand, were fantastic. Just make all your reservations for the restaurants as soon as you get there. They fill up quickly and we had to eat pretty late sometimes. DO NOT TIP!!!!! We started out tipping and ended up being almost harassed by the help. They were EXTREMELY PUSHY once they knew we were tippers. We actually had to complain to the resort to get them to leave us alone. Once we quit tipping--the service stopped too.
The beach was amazing and the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. If you're going on vacation for the beach, this is the place to go. There is a flea market on the beach with in walking distance and they, obviously, are pushy but not too bad. We actually enjoyed talking with all the workers. We scheduled a trip to go and swim with the dolphins. The pool they were swimming is was so disgusting we almost didn't want to get in! We got in and had a great time swimming with them. After we returned back to the U.S., EVERYTHING that we all took smelled like the room. Months later and after trying to get the musty/ moldy smell out of every thing, several of us threw our luggage, make-up bags, and some clothes away since the strong smell would not go away. If there wasn't another resort in Punta Cana, I might go back there but since there's more than one resort, I'd try a different one.

We stayed at Iberostar PC for 2 weeks in May . The room was nice , nice size , very clean with mini bar refreshed every day for free in the AI package . The hotel has 3 buffets which mainly serve the same food every day , not extraordinary but it's diverse and you can find something to your liking for sure . The beach was great but a little crowded , we had to get up at 7 to grab a seat . Could only make 5 reservations at the a la carte restaurants , more would be nice .

Iberostar Punta Cana - sister to the Domincana which is next door, rooms are tired looking at the Punta Cana, not so at the Dominicana. The hotels are next door to each other in two rectangular blocks. To the left of the Punta Cana there is currently a new hotel under construction and work begins at 7.30am every day and goes on till after 6.30pm, meaning no sitting on the balcony either in the morning or evening, and without the double glazing the noise level would be intolerable. We travelled with First Choice and were told that they had instructed the management NOT to put English visitors on this side of the hotel, but be assured every Englich couple we spoke to had been put into that side and some, after complaining, had been moved to the side overlooking the pool. There is a wide range of restaurants, and all are very good.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room on the pool side

The beach and resort are clean and beautifully maintained. Most people are happy to help and are very friendly, you do get a couple of people who are miserable though. The food was average and it sucks that you can only eat the sit down restaurants 3 times during a 7 day stay and even though you have 3 reservations it is a big process to get those reservations, also there is no room service and the late night snacks are awful. The booze was also very average and low quality, we tipped well so received stiff drinks, but halfway through the trip paid someone to get us american beer and we also bought absolut at the duty free shop to drink. I think the issue is the beer is not very cold and gets warm very fast.

Room Tip: Tip at the front desk

I have traveled with Iberostar for years and their Staff have always been fantastic, and there was no suprises on this trip either. The IBerostar Punta Cana has beautiful beaches, great staff and although corny, the entertainment was basically just that, "Entertaining" and fun but far from professional.

The disappointment came with the exclusive restaurants. Although you expect the basics from the buffets, most of the a-la-carte restaurants are better quality, NOT at the Iberostar Punta Cana (or the Dominacana because they share the same facilities). And the drinks (alcoholic), well there weren't any. Yes they called them alcoholic drinks but everything from the mixes, to the beer and even the wine(?) tasted watered down. We're drinking light weights, but for my Fiftieth Birthday we figured we'd drink and wake up on the beach every day...I could have driven the entire Island SOBER after an all-day drinking bash the way they served it.

Anyway, my advice to the Iberostar gang, if you want this customer to come back instead of trying the Grand Palladium or the Hard Rocks of the World, juice it up a little and give them what they pay for when they select the all-inclusive. ENJOYED THE BEACH...SOBER :)

Room Tip: Slip them $5 for a room with a better view!

My fiancee and I stayed at the Iberostar Punta Cana from May 21st, 2011 to May 28th, 2011. I can say that I have travelled to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama And Las Vegas 12 times over the course of the last ten years. I rely on Trip Advisor to book my holidays and although I have had many great holidays I have never posted a review. Last year I travelled to Panama, Vegas, and Cuba and enjoyed all of the destinations.
This trip was absolutely amazing and the hotel, the staff, the food and the entertainment all played a huge part in how much we enjoyed our holiday.
From the moment we arrived we were treated very very well. We landed early and arrived at the hotel early and yet our Junior Suite was ready for us. After registering in the hotel with drinks in hand we were quickly escorted to our suite. The junior suites are large and well appointed and kept very clean. I have read about problems with air conditioning in some hotels but this was NOT the case here. Our room could have been a meat locker if we wanted. The air conditioning worked flawlessly over the course of a hot humid week.
Our beer fridge was filled daily with 4 beers, assorted pop and carbonated water and Dasani water. Always lots of that on hand in the room. The maid service was excellent and the room spotless.
The food was amazing and the staff were helpful and eager to please. I encourage people to tip the staff. Reward them for their hard work, believe me a few bucks goes a long way. There are several amazing a la carte restaurants, including the Oriental Restaurant, the Pagoda, the Steak House Restaurant, La Cana, the International Restaurant, La Marimba, the Gourmet Restaurant, La Sibila, and the American Restaurant, the Star Rock Cafe. We enjoyed dinner at least once at everyone of the a la carte restaurants. The food was great and so was the service.
The buffets were also great with good selection and the service was just as good. The beach buffets were great with lots of fresh grilled food prepared daily
The gym in this hotel is amazing, well equipped and close to the beach. It is attached to the spa and offers showers, sauna and 4 small jacuzzi tubs for those using the gym. This was my third trip to the Dominican Republic and the BEST gym I have ever seen there.
The beach is amazing and there are lots of chairs although it can be difficult to get a umbrellas if you don't get one early. People throw towels on chairs early and then never show up the whole day. Thats frustrating if you like to like to stay at the beach. The beach is kept clean by an army of staff picking up cups etc, and there are bar staff patrolling the beach to help the thirsty customers. I can't really comment on the pools. They looked clean and not too crowded but we are beach dwellers so we couldn't comment on the pools.
The entertainment staff keep things busy at the beach and poolside during the day, and the shows, especially the Michael Jackson show were very entertaining. The bar staff are busy but also always smiling and work hard to please.
The hotel grounds are maintained by another army of gardeners who do an a amazing job.
I must thank Hector the reservations manager, Arius, the manager at the Pagoda, Reuben the manager of La Cana, Domingo, Pierone, Ricki, Carlos, Austacio and Maria for the great service. They all helped make our one week visit seem way to short.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
