When we first arrived at the airport we were quickly greeted to be taken to the resort. The drive to the resort was like the Indy 500--a bit scary. I don't think they have a speed limit!! After we checked in and were taken to our room we discovered our a/c didn't work and the room smelled musty. They quickly switched us to another room since the a/c would be a while to fix. We discovered that all the rooms smelled very musty or like mildew. Yuck! Thank goodness we hardly spent any time in it. The buffet food wasn't very good. We traveled with a group of 10 women and none of us liked it. The special restaurants, on the other hand, were fantastic. Just make all your reservations for the restaurants as soon as you get there. They fill up quickly and we had to eat pretty late sometimes. DO NOT TIP!!!!! We started out tipping and ended up being almost harassed by the help. They were EXTREMELY PUSHY once they knew we were tippers. We actually had to complain to the resort to get them to leave us alone. Once we quit tipping--the service stopped too.
The beach was amazing and the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. If you're going on vacation for the beach, this is the place to go. There is a flea market on the beach with in walking distance and they, obviously, are pushy but not too bad. We actually enjoyed talking with all the workers. We scheduled a trip to go and swim with the dolphins. The pool they were swimming is was so disgusting we almost didn't want to get in! We got in and had a great time swimming with them. After we returned back to the U.S., EVERYTHING that we all took smelled like the room. Months later and after trying to get the musty/ moldy smell out of every thing, several of us threw our luggage, make-up bags, and some clothes away since the strong smell would not go away. If there wasn't another resort in Punta Cana, I might go back there but since there's more than one resort, I'd try a different one.

We stayed at Iberostar PC for 2 weeks in May . The room was nice , nice size , very clean with mini bar refreshed every day for free in the AI package . The hotel has 3 buffets which mainly serve the same food every day , not extraordinary but it's diverse and you can find something to your liking for sure . The beach was great but a little crowded , we had to get up at 7 to grab a seat . Could only make 5 reservations at the a la carte restaurants , more would be nice .

Iberostar Punta Cana - sister to the Domincana which is next door, rooms are tired looking at the Punta Cana, not so at the Dominicana. The hotels are next door to each other in two rectangular blocks. To the left of the Punta Cana there is currently a new hotel under construction and work begins at 7.30am every day and goes on till after 6.30pm, meaning no sitting on the balcony either in the morning or evening, and without the double glazing the noise level would be intolerable. We travelled with First Choice and were told that they had instructed the management NOT to put English visitors on this side of the hotel, but be assured every Englich couple we spoke to had been put into that side and some, after complaining, had been moved to the side overlooking the pool. There is a wide range of restaurants, and all are very good.

The beach and resort are clean and beautifully maintained. Most people are happy to help and are very friendly, you do get a couple of people who are miserable though. The food was average and it sucks that you can only eat the sit down restaurants 3 times during a 7 day stay and even though you have 3 reservations it is a big process to get those reservations, also there is no room service and the late night snacks are awful. The booze was also very average and low quality, we tipped well so received stiff drinks, but halfway through the trip paid someone to get us american beer and we also bought absolut at the duty free shop to drink. I think the issue is the beer is not very cold and gets warm very fast.
