“"Best vacation week ever"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

WHOOPA!!! OMG!!!! We've always heard of Punta Cana and wanted to visit. We finally got a chance to visit a total of 7 girls. I did my research and found this hotel. Let me tell you what a perfect choice we made. The grounds are beyond stunning and immaculately well kept. The rooms are very spacious and the shower was huge and the refrigerator is stocked at all times with sodas & water.

Their are a few restaurants in which to eat from. The Japanese & French restaurant ones you have to make reservations for. Our chef Raul from the Japanese restaurant is the absolute best. The Mexican & Dominican restaurant was great also. Our waiter (Bum Bum) is also great. We've learned a couple of new drinks from him. Our other waiters Luis Alberto (I want to love you) and Sanchez and Jose. These guys knew who we were and had everything ready for us and knew our names.

Everyday there was something exciting for us to do. The Funjestic crews Luciano, Cathy, Lookey Lookey, Tuty Fruty and Speedy. Talking about a fantastic group. These guys are magnificent. They have so much energy and enthusiasm. They keep you going non stop. I sure don't know how they do it but I raise my hat off to them.

A special thanks goes out to Joll for always checking to see if we are doing okay. Also thanks to Marshall for the exciting tour of the hotel. Last but not least our favorite Mr. Juan Carlos Vargas (General Manager) whom we have had the pleasure of meeting. Such an amiable person he is.

To the Entire Staff at Majestic Colonial Punta Cana. We would like to say thank you for a magnificent week. Everyone that passes by you would greet you with a smile and hola.

To the management staff. You should be so proud of your employees for the fantastic jobs they are doing and continue to do. Give yourself a pat on the back. It goes to reflects what great leaders you are.

A special thanks to all my girls for the best vacation ever and to my cousin for winning the dance contest on the beach. Way to go girl!!! This was a grown up trip.

We are planning on going back next year and bringing more people to celebrate my 50th birthday. Can't wait to see everyone again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Majestic Colonial. We stayed there for a wedding and we're very much impressed with the quality of the employees and the general atmosphere of the site! The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. We would definitely go back another time.

We just returned from a week down at the Majestic Colonial and could not be happier with our choice to stay here. The grounds are stunning and immaculately kept. We opted for the upgrade to the colonial club and it was well worth the money! The colonial club itself had a constant spread of food available along with drinks and free wifi, we found ourselves stopping through here a lot in the middle of the day or at the end of the night for some chocolates or a glass of wine. The hotel also ensured that the fridge was always well stocked with bottles of water, pepsi, diet pepsi, and 7 up. The private section of the beach was beautiful and the pools with the bali beds were incredible.

The food overall was good. There were so many options that it would be impossible to not find something to eat. Le Gourmet was the colonial club only restaurant and it was ok. The Matsuri habachi grill was a lot of fun and very entertaining. Usually at breakfast we ate in the main buffet area and our favorite dinner restaurant was the Tres Carabelas Seafood/Rodeo Grill Steakhouse open air restaurant on the beach. We were a group split between seafood and steaks and they happily served us food from both of the restaurants even though we always ate on the seafood side.

There were constant activities and entertainment available on the beach/poolside/stage area. There are a great variety of excursion type activities that are included on-site such as snorkeling, kayaking, and windsurfing. There are also excursions like parasailing and banana boat rides that you are able to purchase from the same on-site kiosk (it's nice to not have to leave the resort to do some of these shorter excursions and gives you more time to enjoy the hotel). Overall, you were able to be as active or as lazy as you'd like, all day long.

The real thing that made the Majestic Colonial such a wonderful experience was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure that we got anything and everything we wanted. Ezequier Torres at the Rodeo Grill became our go-to waiter every night (and we'd see him for a lot of lunches too)! Ezequier was a blast and an exceptional server; he definitely went the extra mile to make sure that we enjoyed everything at all of our meals (and somehow managed to provide that same level of service to all of the other tables around us as well). Miguel "Kelly" worked with Ezequier bringing our drinks and kept them coming the whole night. Kelly also worked at the main buffet for breakfast and took good care of our entire group. Our last morning he went above and beyond and set us up a beautiful table with flowers for our last breakfast, a true five star service. Pablo at the Rodeo Grill also stood out as a superior member of the restaurant staff and always made sure our glasses were full. These three truly made our trip an absolute blast and made sure that we were well taken care of during our stay at the Majestic Colonial. After the first night we met them, any time we saw these three again at a restaurant or on the hotel grounds they called us by name and even remembered our drink orders!

The only real complaint we had was the nonstop peddling of goods while on excursions. The four hour dune buggy excursion was more of a 15 minute drive on go-carts through five different strategically placed markets. It's understandable that people want to sell their goods, but it was much more pushy and perpetual than any other destination we have visited. This really has nothing to do with the hotel, but is more of a "heads up" if you plan on doing excursions off the hotel grounds.

Room Tip: We definitely recommend the upgrade to the Colonial Club if you are traveling without children.

We had been to the Paradisus Palma Real 2 years ago and enjoyed it immensely, but on the recommendation of a friend we tried the Majestic this time. We found the service and the setting equal to the Palma Real.

The adults only Colonial Club experience was great in that check-in and check-out is much faster and less stressful. Getting a warm wet facecloth to wipe your face with, while sipping on champagne during the check-in process can take one's mind off one's cares quite nicely. Richard, our butler for the week took excellent care of us starting then and for the rest of the week.

Food was generally quite good and flavourful. The ribs at La Hispaniola at lunch were somewhat tough, but the Chateaubriand at night was very tender. All the other meals at all the restaurants were delicious and safe to eat as well. Staff at all the restaurants with the exception of the Mexican-Dominican one (staff members there were strangely less enthusiastic) bent over backwards to make our meals memorable. Martina at the restaurant closest to the lobby took special pleasure in decorating our table at breakfast with flower petals and Elvin was the most enthusiastic coffee server we've ever seen! Oney and Ezekiar along with Erika, Urkia and Ysauro at the Palapa Playa Restaurante at the beach provided animated and conscientious service at all times. Staff at Le Gourmet worked hard to make the meal and the atmosphere elegant, and they succeeded!

My wife and I enjoy wines and the two wines (red and white) chosen by the Hotel to provide to the all-inclusive clients were adequate. It would have been nice to have one or two other choices though as drinking the same wines all week can become a bit boring. There was a wine list at Le Gourmet but of course the prices charged were quite inflated. Even more than at most Canadian restaurants.

Our maid Alicia became a special friend through the week as she was willing to converse with us about a number of interests that we had in common.

Overall, we will definitely consider coming back to this resort as there was essentially nothing negative we could say about it. Our only negative experience during the week had really nothing to do with the Majestic but with an excursion tour operator. We were promised a good snorkeling outing for a half-day on a catamaran which instead turned out to be a party boat with about 20 minutes of snorkeling thrown in. Again, not the Hotel's fault.

Room Tip: If you have no children coming with you, choose the adults only Colonial Club as it will be quieter...

I'm going to keep this short but my husband and I wanted a beautiful, affordable place to get married. We were not disappointed. Our wedding coordinator, Yanette Fung was amazing. She made me relax and just enjoy the experience. The wedding was a great experience for our guests as well. The Cigar Rollers were a hit! The resort DJ kept the party going and the food was delicious. The rest of the trip was awesome. The most friendly and accommodating staff work at the resort. We became buddies with the bartenders at the beach bar...as for Joaquin Pena and Toiron Rodriguez. They made our group have a blast. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic dinner on the beach on Thanksgiving night and we're served by Jorge Nuñez and Jose Atacio. They never left our glasses empty or our plates. It was more than we could have asked for. We'll be coming back for Anniversaries for sure. :)

After seeing all the bad reviews I wanted to write to let you know our view! We LOVED THIS PLACE! Honestly... We have travelled around the states a lot and have only been to Jamaica! I read all the reviews on here prior to going and felt so worried that we made a bad choice. WE DID NOT! The place is gorgeous I mean it is so unreal words can't describe it's beauty from the beach to the set up just great! We stay one week in the colonial club and were for free up graded to something called my time! We had perfect swim up room pool bar and yes like others said were one of the few to have wi-fi in our room( which was a huge deal cause we had kids at home) stock fridge everyday water, soda, liquor, candy. We had butler Richard who was so wonderful. The funny thing was we didn't see him for the first couple days after he took us on a tour and showed us the in ands outs, but we then caught up with us to say we always had DO NOT DISTURB ON THE DOOR! Lol he then made sure to stop by to say hi by the pool. When we first got there we got our own private check in had someone pouring champaign and giving us snacks. As far as food you can't get enough! Buffets were great but just like here if u wait til they close of course the food is blah! We always ate there for breakfast lunch we had free room service which was nice cause from pool and beach life we just wanted to relax. The thing I will say is salads from there were not good cause they did not have dressing any kind that I was use to! Loved the japenese restaurant, the steak house, the French was ok my husband loved the steak but my fish was not impressing. Which made us stay away from the seafood restaurant cause others said the same not bad but just blah. Must try the majestic with rum perfect when you are relaxing during the day! The spa was very nice got a massage by Maria so relaxing very oily but nice! Pedicure was great to. We enjoyed the fun day activities the staff go out of the way to get you to try new things and just have good old fashion fun! Went to foam party something to do but not for kids just so you know! They do booty shaking contest. At night there are some shows they usually start at 10 with the occasional live band at 8 in main bar. We caught the Dominican show interested but honestly could of been better! We avoided karaoke night and missed Michael Jackson tribute! The night club doesn't get anyone in it til about 12-1 am! If we had a group that might of appealed to us. All in all it is a wonderful place! Obliviously when you are there do not drink the water at all! Stay with any of the approved tour guides. And just try to have fun the reason you went in the first place! We would recommend this place to anyone and we do plan to go back!

This was our first time at Majestic colonial, we went here for my 20th birthday. I must say the service was incredible and the employees very motivated and enthusiastic to work! Partied every night at Coco's club and joined in their own dance moves. I spent my birthday in heaven with my other half.! Food was great, excellent service, a lot of walking, very large large pool, they provided food buffet everywhere around the hotel, by the entrance and the beach. Everyone was friendly and glad to help! I can't wait to go for a second time. Maybe this time for my wedding! :) I'd like to thank Gina, Lina, Tuty Fruty, Canelo, Kathy, Speedy, Luciano for being wonderful employees and motivating us to get up and DANCE!!! Highly recommended!
