“nice family trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Our family step a week's holiday at the Colonial Majestic after a search by an excellent place for vacation. Our experience was more than gratifying for the excellent service and quality of the hotel. Rooms are nice and very clean.Hotel and staff was wonderful is what keeps me coming back because they always make me feel at home and they are so much fun. I took my daughter and my friend this year and they loved it as well. Can't wait to come back.

The Majestic Colonial was the resort selected by a relative for his destination wedding in November. Our group of 36 were assigned rooms in the Colonial Club section. (This area gives you higher-end amenities, a butler, use of separate pools and bars, etc.) The couples that had requested pool-side rooms were placed on the Majestic side of the lagoon but were within easy access. The grounds and pool areas are gorgeous...the lagoon pool is enormous and sparkling clean, walkways and landscaping very well maintained. One recommendation if you are traveling with more people...bring walkie-talkies! We found them very useful to locate other members of our party, whether at beach, pool, or restaurants. It is a hike from one end of the resort to the other, and it saved us a lot of time looking for people!
I feel the personalities of the staff and the service they provide are the most important aspects of any business. The staff here was amazingly friendly and always smiling! Even with some language barriers, they always tried their best to accomodate, so language became NO issue! Special kudos to Paula (at the buffet entrance), Oney (at the Rodeo Grill), and the Funjestic Animation Team - Luciano (aka Chicken Legs!), Tutti-Fruiti, Lookey, Linc, Katy, Adrian, & Speedy. Not sure when that team slept...they were everywhere!...and can they dance!! They got everyone involved (without pressuring) and we spent many hours with them, laughing, dancing, and performing olympic feats!! The foam pool party was a riot, and the eveing beach parties are very well run and festive.
Beach activities are included, but utilize them quickly when conditions are favorable. Early in the week we took out a kayak but the last several days were windy with some surf...water activities will be postponed until calmer conditions, so take advantage while you can. The ocean has rocks/coral right off shore, so water shoes would help if you don't like to tread water!
The very minimal shortcomings involved the rooms. A few maintenace issues but not enough to prevent a return trip (double sink in room but only one faucet worked, TV remote non-functional, room phone out of order, power outages periodically, noisy corridors/thin doors so sound echos on the marble floors, etc.)
I found the food choices to be good. Only Presidente Beer at the bars (but multiple choices of mixed tropical drinks). Same day reservations needed for Le Gourmet and Matsuri Restaurants but easily obtained this time of year.
Overall, a great time at a beautiful resort.

My husband and I just returned from a perfect vacation at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana. The resort is about a 30 minute shuttle ride from the airport. We stayed in the Club, adults only, section and would highly recommend if you are traveling without children. Upon arrival, we had a speedy private check in, were given food and drinks, and were given a tour and taken to our room by our butler. We had requested a garden view, and we were surprised it actually had a great view of the ocean as well. The room was spotless, beautiful and serviced every morning. The beach was the highlight of the trip for us, it is the most beautiful and clean that we have been to. There is a private section of the beach for the adults only with bali beds and tons of lounge chairs with grass huts. There is also a private bar with a server constantly serving you drinks on the beach. The drinks were great, and definitely not watered down. The only so-so part of the trip was the food. However, we didn't go in with high expectations being it is an all-inclusive. There is a good variety of restaurants, the hibachi Japanese and French were our favorites. Neither of us got sick or had any tummy troubles whatsoever. Being on the "club" side you also get unlimited 24 hour room service as well as an awesome lounge with drinks and food. The spa was really nice, we enjoyed the couples package. Fitness center was a decent size and there is yoga offered outside every morning. Entertainment is awesome, our favorites were the Michael Jackson show and the beach party. The staff are all so kind, friendly, and very eager to make your vacation enjoyable. There are some nice shops for souvenirs. The pools are all very nice. After walking the beach and seeing other resorts, we felt very confident in our decision. The resort is extremely well maintained and gorgeous. We highly recommend it, and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: If you are looking for a quieter area, request a garden view towards the beach. We had a gorgeous v...

Came for a wedding, fell in love with this place. Stayed on the club side, it is a must, free wifi and great food and no kids allowed. All the staff does everything to make your stay even more special. A few stand out members for us was both bartenders from the bar near the beach. Joaquin Rijo P. And Toiron Rodriguez, they instantly made us feel welcomed and part of the family! Can't wait to come back and see them next year!!

We arrived at the resort in the evening and were greeted with smile from all the staff, they got us to our beautiful room in minutes so that we could relax before meeting up with family. The food and entertainment were the best, all the staff, especially Odany Rosario, and Pedro Seguia, were very attentive and made you feel like family, We would definitely go back. The beaches are amazing, the people are wonderful, and you can relax and not worry about anything the staff will take care of everything.

Room Tip: We had a King room. I would recommend the swim up rooms.

We are checking out tomorrow and I have to say the trip has been great. I like most of you read the reviews before heading down and I have been pleasantly surprised by everything. The rooms and pools are great which was no surprise. We booked an excursion to go swim with sting rays and sharks which was fun as well. The only downfall was you couldn't take pictures of you doing this and if you wanted pictures you could buy them for $50. This was a bit crazy since we spent $75 a person to go on the excursion already. We passed so it'll only live in our memories. The staff is great here and super helpful. Now on to the food which seemed to be people's biggest disappointment. My new husband and I went in with low expectations do the other reviews and therefore we were extremely pleased with what we got. All of the restaurants were good although the French one was our least favorite. If you can book a romantic dinner for two which was great, lobster tail and filet minion which was our favorite dinner. The Chinese and hibachi were good as well as the steak house. Pretty standard. We had fajitas had the Mexican place and also our best margarita of the trip was is there. The buffets were pretty standard as was lunch and breakfast. I would say it's pretty similar to a cruise ship buffet. I think people just need to keep in mind this is not the US. There will be good similar to ours but nothing is going to taste the same because you are in a foreign country. Try the Majestic drink, it's frozen and taste like a creamsicle. This is what I'll miss the most!
