“Our first trip to the Majestic Colonial”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Our first trip to the Majestic Colonial was from 4/21/2013- 4/26/2013. Our reservations were made through CheapCaribean.com. The reservation was easy to make and included round trip airfare. We arrived at the airport and were met with Olympus Tours, after getting through customs and collecting our luggage. The Olympus tour workforce made our transfer from the airport to the Majestic Colonial effortless. When we arrived at the Majestic Colonial we met our butler DeLeon and he made our arrival the most welcoming arrival we have ever experienced. DeLeon made sure we relaxed by not rushing us into our room and leaving us. He sat us down in a receiving room and made us as comfortable as if we were in our own house. He gave us a tour of the hotel before he took us up to our room. We appreciated this personal touch.
The Majestic Colonial grounds are superior. They are kept cleaned and groomed. The staff is constantly warm and friendly. We met many staff members and will keep in touch with them. One staff member that we came in contact with was Orlando Moveta Santos. We reserved a romantic dinner on the Majestic Colonial beachfront. Orlando was our waiter and made our romantic dinner superior. He was personal, friendly, and superior waiter. We were relaxed knowing that Orlando would take special care of us. After our beach dinner we kept in contact with Orlando. He constantly went over and above his job to make us feel special, from sitting at the buffet lunch to talking to him about his family. When we go back to the Majestic Colonial we will request both DeLeon and Orlando to be with us.
The food at the Majestic was superior. We had the opportunity to either eat healthy or splurge. It was our decision but the food was excellent and plentiful.
In our opinion what made the Majestic Colonial stand out above all the other hotels we have been at was the staff. They always had a smile on their face and a happy greeting when they met you. They constantly went out of their way to make our vacation special and the best so far. We can't wait to get back to the Majestic Colonial!!! I would highly recommend experiencing the Majestic Colonial!!

Room Tip: We had room 4313 and it was away from the pools and beach. It was quiet, clean, and superior.

We arrived on the afternoon of Apr 22. Our rooms were not ready, so we were advised to get some lunch and come back. We would have preferred to get into our swimsuits and hop in the pool but c'est la vie.

I cheaped out and booked a jr suite....our room was in building one near the beach. It was showing some wear and tear, missing outlets, needed a coat of paint, and I wouldn't have taken a bath in the jacuzzi if someone had paid me. Friends of ours had booked the swim up room, and those rooms had better upkeep. I guess you get what you pay for! Room cleaning was pretty erratic, we were never sure when the maid was going to be in to clean, and a couple of times we asked her to come back the next day because we were trying to get ready for supper when she came by. Also location matters! Our room was near the beach, but we spent our time in the pool and would have been better off looking for a room closer to the main buildings. It was actually quite shocking the difference in quality of the two rooms.

The food on this resort was fantastic. The main buffet and lunch buffet by the beach never failed to impress. We loved the steakhouse, the "le gourmet" and the Japanese restaurants. The seafood failed to impress us, but we've heard others really enjoyed it.

The drinks were delicious, the Majestic with or without rum was yummy! The toucan was also a favorite....if you need a change, try an amaretto sour.

My favorite bar was the upstairs lobby bar, loved the servers, and the bar tenders!

This resort was quite large, so we didn't get to know all of the staff we encountered. We didn't spend much time by the swim up bar so we didn't get to know the entertainment staff. Also we weren't really impressed with the nightly shows...I never want to listen to drunk people sing karaokee...let alone while on vacation. The shows could definitely be improved upon, but we were happy to sit and talk in the lobby.

One more negative thing...the tiles used throughout this resort can be incredibly slippery when wet! Be extra careful when darting across your room with wet feet, or scurry down the halls from the pool.

It was a nice resort, I'd come back but only if I could book a swim up room. The beach was lovely, the weather was great. :)

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a swim up room if you intend to spend your time in the pool.

We really liked many things about this resort. Food was good, with a good selection and could always find some once it was after 7 am. One thing I wish was that they had coffee available early (5 am) in the dining area or lobby for early risers. Huge pool, never felt crowded. Beautiful beach with plenty of umbrellas. The rooms were large, quiet and cleaned very well. One thing - not much privacy in the bathroom area, as it opens into the main room, so everyone in the room needs to be comfortable with each other. The wait staff and housekeepers were all super friendly and work hard. The reception staff was not as friendly. The kids club was ok, but not very well organized with activities and not used by many kids though there is a couple of nice slides that end up in the pool..

My friend and I went to Punta Cana, DR from April 24th to April 29th and we stayed at the Magestic Colonial Resort. This is our first all-inclusive experience. The overall experience was good, but there is room for improvement.

Room: we did not go for the Club section of the resort, which is a more updated section and for about $30 a day more, you can get free wifi, free room service, more snacks and alcohol in your room, and a butler. We met a couple who stayed there and their room definitely is a lot nicer than ours. However, considering we barely stayed in our room, the lack of the extra perks wasn't a big deal. However, it would be nice if they provided a few more towels. We were either on the beach or in the pool, it would be nice to have a few extra towels for when you need to take multiple showers a day. When we called for extra towels, the housekeeping staff brought them to us fairly quickly.

Food: There are 6 restaurants on premise which are all-inclusive. Two buffet restaurants that are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A steak/grill place, a seafood place, a French place and an Asian place are only open for dinner. (The steak and seafood place are basically located in one of the buffet places but they give you different menu). The quality of the food is okay, nothing overly bad or good. They provide a good selection of foods that are internationally accepted. It would be nice to have more island/local food options. I would prefer to try the local cuisine over a good ol' cheeseburger. The French and the Asian restuarants require dinner reservation; they tend to book up fast, so book a day in advance. There are 5 or 6 bars on premise and everything is all-inclusive.

Entertainment: my friend and I had a blast with the entertainment crew (the animation team) during our trip. They put together something different each day to keep the guests entertained. We saw a bikini contest, joined a foam pool party (taking a bubble bath with 50 strangers is the best way to meet new people, booze helped of course), went to a beach bbq party, saw a Michael Jackson impersonation show and had fun with them at the club (the Disco). Tutti Fruity, Nemo, Maria, Chicken Legs, Lookey Lookey, and a few I didn't catch their names, they were so much fun to be around and they work very hard to make sure every guest is having a good time. Love the animation team!

Overall: my friend and I had a great time in Punta Cana. The resort certainly has room for improvement (there was a brief power outage), but I would definitely recommend MC Resort to anyone who wants to visit Punta Cana. The resort is very spacious, has plenty of things to do and the staff, especially guys, are flirty and fun. I miss Punta Cana already and I only came back yesterday!

Had a great time at Majestic Colonial Club. Stayed there the week of April 20th with my boyfriend. The place is absolutely gorgeous, as are the rooms. The service was great, never had to wait for someone to ask if we needed drinks while we were by the pool. Our butler, Joan, was great also. Would see him everyday and he always took to the time to come talk to us and ask if we needed anything. The food did start to get to us after 4 or 5 days, but it was OK and well worth the trip. We didn't do any excursions, but wish we would have. Overall had a great, relaxing time and would suggest this resort to anyone.

Loved the hotel, loved the people, loved the food! My favorite part of this trip was the Funjestic Team. Everyday they brought a positive attitude and enthusiasm that made things so, so much fun! We especially loved Lucero, Maria, Nemo and Tuti Fruty! Great service by the waiters too! JoseLuis, Happy Happy Always, and Candido were our favorites. Amazing time!

We had a girls trip and we all want to go back. I highly recommend paying a little extra and being a club member in the adult only area! Juan was our butler and made sure we had everything we needed! It was one of my friend's birthday on the trip and he made sure we got the dinner reservations we wanted and had them make her favorite cake which they presented us that night! When we go back we will request him again. We also loved Maria who worked in the club area beach. She was so happy and prompt!
Everyone working at the resort seemed genuinely happy and interested in making sure we had everything we needed and wanted.
The room was nice and clean. The room also had great air conditioning which is also a concern of mine in foreign countries.
The food.... Well we didn't visit the resort for gourmet food. It took us a couple of meals to figure out what we liked so we definitely didn't starve. I would say the food is average.
