My wife and I have just returned from our second trip this year to the Majestic Colonial resort, 17-24 Nov 2012. As we arrived early 1230, our room was not yet available, however we checked in and went off to have lunch at the buffet restaurant. The hostess who greeted us took three steps, turned around and said, "I know you." That was our second welcome back to this resort, the first being at check-in where we were welcomed "home". Our room had a banner across the door which said welcome back and every afternoon a snack plate arrived with a bottle of wine, a great way for the resort to show their appreciation for returning guests.

Room: was clean and did not have any musty odour that we have had at other resorts. Housekeeper cleaned the room each day and we were never short of toiletries or towels. Had a problem with one sink, plumber arrived within 30 minutes and fixed the problem within minutes.

Food: we went to the Supreme (buffet), La Hispaniola (seaside), Taino (Mexican), Matsuri (Oriental), Rodeo Grill and Tres Carabelas restaurants. We found the selection and choice of meals to be more than enough to satisfy our palates. The buffet restaurant had a large enough selection to satisy every guests needs. We enjoyed the Matsuri restaurant and the Rodeo Grill/Tres Carabelas restaurants.

Pool/Beach: the pool is without a doubt the best we have seen, well maintained, both pool and surroundings. We spent most of our time in the pool. The beach was great with only a small amount of seaweed. It afforded us a place to sunbath plus take walks morning and afternoon. There was some erosion of the beach from Hurricane Sandy but did not have a negative effect on our visit.

Resort staff: the staff are without a doubt the most courteous and friendly. We were always greeted by the staff in a friendly manner and this alone is probably one of the factors which makes us want to return to this resort. Not being fluent in Spanish, when we spoke to them with our limited vocabulary, they corrected us if we said a phrase/word incorrectly which permitted us to learn a bit more, definitely a plus for us.

Overall, I would have no problem recommending this resort for all of the things that vacationers are looking for. Beautiful surroundings, clean accommodation, good food, courteous and friendly staff and good value for the money. What more could you ask for?

Get your diner at the beach buffet at night it turns out into two restaurants Sea food and steak house. Lobster until you can't eat no more.
Nice beach and lots of palapas that you don't have to reserve! I would definetly go back.

My husband and I travelled to this resort with two friends. From our arrival to our departure we were treated extremely well. We were upgraded to the newly opened Majestic Club rooms. They were exquisite. We had our own patio with walk out to the pool. The people at the resort were courteous and freindly. We would like to mention Arelis, Victor, Estaphanie, Jose, Norberto, Santa, Narobi, and Angel for making our stay a great experience. We will miss our daily shots of Dominican Power with Jose leading the cheer. Arelis's wonderful smile and contagious laugh. Thank you all for a memorable vacation, we will definitely be back.

Our flight with British Airways was efficient nothing more, remember that you will stop at Antigua on both the outbound and inbound filights with BA and will sit in the plane for an hour or more, which wasn't clear on booking.

Prior to our arrival I e-mailed the hotel and requested a ground floor room towards the beach due to travelling with our 16th month old son, I received prompt replies and our request was met.

Check in at the hotel was quick and pleaseant.

Our room, a Jnr suite, was very nice and I can't report any problems with cleanliness or the quality of the fixtures and fittings.

Our lasting memory will be the friendliness of so many of the staff that we met, too many to name individually but a big thank you to Snr Jose De La Rosa and his team who entertained our son continously through meal times.

We ate at the Buffet, Grill, Fish, Mexican, Oriental and Beach restaurants and found the food at all of them to be very good in variety, quality and taste, how anybody can say that the food was inedible at this hotel I don't know. The staff made sure our glasses didn't go empty and the all-inclusive wine was french and very drinkable :).

The beach was lovely and goes on for miles, the sea was too rough at times for our young son maybe because of the time of year. There are some beach vendors but we never felt bothered by them.

The main pool is huge and very nice, with an area for adults and a separate shallow pool for the kids.

There were lots of activities taking place either on the beach or round the pool during the day again we weren't pressured to take part.

This is a large hotel, larger than we normally go to and having read some reviews I must admit to being a little apprehensive prior to arrival. I can only speak as I find, and must say that we had a very nice holiday overall with no issues to mention that were not resolved quickly and without fuss.

My apprehensions were unfounded, were ever you go you could find issue with something and the Majestic is no different but as I said we had a very nice two weeks made especially so by so many of the staff.
