We just got back last Friday – and we thought it was a great vacation. We were a little worried beforehand because of some of the reviews – but as usual – it’s a different experience for each individual. Thank goodness we missed Hurricane Irene! We had a terrific vacation with excellent service at this beautiful resort. The Majestic is very clean, magnificent with its long, winding pool. The grounds are just as breathtaking and very well kept.
The main buffet is wonderful. So many choices and also a omelet/egg station at breakfast and a grilled to order station at lunch/dinner. There is also a pasta station at lunch/dinner. The breakfasts were tremendous with a huge choice of cereals, breads, eggs, doughnuts, fruits, crepes, pancakes/French toast and much more. The lunches and dinners also had a large variety of choices. We ate at Le Gourmet the first evening. It was delicious!! Also ate at Matsuri twice – once for the hibatchi was awesome. Food was very good. Then ate there another evening for the sushi bar. Another terrific choice. We decided to try Taino one evening – my husband wanted to try the Dominican cuisine. He was very happy with the choice – I ate the Mexican and everything was very dry and bland. The beach restaurants are also very good – lunch was nice too with the Panini press. Whether you are picky or eat everything – there are many choices for everyone.
The staff in all areas were great – attentive and willing to do anything to make our stay fantastic. We were very impressed with the restaurant staff who went the extra distance. As far as bars – we were very happy with the main lobby bar although other bars around the resort do not have the same alcohol selections as the main bar. It was a little bit of a let down since this was a five star resort.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The design of the toilet being in a stall (like a public stall) was kind of strange but we got used to it. The mini refrigerator was always well-stocked. The pool is just beautiful – it was very nice to step outside our patio door and get into the pool. It was cleaned everyday – and around the pool multiple times during the day. Some of the guests were just plain dirty – leaving their empty plastic cups IN and AROUND the pool. Maybe if there were more trash containers, then guests would deposit them into the trash. I also stepped in gum by the pool – someone felt it necessary to leave their gum there – so nice to have to get someone’s chewing gum off of my foot. Yuck!! There are plenty of loungers around the pool areas and beach – both in and out of the shade. There are also servers walking around the pool and beach taking drink orders – it was very nice.
My husband booked a fishing trip from the resort – he enjoyed it although the ocean was a bit rough the day he went. He caught five mahi mahi. While he was fishing, I enjoyed a 50 minute massage – it was magnificent. The spa is very nice – and prices for services are very reasonable.
If you want to buy items to take home from your vacation, there are a number of shops on the resort property. The prices for items were all about the same. We purchased a number of trinkets to take home. One evening, there is a group of vendors that gather near the lobby – it was nice to have a group of vendors to buy from – but they are very pushy.
One of our only complaints was that the public areas walking around the pool and resort get very slippery when wet (either from rain or mopping). My husband and I almost slipped a number of times. Also, we were checking out and the woman at Check Out seemed a bit bored with her and didn’t even say “hope you come back to stay with us again.”
All in all – it’s a beautiful resort. It’s hard to not have a great time in paradise! Not so sure if we would go back there as we like to try other resorts – preferably a resort without lots of small children running around and making noise.
