This was our first all-inclusive trip, we are three bartenders and whenever we travel we spend so much on alcohol we decided this was the way to go. We were all excited to get away.
There are a lot of pros to Dreams Punta Cana and those giving one star must be miserable people as you are in paradise, nothing is ever going to be perfect and Dreams was never that bad. The service and the staff were beyond accommodating and friendly. The rooms, which we were slightly nervous about, were great. We had adjoining rooms on the first floor, not ground, and they were clean and updated and always nice and cold. The swim up room is not worth the extra money as all the rooms are super close to the pool and you avoid chances of seeing bugs (not that we saw any, they sprayed daily, but you are in the tropics). The pool was beyond amazing and is where we spend most of our time, nicely maintained.
The food was really unimpressive, by day three we were over it and ready to be home. We returned on the 7th day and I have never been so happy to see an airport Wendy's. The only decent place were coco cafe and the italian place. Also the alcohol is watered down. Very dissapointing, we ended up buying our own Absolute in the gift shop two times. I researched it and in the Dominican the well brands are defiintely lower proof, so make sure you ask for name brands, which are still slightly watered down. I know ice melts in the Caribean quickly, but just to make sure I tried the absolute straight and could tolerate drinking it, which should never be the case. We did find out that the bar in the lobby when you walk in is the best and I believe has less watered down, probably to give a good impression.
The Spa was great, one of the best massages I have ever had. The beach was clean but disappointing as the water was slightly rough. This resort is on the rougher side of the country, I took and excursion to swim with rays and sharks 45 minutes away and that brought the quite, clear water that was expected.
This resort isn't the best for people going to have fun without kids in the way, but great for families as there are many activities for kids. Couples seemed happy here as well, there just wasn't much for a group of girls to do at night besides go to the disco which was filled with locals some nights. I believe all resorts in Punta Cana offer a locals rate, and they probably frequent the cheaper places so this one didn't have a high volume.
Felt safe and definitely did the trick of a relaxing get away, just learned we prefer somewhere adults only, much better food, and better alcohol.. although if the food was outstanding the alcohol wouldn't matter.
Great first all-inclusive, if you have small children or are going as a couple definitely worth a look!
**Also, talked to a few people that upgraded to preferred club and said absolutely not worth it, it is at a lot of resorts but not this one!**
