Let me start by saying that the staff were the most helpful and friendly people you could possibly hope for. The rooms and pool area are clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the sit down restaurants were disappointing to say the least. At most 'seafood' restaurants my biggest concern is that the seafood tends to be served a bit undercooked. This was not a problem at The Oceana. From appetizers through the main course, everything was extremely overcooked and too dry. The night we ate at the Asian restaurant, there was no sushi menu provided. The chef said that he did not have enough inventory to offer a sushi menu that night. Every dish that we ordered from the Chinese menu was served fried: the wonton in the soup, the dumpling in the dim sum, the side dish of vegetables, and even the ice cream we ordered for desert. The World Café Buffet offered a nice variety and the serving staff was wonderful. They greeted us by our first names from the day we arrived. Keep in mind that this is a family friendly resort, so the buffet restaurant is overrun by small children during most meals. The sit down restaurants had much quieter atmospheres so it was disappointing that the meals offered were not more appealing. If you have small children and you plan on eating most of your meals at the buffet, I think this would be a great place for you and your family. As a parent with teenage children, I think I'll try a different resort next time we visit the DM.

Greetings from Punta Cana. Thank you for taking the time to write your comments about our resort. First of all like you we do think that we have a great staff and that they do an great job. Concerning your comments about the asian restaurant we are sorry to see that the dishes that you have ordered are the fried ones. But also you could have tried our wakame, mango and ginger salad, our beef mongolian, pow chicken ect. For the comments about our sushi bar we do have the products on hand now since there was a delay in us receiving the sushi products being all of them imported like the smoke eel, the asian wine vinegar ect. We do take great pride in our food and we are sorry that you did not get to meet our chef, i am sure that you would have loved is food.
