We travelled here from April 30 - May 15th with my husband and I and our daughter (10) from England. We stayed standard service not preferred club. I really wanted to write an honest review of this resort as we had the most fantastic holiday. This is our second trip to the Dominican Republic but the first time to this resort.

We travelled here to celebrate my 40th birthday, and after travelling for 23 hours due to delays we were exhausted by the time we arrived at the resort. We were greeted by very friendly staff who took care of our luggage and we were given a refreshing drink. We were quickly checked in and given our room details.

When we reached our room there was a banner on the door saying "happy birthday" a lovely touch! When we got in the room we were thrilled as the hotel had given us a junior suite. It was lovely with 2 double beds, lounge area with sofas and tv, flat screen tv in sleeping area and jacuzzi on the balcony! There were 2 sinks with large wall mirror, walk in wardrobe and bathroom with walk in shower. This was all lovely and clean, and although we had to contact reception as the sliding balcony door lock didn't work, this was fixed straight away with no problem. They clean the rooms daily and also turn down the beds in the evening. The fridge is stacked with bottles of beer, fanta, coke, diet coke and sprite, and water great!! They post an activity schedule and food/bar opening times etc for the following day through your door every evening, again a first for me and a great touch.

The pool is spectacular! It's huge really amazing and a fab swim up bar. We never had a problem finding a seat by the pool at any time of the day! Even when busy, the pool never seemed overcrowded as its so big you can always find your own quiet spot if you wanted it. There are areas of the pool to suit everyone. Fun lively parts, family parts and quieter parts, and the pool chairs are lovely and comfortable.

The beach is nice, honestly not the best part of the holiday for me as we spent most of it at the pool. but we had some lovely days down there. There is a designated swimming area as there is coral in some parts of the sea but it was lovely and sandy and warm. We did take a walk to the left of the resort as there are shops about half an hour away and we didn't have any problems. We had a guy approach us to look at his shop but we said no thank you and he never gave us any grief. We never got harassed by any beach sellers. There are a couple of people offering excursions if you want them but we were never once harassed by anyone.

The food is amazing. There is something for everyone. If you can't find something you like here you'd have to be the fussiest person in the world. The buffet is amazing the hard work that goes in to producing these fabulous dishes is incredible. We ate here for breakfast and some dinners. For lunch we either ate at the barefoot grill on the beach where they serve burgers, hot dogs, chicken, potato wedges and nachos. Great food on the go. When we wanted a break from the sun we went to the Oceana restaurant. This place is amazing and has spectacular views of the beach. My favourite was the chicken and shrimp kebab skewers. This was also the amazing seafood restaurant in the evening. Our favourite a la carte was the seaside grill for dinner where they serve the best steaks and mozzarella sticks I've ever tasted. The baby back ribs were amazing. The other a la cartes were Mexican, Italian, seafood and sushi type but we didn't try them all as we loved the seaside grill but others said they were great. You can eat there as many times as you like and don't have to book. We have never experienced this in other resorts as its normally limited. We also tried the room service for breakfast and dinner one evening again this was fab and all included, again normally this is extra. Premium brand drinks are also included and served at the bar.

The service everywhere is unbeatable. Their moto is best is not enough we must be excellent! They really mean this and go all out to make your holiday the best it can be. This goes for the people who greet you at the door, waiting staff, bar staff to the outstanding entertainment team or the people who spend endless hours sweeping keeping the place spotless. We never felt like we had to tip but did so when we wanted to. We gave a few dollars to one of the dedicated sweepers much to his surprise as I think they go unappreciated. The staff really do work tirelessly to make your holiday great, please take time to appreciate this with a simple smile and 'hola' or 'gracias' it goes along way.

My daughter went to the explorers club for kids a few times and really loved it. I'm usually quite wary at leaving her in kids club but we watched a few of the activities on the beach they did with the kids and they are fantastic with them, she really enjoyed the camp activity on the beach and they provide you with a mobile phone so you can contact them or they you if there are any probs which is reassuring. The staff are amazing a special thanks to vikki and all the other fabulous staff that made my daughters holiday so enjoyable.

The star quality of this resort is the friendly staff and the incredible entertainment team they have. Take time to play a few of the games they organise throughout the day and get to know these guys they are amazing. They really made our holiday and we really enjoyed chatting and having fun with them. They all do a fantastic job and a special thanks to Ezekiel, Wilbert, Wilson, Chiquiline, Grecia who is a star, hannora and JC to name just a few you guys are great! We love you for free!!!

The evening entertainment is great for a resort, some of the best we have seen, the entertainment team put on some fabulous shows and the circus act is great.

I could rave on and on about this resort it really is great, I really don't know how anyone can find anything negative to say. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, they even have resident flamingoes! We were never harrassed by anyone trying to sell us things. They do have sellers in twice a week but they do not harrass you and if your not interested in buying anything just dont look at their tables and if they ask you to look then say no gracias.

We met some fabulous people who we will keep in contact with, and many thanks to the conceirge especially Nancy who I wanted to thank personally but unfortunately on the couple of occasions I tried to find was unable to so if your reading this many thanks from the Macdonald family!

Would we return ? ABSOLUELY! I'm already looking into booking for next year. The weather was fabulous too.

I was at the Dreams from the 9-16 April with my sister,we had a great vacation.The food was great and good service.The room were keep clean.We were close to the beach which is not the best in Punta Cana,lots of reef,so we were limited to where we could go in the water.Dreams is 60 minutes from Punta Cana,and the nearest resort from Dreams is a 45 minutes walk on the beach going west,to the east of the resort there is nothing but abandoned resorts,and that is where the danger of vandalism is done.The sigh at the resort as to ''Don't leave the resort'' is not visible from where we were because it was under a short/young palm tree hidden under the leaves.On Sunday April the 15th,I was attaced by a black man with a knife to get my necklace,he crab me at the throat to get my jewlery and crab my right wrist to pull me toward him toward the jungle to get my ring,so I pull my hand away from him and threw myself in the surf wave to save my life.My sister was walking in from of me and when she realize what was happening, she ran toward a couple to get help,by that time I was out of the water running to get to safety.The incident was reported to security and the search was on to get the man which I gave the description as accurate as I could remember from his look and what he was wearing.All the abandon resort were fenced in, so it did not take long to find 3 man,and I had to ID one of the man in the resort's parking lot 2 hours later.I never got my necklace back but I learn a lesson,DO NOT WEAR JEWELERY,even fake gold, because it look so real that you may put yourself in danger. I was given a business card to make a follow up to the investigation but never got a reply.The resort had my money and I was leaving the next day so they did not care how I had to deal with this traumatic experience.I will never go there because it is in the middle of nowhere. I will travel again to Punta Cana but will go the the resort that I visited before.

No resort is perfect, so let me tell you what was nice here: First, the staff-friendly, plesasant, helpful, ALWAYS said OLA when passing. Beach and pool were top notch. Restaurants were nice, most lacked air conditioning. Food was "fine"-a little better than I expected. If you sign up for the PREFERRED package you get amenities such as a brand name liquor bar, nicer beach area, private breakfast, and private concierge area. I recommend it.
Rooms are clean but no WOW factor. More to do in a day than you can imagine. One hour busride from airport.
They do over 600 weddings a year here-lots of "happy" groups all about.

We have just returned from a great vacation (May 5-12). This was our second visit to this resort and this time was even better than the first. The staff is wonderful and willing to help you with anything you like they are all very friendly. Our room was very nice and the only complaint we had about the room was the sheets were not fitted and did not want to stay on the bed. The resort is a beautiful place to stay and has a lot to offer kids. The nights are awesome at the beach with the breeze and salt air. Would love to go back again!
