“Great holiday”

Only problem was that hotel was a little too big. We went in July so beach and swimming pool will be very busy in the peck season as it was very hard to get sunny beds after 1100 . Very clean.. Staff let you get on with your holiday, no hanging around to be tipped.

We stayed on room 79103 for 6 nights and the bathroom ceiling was leaking water to the bathtub. When we reported it to " guess service " they said they will try to fix it because the hotel was full a there were no rooms available. I had to bathed my 4 years old holding an umbrella during the whole week so the dirty water wont fell over her. The air-conditioning is disconnected in the middle of the night to save energy, that was explained to us by the maintenance person that was sent when we ask the air to be fixed. The house keeping ladies will leave the balcony door open after they did your room because the door has a sensor that when you open it the air conditioning turns off. So when you get to the room it was like an oven. You have to pay 49.99 to get internet for seven days an they promise you can use it all over the complex, lies!!! you have to go to the lobby to use the internet. The check in is at 3:00 pm but the room was not ready until 6:00 pm and when you go to the front desk to complaint the will tell you to go eat to the buffet like we look hungry. The room minibar was suppose to be restock daily with beer and sodas, after two days of empty minibar we ask the house keeping lady who toll us they had not received supplies for the minibar in over two day, when we ask in guess service we were told that was not true. At the end we realized that they have not respect nor know the meaning of what customer service is. After a week of of nobody caring for what was going on I'm pretty sure that someone will take the time to answer this review to try to explained the unexplainable. First and last time in punta cana for us.

Just returned from vacationing here: the grounds were lovely; staff was so accommodating and always happy; rooms were very clean and comfortable; not a bug in sight; beach chairs always available; weather perfect; entertainment was fun and differed nightly; beach is clean and water was warm; and food was more than I could ask for. Hope to return again and again. Stayed in the Ambar, so it was adults only....met many many many wonderful people who were just as pleased. If I had to change anything it would probably be to have more staff that speaks English and to have buffet restaurants better air conditioned. All in all though, a perfect vacation.

Room Tip: No elevators, so request a ground-floor room if stairs would pose a problem.

We stayed at this hotel from the 1st -14th June,and can safely say that it was, without doubt, one of the best holidays that we have been on in 20 years .
The staff that we met ensured that we were looked after and were always friendly and had a ready smile on their faces,even the shuttle bus drivers pointed out to us that we had no need to travel up to the main restaurant for our breakfast as there was a restaurant nearby where we could have our breakfast,this may seem trivial to some people ,but to us it just showed that everybody at this resort was involved in ensuring that we were here to relax and enjoy our stay.
We stayed in block 25 and found that this was an ideal location for us as it enabled us to either enjoy the beach nearby ,or we could take a leisurely stroll up to the pools.
We must also thank our maid Yoanny ,as she ensured that our room was always clean and beautifully looked after,anything that we asked her for ,she would do her best to supply us with.
We wondered why people complained about the food ,quality and choice,as we had no problems at all ,in fact we were extremely pleased with the choices in all of the restaurants ,and the breakfast choices ensured that we had a good start to the day.Another of the high standards that we noticed was that each restaurant had hand gel available at the entrance and somebody ensuring that you used it ,top marks in our book
We could go on and on about small details ,but ultimately these created ,for us ,an excellent experience.
We will be returning next year,and we would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family,which is not something that we normally do,that is how highly we rated this hotel .
There are choices that you can make when booking this hotel(amber ,esmerelda,hacienda),so if you have personal choices about what type of holiday you want to have ,then we would recommend that you check these out before booking.
All in all ,as we have said ,this was probably our best holiday in 20 years and we know that next year we will enjoy it even more as there were some aspects of the hotel that we did not get to enjoy ,our own fault.
One of the most enjoyable things was that no 2 days were the same,that`s ,to us ,an indication of a good holiday.
We had no issues with tipping any of the staff ,and we knew that they were not working for tips ,contrary to some remarks made by some reviewers,the service did not change whether you tipped or not.
There are too many people to mention ,to commend but we say too the management ,we would like to thank everybody for making our holiday the lovely experience that it was.
See you all next June

We have just arrived back on the 13th July 2014. The hotel was great and staff very friendly. The rooms are a good size, and are kept very clean by the maid.
Having read some reports on here i thought the staff would be unfriendly.
During ours stay we didn't find a member of staff that didn't have a smile on there face and try to make you feel welcome.
The beach was fantastic and kept very clean.
The resort caters for all, from quiet area's to areas where the animation team provide fun activities.
The evening entertainment was also very good.
i would also add Stuart the Thomas Cook rep was always on hand to help if you needed.
we found the good to be very good and there was lots of choice, we took full advantage of the al'a'carte restaurants and found them to be a high standard.
Service at the bars was good you didn't have o tip to be served in order.
Fresh beach towels always available daily.
All in all a great relaxing holiday. staff work long hours and hard to ensure you enjoy your break.
Would recommend you when on the Mega Truck excursion to learn about the True Dominican.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Hacienda Club room as they are closer to the beach.

Spent 2 weeks here with boyfriend & Family,i'll try keep this short sweet & useful,

This resort is AMAZING!staff constantly working and cleaning, great choice of food and drinks available 24/7, big clean up to date rooms with air con, everything a short distance away ( if your lazy like me you can get the shuttle bus's that constantly run so your never waiting more than 5 mins.)

excursions- all trips are no longer than 30 mins on a bus :-) i was looking forward to the dolphin explorer but was a tad dissapointed with all the waiting around and not being allowed use a camera although my partner loved it! the pirate show & Dr fish trips were absolutely AMAZING the pirate show was so entertaining for adults and kids we had a blast!! and the Dr fish spa day was so relaxing and refreshing great end to the holiday.

reading other peoples bad reviews had me a little worried,I had nothing but great experiences (apart from the terrible evening entertainment lol ) & to the people who gave out stink about this resort are just miserable & looking for faults if you ask me.

Also I felt absolutely no pressure to tip anyone & I didnt apart from the bell boys helping with our luggage (5 dollar tip), I was treated no different from people who left alot of tips.

if your looking to just relax or have adventurous excursions this is the spot,
I wouldnt recommend this to real party people up all night drinking,theres only one small nightclub.

I will 100% be returning to this fab resort :)

Some good, some not so good. The beach is beautiful - soft white sand, clean and well-maintained. The airconditioning in the room was excellent, removing humidity without overdoing the chill. The staff, except for one clerk on the reception desk, were friendly, efficient and willing to put up with my mangled attempts at Spanish. My grandsons loved the shuttle train that cruised the grounds. One of the evening shows we saw was excellent by comparison to most other resorts. Onsite shopping was reasonably priced compared to many resorts. On the downside, the resort nickel-and-dimes on a number of things: $4 US for a wake-up call, and $4 a day to use the security box in the room. The buffet food was mediocre, with good variety in the ingredients but a boring uniformity of the end result. The water park was closed to older children, so my younger grandson didn't go because his brother wasn't permitted. Several other child-friendly amenities were out of service.
