My wife and I travelled from Nov. 20-30th and this was our first trip to the beautiful Dominican Republic. Check in and transfer was good as we went booked through Apple Vacations so the process was quick and painless. At check-in we were able to make all our dinner reservations for the weeks stay and given the keys for the room.

Our room was in building 34 in the middle of the complex facing the pool. This is a large resort made up of 5 different resorts in 1 but it very manageable after your first day. There is a trolley system to use if you choose (recommended but not always necessary). Our room was right in the middle so we used it when we didn't have to wait long for the trolley (waits aren't usually more than 5 minutes during the busy times but can be longer during the later hours).

Our room was on the 3rd floor and had a mini-fridge, jetted tub, king bed, balcony overlooking the pool area, robes & slippers....etc. The maid did a wonderful job cleaning the room daily and anything else we needed and had to call for was provided for in a timely manner. The only negative we found about the rooms were that they were dimly lit (we even tried taking the lampshades off but it still left it too dark).

The buffet restaurants for breakfast were great and always stocked with plenty of choices. The Ale-Carte restaurants were all superb. We read lots of reviews about service being slow and this is true but what's the hurry??? You just finished your day at the beach and now its night time and time to unwind a bit. So sit back and relax, the service is not that slow it is in a timely manner. The bar service at all the bars was fantastic and the drinks were great. Don't forget your Bubba Kegs or other special cups because the cups they give are small and the drinks get warm rather quick in the warm sun.

The nightly entertainment shows were O.K. but we don't sit through them as they all tend to be dance shows, and that's not something we enjoy. We do sit through the pre-show entertainment and usually the first 20 minutes of the show then head over to lobby bar to see their nightly drink mixtures of the night. Each night there are 3 different cocktails for you to try if you choose. Why not? It's all-inclusive.....if you don't like it the bar is only a few feet away.

We went to the market several nights for shopping and did lots of bartering for our souvenirs. We found lots of good deals. Also in the market was the casino (went twice) small but entertaining enough to get you by if you feel lucky. and the disco......which was actually decent compared to other resort discos we have been to.

The beach was superb. It was a soft powdery white beach. The water was wavy but still very capable of swimming in (green and yellow flags all days). The staff did an awesome job of cleaning the beach all day long so the sea grass was never an issue. We walked down the beach a few times down to the market (looong walk) but very interesting if you have the legs. Just have your Bubba Keg filled before you leave.

We didn't do any excursions or any sightseeing outside the resort as we just went on vacation to sit and relax on the beach and to swim in the ocean. Overall this was everything we were hoping for and then some. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this resort or recommend it to our friends. This is my second time at Bahia Principe. this time I brought my parents and they were also very impressed with the resort as I was. The staff is great, the resort is stunning, the water at the beach is heavenly, and the food variety is excellent! Andy and Elena at the club Hacienda were the best staff I have met. They were very helpful and always ready to answer any questions. They made our stay a wonderful memory!

First time at Grand Bahia, and to the Dominican,
Beautiful beach, lovely pool areas, lots to do (day or night), great selection of foods, helpful staff, and convenient shuttle services.
Little disappointed at pool closing times, but fully understanding reasons behind it.
We arrived around 11:30 am and were not aware of the 3 pm check in - but we given our wristbands - relaxed - had some lunch, drinks and than taken to our rooms
Rooms were spotless and cleaned before returning from breakfast everyday - how wonderful is that - staff who cleaned our room we never saw - but, the guy who was stocking our mini bar was amazing - even running for our ice, getting a technician for our safe 2 times & help for the phone when it was dead - he was just so friendly and amazing, I wish I could have gotten his name -he deserves a raise..
I have already recommend to friends and will return very soon.

The has been quite the experience. The staff is possibly some of the most charasmatic and wonderful staff (Andy is the greatest). The food is to die for and the drinks are always made to your liking. Sex on the beaches take your cherries and blue lagoons leave you wanting the ocean. Late night snacks by the beach.
