As titled , First time travellers will absolutely love this place. However, anyone who has travelled to other all inclusive resorts will find this place less than impressive.
Check in - worst experience ever. They attempted to check in a bus load of us all at the same time, which led to mass chaos and frustration. The frustration was not only felt by us tourists, but also by the check in staff. Many of use either did not have a room readilly available or recieved wrong rooms. Various distributed "check in" packets were missing forms , keys, braceletss , etc. and the various guests were all trying to get a resolve at the same time. I was the only one to have a complete packet, but our room was not available due to maid service not complete. We were told to comback in half an hour. So we came back after a 1 hour walk about, and still not ready, told to come back in another half hour, which we did , and still not ready.., I thought I was being polite when I asked "...when will our room be ready?" but apparently I was mistaken, as I was firmly told in an unappreciated tone "... Sir, I have no idea as to when your room will be ready..." Perhaps this now set the tone for my 10 day visit. and it really irked me when my room was finally ready , but half way thru my final transaction of check in, I was completely ignored such that another guest was completely serviced.
Room - absolutely nothing special. It was exactly like the Gran Bahia principe Jamaica. Only thing was the maid service in Jamaica was far superior. Making up a room here is not a thorough event. Evidence can be seen via the small traces of mold around the tub as well as the profanity written on a shower fogged mirror left from previous guests.
Staff - Other than check in, servie was relatively quick, but something is just missing ...not one member of the staff showed any enthusiasm for our stay , nor the stay of other guests. I believe this to be the result of the resort being absolutely huge with an over crowded population of guests from all around the world, and all guests figuring that their money is better than others and are more deserving than others , leading to many frustrations. Tipping made no difference, you were just another tourist, and they were just doing a job. a very industrial factory feeling.
Food - Ala Cartes were decent , snack bar by the oean pool was good, but the main buffet could easily be compared to a 3 star Cuban resort.
Pool - nice pools but crowded, definetely not enough loungers.
Beach and Ocean - very sandy and large beach with ample supply of loungers ... just not an ample supply in shade. Many of those loungers in shade were constantly reserved with towels by 8 am by guests who never showed up. The ocean was filled with drifting sea weed.
Bugs - I do not know if it was tiny mosquitoes or sand fleas , but many of us had our legs welted by numerous bites from something.
Grounds - very well manicured by many hard working people.
Bar service - quick, but limited selection unless you wanted to pay extra $$$
Overall I was semi disappointed mostly due to staff service. I feel that if their entire staff were given lessons and constantly trained on customer appreciation, with their jobs on the line, only then could I recommend this resort to the seasoned traveller.
