My husband and I spent our 10th anniversary at this resort. We booked the Platinum Package through Vacations To Go which I recommend. We go somewhere twice a year, always all inclusive Caribbean and Mexico, so we are familiar with what to expect. Other that one minor thing this was a great resort. I would rate this a solid 4, maybe 4 1/2 out of 5.

First the bad:

When we got to the resort we were told it was our "lucky day" we were being upgraded to a Honeymoon Suite. When we booked I requested a regular room in Bldg. 5 by the beach. We were given a room in Bldg. 3. It is the building farthest from the beach and the room was on the top floor at the far end. I wasn't happy about the location but the view was AWFUL! We were overlooking the resort "dump". Broken palapas, etc. The room was done in all white with a balcony and whirlpool bath. Being all white, it showed every scuff. It could have used a paint job. The next morning we switched to a room in Bldg 1. This was a regular room but was MUCH nicer. The front desk was nice about the switch.

The good:

Everything else.

The grounds are very pretty. The pool is really nice, although a little cool for my taste. Wonderful pool beds and beach beds and palapas. Great beach. Lots of chairs.

The food was about what you expect at an AI. The buffet was pretty good. The Italian restaurant had good food but the service was slower than most. The steak house was ok too. We really liked the fondue place. The seafood restaurant by the beach was very good. Excellent ceviche!

We also booked a beach dinner on our anniversary. I was overwhelmed! I expected a table on the sand and maybe a tiki torch or something. We had a table in the pergola outside the seafood restaurant. The beach was lined with palm fronds, fig leaves, & flowers forming a pathway to the pergola. They took our arms and escorted us to our table while humming the wedding march. We were served 2 different wines plus a bottle of champagne. Had a 5 course meal with dessert. They really went out of their way to make our evening special. We were given printed menus to take with us, they took pictures for us, 3 waiters served us. All this for $50 US !!! Worth 3x that.

The people in DR are fantastic. They are the friendliest, happiest, most helpful people we have encountered. They genuinely love tourists. Please understand that these people live off of their tips, not their salary. Even though tipping is included in the package we always take $100 -$150 in $1's and $5's. Let's face it. 1. The service is always better when you tip 2. They really need it and work their backsides off for it and 3. If you can afford the trip, you can afford the tips.

For anyone contemplating DR or Punta Cana Princess, you won't go wrong with either.

One tip: Watch out for the Mamajuana! It tastes pretty good, and a shot or two is fine. Just don't drink too much of it because it will give you the WORST heartburn you've ever had the next day. (Normally we never have it.)
Also if you want to take it home make sure that it is in a bottle. Don't buy the stuff in the plastic bags - they confiscate it at the airport! We found out the hard way.

It saddens me to write this report, as our vacation was great. HOWEVER, while my luggage was in the Punta Cana Princess' secured luggage lock-up for the day, my video ipod was stolen. Not my passport or money, but my ipod. The hotel is refusing to take responsibility for the theft and will not file a stolen property report in order for me to get compensation. Please be wary in trusting this hotel with anything.

This place really is a slice of paradise! The people, the rooms, the food...WOW!! On our last day, we asked ourselves, as well as any of the other people we had met there what they would complain about, and it was the same answer all around: NOTHING. We had seasoned travellers telling us this was the best place they have ever been, and myself, I can hardly believe it could get any better.

The grounds and beach are amazing. Everyday the crew is out there raking the beach. The grounds maintenance team doesn't even let a bush get overgrown!! There was one groundskeeper who came to our terrace and brought us fresh coconuts and straws. Nothing out of place, and no litter.

Our suite was beautiful. Nice king bed, always clean, never saw a bug (unless you consider the one house fly and the caterpillar on the terrace). Our mini fridge was always stocked, and if we wanted something else, it was only a phone call away.

Ok, time to talk about food. The buffet had great breakfast, and there was never a line for the omelette station. Actually, there are no lines for anything here at all (except limbo contest). The buffet is quick to refill, the food is fresh and tasty. I love the juice assortment, and the fresh fruit everywhere. For buffet dinner, we did the Italian and Asian theme. The Italian, was amazing great pastas and meat. The Asian theme night had a guy making the sushi fresh in front of you! La Petite Fondue (Swiss) was a bit hot inside, but our cheese fondue was delicious. Jose set us up with the "romantico" table, and brought us a lovely dessert with heart shaped marshmallows. Mare Nostrum (Mediterranean) had really nice lobster! Their calamari melted in your mouth! Il Bacio (Italian), was just too good to describe in writing!!! Oh, but the best if the Rio Grande Steak House. I have to tell you, this steak is like nothing I had ever had before. Everyone at the resort was recommending it to us, and we definitely loved it! The lunch assortment here is very good. If you order room service, get the calzone...yum!!!

Never a line-up at a bar. Ever. The bartenders will even remember your name and drink! I love these guys.

The staff... Well, everyone will say "hola" to you anytime you pass them. So friendly. The hardest part of leaving was saying goodbye to them. Guest services (Juan and Adriana) will bend over backwards for you, they are wonderful. The restaurant staff is right on point. I have never in my life had such great service in any restaurant! I really loved Hector at the beach bar, but he was a shameless flirt, and I eat that right up. The animation team is crazy, and I will miss them the most. If you go here, get involved with these guys, they made our trip such a blast! On our last night, Danni with animation saw us come in, and right away seeing there was limited seating, set us up with a table and chairs! And he would greet me with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Jose, or "Mr. Happy" is just that, lol. Andres, "Eddie Murphy" is probably the nuttiest, but he dragged me out a couple times, and I had a blast!!! I loved dancing up there with them, the limbo, karaoke, couple competition, water aerobics...

This is not a place to go to party all day. There is no loud music pumping on the beach. (I should add, never a problem getting a hut or a lounge chair. Even on the beach at 1:00!) The animation team is on the beach in the mornings until about noon. They do not bug you to do stuff and they aren't too loud. From noon to 3:oopm, it's pretty quiet. From 3-6 animation is at the pool, and they can be loud during this time, but they are so hilarious! So if you want quiet during that time, you just move to the beach, no problem. The entertainment in the lobby at night (9:45) isn't grand, but it is what it is, entertainment. This is a great place to go for a great mix of relaxation and fun.

We met some other travellers, and they were so nice. I guess when you are staying in paradise and being treated like royalty made veryone happy.

I hated having to leave yesterday, and have to admit, I may have shed a tear or two. Oh, no point trying to bribe anyone to go back to Canada in your place, they won't budge.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Punta Cana Princess from March 6-13, 2008.

The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. The front desk staff were very helpful and the housekeepers kept our room amazingly clean, never a bug in sight. The beds were comfortable and the room was always nice and cool. The grounds of the hotel were always kept in beautiful condition.

We had full access to the sister resorts next door and you could either walk or take a golf cart. Those resorts were beaituful too and we also had access to the casino which was quite fun too.

The beach is breathtaking, absolutely spectacular. The ocean is so warm, we found it warmer than the pool. The weather was fantastic. I had checked the weather before we left Canada and was worried because it said partly couldy and showers everyday that we were supposed to be there. Well...partly cloudy meant the odd cloud here and there and "rain showers" lasted about 2 minutes and then the sun was out again. It was HOT HOT HOT. It was only about 31 celcius but felt like 40 when you were away from the beach and didn't get the lovely breeze off the ocean.

The service on the beach is great too, especially if you tip the server a dollar or two! He kept our drinks topped up all day :)

The food was ok, the buffet was good and the steakhouse was great. The seafood restaurant was alright, but was a little disappointed with the lobster.

The animation staff was great, always trying to get you involved in their activities but didn't pressure you. If you said no, they moved on to the next guest.

No children...ahhhh! Bliss! This is one of the best features of the resort!!!

The excursions were fantastic. We went on the ATV tour and snorkeling tour. Both half day excursions and they were well worth the money. Especially the ATV tour.

I highly recommend this resort for honeymoon or couples looking for a romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed at the PCP for the first two weeks in March and all I can say is that we'd go back again next month if we could! We've travelled extensively all over the Caribbean and have never experienced an all-inclusive and were somewhat apprehensive as to what we'd encounter even though most of the reviews we'd read were positive.
First of all, let me say that the hotel staff is the most hospitable, helpful, friendly and accomodating group of people we've ever met. From the moment we arrived (two hours ahead of check-in) until the minute we left it was very obvious that EVERY maid, bartender, waiter, waitress, groundskeeper, maintenance man, guest service representative, etc. had one goal in mind and that was to make sure their guests were satisfied; they did an outstanding job (even when often times faced with a language barrier!)!
The food was surprisingly good. Granted, it's not gourmet cuisine but the buffet strived to offer a large variety and the a la carte restaurants were a nice option. The salads and fruits were as fresh as could be and the desserts were amazing. We visited La Cava and Momma Mia's next door and would highly recommend both. Overall, out of the l4 days we were there we were only disappointed in maybe three of our meals (including breakfast and lunch). We never were hungry, we never got sick to our stomach and we never had to ask for a refill for whatever we were drinking; we enjoyed the service immensely!
The grounds at the PCP are beautiful and maintained to perfection. The beach is gorgeous, with just enough breeze to make you feel comfortable. The sun beds are awesome and a welcome relief from the chaises; we never had a problem with having to be the first one to the beach to get either - there were plenty for everyone (be careful with those chaises, though; a couple were broken and are probably still there!). If you enjoy walking, I would encourage you to go out on the beach to your left; when you get to the flea market the view is breathtaking and that stretch of beach is magnificent.
The rooms at the PCP are spotless, spacious and extremely comfortable. I especially liked the double sinks in the bathroom, as well as the outstanding water pressure. The towels were not the most plush but they were clean and plentiful. Our king-sized bed was super; my husband didn't snore for two weeks! We were also impressed that out mini fridge was replenished daily,
along with our coffee; again, the service was superb!
The entertainment, better known as the Animacion Team, was certainly not Broadway or even cruise quality. They provided a tremendous amount of fun, however, and encouraged everybody to participate, day or night. If you're looking for a lot of night life, I'd suggest checking out another resort or possibly going to the outside theater next door, the Casino or the Disco.
Make sure to experience a massage or two in the Spa or on the beach; you'll want to pack your masseuse in your suitcase! We couldn't believe it was possible to be that relaxed!!
Our vacation at PCP was truly one of the most enjoyable ones we've ever had; we met some really neat people from Canada, we had l4 days of perfect weather and the hotel was l00% to our satisfaction - who could ask for more?! !!
