we left for punta cana on 27th june for 14 nts. after arriving after no sleep we had probems with our room. firstly the ceiling fan was broken not a big problem but we wasted an afternoon waitin 4 a electrician 2 arrive. no luck so we ended up having to walk 2 reception. that got fixed. then we noticed we had no light switches they wernt connected. we forgot about these little problems untill afew days into the trip after a storm our roof started leaking on to our bed. we again rang reception and had 2 wait 4 some1 2 have a look and if they couldnt fix it we would be moved rooms. we had a meal booked for 9 that evening. we waited till 10 to 9 no1 turnt up so we went 4 our meal. in the end we moved rooms at 11.30 at night. the following day we arranged to do 2 manati park in a group. we knew we could purchuse tickets on the door. we waited 30 minutes for the bus. got on bus and a guy who worked for the park made us get off and buy the tickets off him. the driver then drove off without us all. we had to wait longer for him come back. and we found out we could buy tickets on the door after all. he just wanted his commission. we were very annoyed. the food on the complex was satisfactory apart from one lunchtime we were served raw chicken. we were disgusted by this and the manager appologised that was all. great pools. ok beach. nice resort but small problems added up. therefore wouldnt return to dr.

My 11 year old son and I spent a very relaxing week, the grounds, rooms and beach were well kept and people tried being helpful when approched. However I found that the variety in food at the buffet was not very good. Not to mention that there are so many people at the buffet at once that it is very easy to get forgotten by the staff. While the service and food at the restaurants was very good. The aquatic center was disappointing for the fact that if you don't know how to sail and want to go out on a hobbycat you will have to pay 30U$ for a lesson. Overall a relaxing trip, but don't think I would go back.

Me and my partner stayed at the caribe for one week, from the 18th of June. We really enjoyed ourselfs. The resort was amazing and had everything you needed to have am awesome time. This was our 2nd time to the DR. Last year we went up north to puerto plata! Punta Cana is 10 times better. The beaches are out of this world. The food was fine, lots to choose from. Just remember the food won't be the same as back home. I was really worried before we went because of some of the negative reviews. We had nothing to worry about as it was fab. The staff are lovely, their not rude at all, some people may have felt this because of the communication issues. Didn't really go in the pool as the beach was too beautiful, so we just chilled with cocktails lol. You we get people bugging you on the beach, just ignore them. You do get annoying. Also there was a lot of topless women on the beach which was fine if you don't get affended easily. Overall we had a fantastic trip. One week is a perfect amount of time. Do the parasailing and tube as it's so much fun. Have a great trip and make the most of it love christy & Richie

Pros- food surprisingly very very good. and I stress surprisingly.

-rooms were quite nice, very nice hard working maids

-the beach was fantastic, though the water was quite rough and near shore snorkling was a no-go. very warm water.

-pools were all really nice and very warm. Jose at the pool bar was a very nice kid and knew how to treat travellers with VIP attention.

-the resort is really quite beautiful. the walk from ocean to lobby was at most 5 minutes. overall very wheelchair accessible.

-staff really did treat you well overall

Cons- if I didnt see this with my own 2 eyes I wouldnt believe it. Or maybe Im just naive. Prostitutes were on the resort grounds looking for single male clients. I dont believe they harrassed any family men but still.

-the disco club is also a hooker haven. And they harrass the hell out of you. Maybe Im old fashioned but I was quite offended that such a great resort like this would allow such trash to walk its grounds and make people feel uncomfortable.

- they have a VIP program that before I left I looked into. Clients quoted prices of $70-$100 for a week. I was quoted $35/night, so $245. Another guy from the UK was quoted over $300. I dont know whether any shifty deals are going down but those number differences look quite suspicious. Id say the VIP orange bracelet is worth $150 a week at most. And thats if you are a strong drinker.

-the vendors really put a negative slimy feel on this hotel. they harrasss and intimidate almost everybody. Im a big guy and yet never scared I was quite pissed off at most of them. Their approach is "hey mister/mam where you from? and if you dare politely respond get ready to be bothered. Some people might like this but most I watched were trying to avoid these guys like the plague. Problem is is that the resort allows them to sell in areas that are most populated. The beach, the pool bar, the buffet. If not for these clowns I would rate this resort a solid 4.5. I cant understand why such a nice classy resort needs to have these guys sell crap and try to rip naive people off.
