“Ask for Hilda @ Guest Services or miss out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Arriving at the resort from the airport was chaotic because they do not allow you to take your bags with you from the drop off point to check-in at reception. They insist the bags remain curbside. This is problematic when you arrive before noon, (not dressed down for the Caribbean heat), and check-in isn't until 3pm. Once you have your room key, you then return to the curb and they set your luggage out to be delivered to your room. You are still not permitted to take it with you. It took over and hour for our bags to be delivered.

The staff at this resort speak very limited English. We booked our vacation through Sunwing and were assigned Sunwing representative Ana. We mistakenly assumed she would have a good understanding of English. There was no sign of her our first day, but we were given a time to meet her for the group info session the next morning. We attended and discovered the info session was 10% info and 90% sales pitch for "Sunwing approved Contractors". Her information was not only incomplete, it was also inaccurate. She discouraged us from doing our shopping at this resort, saying we'd save money on the shopping tours to San Juan. This was not true. There is no significant difference in price and the people in the shops at the resort were fantastic. It was clear our Sunwing rep had a motive for encouraging us to take the shopping tours. I was NOT impressed that we had wasted half a day of our vacation going to San Juan. We gave up on Ana after that.

Not until our third day did we encounter Hilda at Guest Services. She was truly a resource of information and all too happy to help in any way she could. Reception hadn't given us the VIP package for either of our two VIP rooms, so Hilda located them and explained the package in detail. If you speak only English like us, don't even waste your time trying to make dinner reservations with anyone else at this resort. Time and time again we missed out on a la cart reservations because the Concierge staff were not where they are supposed to be. I wasted entirely too much time trying to track them down between 8am and 3pm when they are supposed to be sitting in one of the two VIP areas.

I didn't enjoy the poolside vendors by the main pool. We found ourselves planning our movement so as to avoid encountering them. They did however speak better English than any of the Caribe Club staff, so they came in handy for directions when needed. We encountered a guy named Wilson who works for Royal and promotes the Princess resorts. He was wonderful and second only to Hilda as a valuable resource during our vacation.

When we booked at this resort, I hadn't understood that topless sunbathing was permitted...Note: it clearly is!

The entertainment at this resort was dismal and the pools closed at 7pm.

This section of beach was second to none in Bavaro and the certainly the best part of this resort. I think this resort would be perfect for a French or Spanish speaking couple who likes to do nothing more than drink and relax on the beach...it certainly was relaxing; I just wish I could speak one of the languages they understand.

Room Tip: Upgrade to VIP

So we finally decided to go on our belated honey moon.. and after reading hundreds of reviews on endless resorts here, we chose this resort to stay at.. & I tell you "The best decision ever"...
We stayed from April 24th to May 1st, 2013...

We flew with Sunwing.. no hitches whatsoever.. arrived an hour early into Punta Cana.. 30 minute drive from the airport to the resort...
We upgraded to VIP (Orange bands) and was worth every penny.. as part of the upgrade, we received a VIP expedited Check in at the guest services desk, ocean view room (room 2212) on the second floor (amazing view).. international unlimited drinks along with domestic, 5 a la carte reservations (Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Dominican & Brazilian) One free VIP a la carte dinner at the speciality restaurants (We used it at La Cava) fantastic food... usually costs $35 per person,
but you need to reserve your dinners very quick for the next 2 days to get seating... 20 minute message per person, one hour free internet per person at the lobby... 24 hour free room service.

We had the buffet dinner first night as we didnt have a reservation.. The food was very good (Huge variety of everything) and the buffet breakfast was a delight (everything you can ask for is there in the buffet)...

So we quickly got into the routine of hitting the beach in the morning.. white sandy beach and blue water with gentle waves... beach is very clean, and no sand flies at all... with bars all around...

Vendors would come up to sell you things (You can bargain and get good deals) but they are not pushy at all.. if you say no thank you they move on quickly...

and the afternoon we spent at the swim up bar... a big SHOUT OUT to our bartenders WALLY & LUNA.. they ware the most fun, most amazing bartenders ever... They had awesome music that just put you in a good mood... They kept an eye on our drinks and kept refilling quickly...
Other servers that were there as well who were great (Carlos, Gabriele, Roberto who made sure our pool was clean all day, & Mr. Rodizio)... What a great bunch of people..

we simply had a blast... We met a lot of people sitting at the bar, from all over the world, English, Americans, Canadians (from our Hometown), French, Russians.. You name it...

Room was very clean, they came in twice to clean our rooms (Morning and night turn down service).. the staff were very friendly.. we made sure we tipped both morning and night ladies... The service was impeccable... fresh towels twice a day, re-stocked mini bar twice a day... just superb service... and the ocean view with balcony was just a delight...

the snack bar (24 hours) was very good... a great thank you to Chef Franklyn (afternoon) & Omar (night time).. they took special care of us and made us especially made pizzas when we asked for it.. they didnt expect tip and said that they do this for service and not tip...

What can i say other than we were very impressed, and will definitely return to this hotel, and would recommend it to anybody who is travelling to Punta Cana...

Room Tip: We were room 2212.. an ocean view room that was very close to beach, restaurants and pools... Just t...

A group of seven stayed at Caribe Club Princess from April 19th to 26th. We booked a superior room and up graded to VIP which was well worth it. WE were in room 2105, ground floor, across from main pool with swim up bar. The location was perfect, the Buffett, pool and beach were so close. At the beach was a bar and a snack bar which had awesome chicken. Jose De La Pay was great...kept us laughing and the service was excellent. Had great fun with the animation crew were great especially minime and spaghetti. Candida at the lobby bar was a breath of fresh air. Frankie at the bar kept us entertained with his guggling and fire tricks. The shows were okay but I must say their costumes were outstanding! La Cava is a must do. Excellent food and service. For anyone with mobility issued this resort is great with everything so close and a trolley that runs every five minutes to transport you to the lobby. Took a cab into Town, did some shopping, ate at Ladelicious...great food, made a stop at Steve's Bar. I loved this resort and would gladly go back. Thanks to the wonderful staff who were friendly, hard working and so much fun. For those who wrote negative reviews you would no doubt find fault with heaven!!!

Room Tip: Coralilla rooms are super!

My friend and I spent some time researching resorts prior to choosing Caribe Club Princess, and I can honestly say, we chose very well! We could only get away for a 4 night stay, so we wanted to get as much sun and activities in as possible, and we succeeded! HIGHLY recommend spending the extra $40 for the "VIP package"! Who knew it would make such a difference to our experience? (staff recognized our orange wrist band and it speeded up the service!)... resort was a 30 min drive from the airport, and when we arrived, we were directed to "Hilda", our guest services manager (HUGE kudos to her by the way - what a pleasure!), who immediately took care of our accommodations, offered us a drink, and booked our restaurants ahead of time for us... our bell boys carried our luggage up the stairs for us, and our room had a view of the pool and a 5 min walk to the beach - perfect location, and not far from the restaurants and lobby... we also received 20 min massage as part of our package that we booked for the next day (again, highly recommend it!)... beautiful clean beaches to walk, markets to buy gifts on the beach (be prepared to do some serious bartering though, and if they are too aggressive, just say "no, gracias" and walk away!), banana boat rides, bike rides into town, water aerobics (so much fun!), great pool and swim up bar... I would have to say that the meals were probably the best we've had going down south... great restaurants and service (just make sure to book ahead or you won't get in)... both of us are vegetarian, and the Dominican restaurant accommodated us...nice restaurants to eat at on the beach, buffets offered a good selection of foods... overall, the customer service we received was outstanding in the a la carte restaurants...not all resorts are like this!... our room was clean, safe, showers were hot, bar fridge stocked..no complaints... not sure if tipping made the difference, but we left daily tips for our maid, dinners at restaurants, etc... as for entertainment, the shows were typical of the caribbean, not so great (!!), but the lobby bar was nice for a few drinks, and we had fun at the disco.. that said, the disco opened at 11pm, and only offered complimentary drinks until midnight (!!)... it was fun though... Casino onsite as well for those who like to gamble... being non-smokers, it was nice to see that the resort had smoking & non-smoking areas... our only tips would be to reguarly lather up on the sunscreen, especially if you're taking long walks on the beach - with the breeze from the ocean, you don't realize how quickly you can get sunburned (and we speak from experience!)...this is the first resort that we said "I want to go back"!... again, the VIP package is recommended... loved it!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the pool... this was also a 5 min walk to the beach, and 5-10 min walk to the re...

We took our 2 Grandaughters Because there was so much for kids to do. they are 12 and 14. the team is all students and most of the games were Adult and they spoke little or no English. my wife and I thought we could lie by the pool and relax but you are pestered every 5 Min by tour people and something called Royal . The food in the specialty Rest Mexican - I ordered Steak and could not even cut it next night we went to Italian my Grandaughters ordered Cannalonie and cut into it and it Cracked No Cooked my wife had spagettie Dish again not cooked. We had a third reservation and we did not go. Food was plain and repeditive at Buffett but average.
We were there on V I P good idea and worth the extra , Nice Room great Maid service except for 2 Days out maid was off . Grounds are very clean and they spend 2 Hrs every morning cleaning the pool.
Beach was good. Train service around the resort was very good and arrived often. If you have any problems go to the front Desk and at the client services is a young lady named HILDA don't forget that name she is the Best and then some. She is in my opinion the reason the resort is still operatingShe gets it solved PRONTO.
We go to Punta Cana every year and stay elsewhere and will return to our other place next year.

Room Tip: Go Vip for good choice of rooms

I recently stayed her for two weeks from 06/04/13-20/04/13. We booked the holiday for my boyfriends mothers birthday so it was supposed to be a nice relaxing well deserved holiday, there was 5 of us in total staying at the resort. My boyfriends parents and auntie traveled out before us on the 03/04/13 and when we arrived they told us they had had nothing but bother. They had already moved rooms with a bit of hassle as the reception staff weren't going to let them. Their first room we were told the paint was coming off the walls the room was dark and had no natural light about it at all. Their second room ended up being far worse. They had bed bugs and all three of them got bitten his father was the worse he counted over 100 bites just on one leg. One night they woke up after them feeling them crawling over them and seen them on the headboard. His auntie moved in with us because she couldn't take staying in that room, they ended up sleeping fully dressed and on top of the covers. As for our "rep" he was a nightmare he basically ripped us off for tours and we ended up getting one of the trips for more then half the price he was offering us. When I asked for the wifi password for to use as he said he could get us free wifi he said the server was down when there was other people using the wifi at that time. Other then the hotel being not very clean at all there was probably only 15 other British people on the resort who all felt the same way as we did. There is lots of German, French and Americans at this hotel the Americans where ok because they spoke English but the rest of the people had no manors what so ever. The entertainment team yeh they worked hard but after 10:30 that's was it there was nothing else to do at this resort, there was a disco as they called it but we never even went to it as we where told not to by another English couple. There was bird droppings around the pool and it stayed like that the whole time we were there. Another English couple we met one of them ended up in hospital for 3 days what cost them $3000 due to her having a sickness bug. One night it was karaoke and I was looking for a English song book they never had one for us so we couldn't choose a song. The only thing I did enjoy about this holiday was the beach it was amazing and out of this world clear blue water and white sands. We also went on a few trips they were well worth the money but I advise not to book them with a rep go down to the beach there is a man called Pedro he is very reasonable and you can haggle the price with him. The food was okay I'd say they catered again more for the French, German and Americans, we did visit two of the 4 restaurants on site. The Mexican one was amazing not a thing wrong with that but the Chinese wasn't nice at all it has actually put myself off Chinese all together it was far too greasy and oily.
And the airport was a living hell, on the plan we filled out immigration forms thinking that they were important then when we arrived we waiting in a very large que to pay our $10 to go in the country then joined another que to give them our form and the man behind the desk didn't even look at it he just took it and added it to a large pile. Coming home was the exact same they don't even look at the form what so ever you could pretty much write what ever you wanted on it as the don't check them. We waited 1hr and 45mins to go through security we only had 30 if your lucky in duty free. We paid $8 for two bottles of juice and there was a group of young natives who worked in the airport all male who where fighting with each other. I wouldn't go back to the Dominican in a hurry any time soon everyone is trying to just get money off you and I'd say any place in Europe you would get treated like royalty for paying the money we did to go on this holiday.

Room Tip: The rooms aren't good what so ever they aren't cleaned properly by the mades and if you neve...

We stayed at the Caribe Club Princess in Punta Cana April 6-13, 2013, WestJet Vacations VIP package which was definitely worth the extra money.
We had the time of our lives. We are 8 Canadian best friends that talked about a tropical vacation for years. I'm so glad we decided to come to the Caribe and we would go back in a heart beat. The beach is amazing, the weather was perfect the ocean was warm and so much fun to swim in, you could walk the beach for miles.
The staff at the resort are amazing. They work hard and put in long hours . It was brought to our attention If you are tipping with money and when possible its a good idea to give directly to the person you want to have it. We spent a lot on cash tips, it was so worth it and very much appreciated by staff.
Check in went smooth with no problems, thanks to staff member Emilio who helped us with our luggage & getting all us girls rounded up and settled into the right location and for making sure everything was ok. Staff in the main lobby bar are great, always happy to see us and the service was excellent. We would often jump on the little train that ran about every 10 minutes and head up to the main lobby in the evening for a drink and to lounge on the big comfy couches.
We stayed in rooms 2202, 03, 04 & 15. Our balcony looked over the main pool with swim up bar & we were able to view the ocean. The rooms are older but very clean and big hugs to the ladies that work so hard to look after our rooms. I didn't realize until the 3rd day that the ladies that clean the rooms during the day are not the same ones that turn down our beds at night and place lovely flowers on the bedding. So we made sure to leave the night time staff tips too.
The food really was amazing. The buffet restaurant has so many types of food to choose from. We had our regular table when we ate here and the staff who looked after us were awesome. A special thanks and big hugs to our favorite waiter Emilio who looked after us 8 Canadian ladies. Our VIP package came with 4 al- a-carte dinners. We loved the Mexican Restaurant, Italian & International. The Dominican restaurant was not my favorite.
We found this a great place to go and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: We were 2202, 03, 04 & 2215 on the 2nd floor. Our rooms faced the main pool with swim up bar whi...
