“Absolutely fabulous family time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

This was our first visit to Punta Cana(da) and our first stay at a Grand Palladium. What a treat for us!! Beautiful grounds, beautiful pool, beautiful beach, beautiful weather, but most of was the beautiful hospitality. The staff is so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Even for first timers we felt at home. We stayed in building 85 in loft rooms which were close to the pool and beach. We found the beds very comfy and Iris helped us stay clean and tidy :) We ate mainly at the buffets and kiosks on the beach and have nada a complaint. The food and service was very good. Loved the view of the turquoise water off the decks during our lunches. The spa was fabulous!! What a treat for me, especially because I travelled with an injured back. The animation staff was energetic and enthusiastic for those who wanted to participate! Good times!

Our complaints are minimal: we don't smoke so the lobbies at night--not for us (although the music was brilliant), trains between complexes were a bit of a wait (would not have cared as much if my back weren't bad, because I like to walk), couches in the rooms need more supportive cushions for sitting on.

Overall, very enjoyable vacation!! (PS my husband and teenaged boys enjoyed the trip on the Pirate ship and I highly recommend "Dr. Fish" Spa boat!!)

I went on a trip to the Dominican Republic for my cousin's wedding and this was my first time in a tropical destination on a resort with a large group of people. I have to say that they accomodated our 30+ group very well. For some of the dinners the group of us would try the Al le carte restaurants and they were able to seat all of us very comfortably. The place where they held the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was huge and had plenty of seating for us. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the people who worked at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Though I will say that not very many of them speak good english. They knew basic words and phrases but if you tried to be specific they wouldn't understand you as most of them speak either spanish or french. The beach was great as well but there were a lot of merchants trying to sell excursions. I know they have to make money but it was a bit frustrating at times because you would sit down to enjoy the sun and the view of the ocean and someone would pop out of nowhere and ask if you wanted to go para-sailing. It was very intrusive and made my brother and I not really want to go to the beach at times. Besides those 2 points however, I had a great time the resort was great

Room Tip: Villa 82 is close to the pool and to the beach. Try to get a room on the side that faces the ocean...

Went to GP in Punta Cana the week of Dec 16 2012. We booked this resort after an excellent experience at the GP Lady Hamilton in Jamaica. This resort is very large and spacious but does not measure up to the GP in Jamaica the level of service was just slightly under parr..
The resort is made up of the GP Punta Cana, the GP Palace, the GP Bavaro and the GP Royal Suites ( Time Share).
All three (non time share) resorts have rooms that are ocean view but only if you're lucky enough to get one. We stayed in the Palace section.
After talking to several other guests it is obvious that the Bavaro section is the better section to book as it is newer and the restaurants are nicer.
When we arrived they assigned us to a dingy little room with no view in the Punta Cana section. it took some persuading but we finally got moved to a nice room in the Palace section. All the staff were friendly and sincere with their service. We found that sometimes we thought we were invisible in some bars as the service was not very good but in other Bars and restaurants the service was great. The Spanish and Mexican restaurants were our favorites and the Japanese restaurant was quite entertaining.
I really liked the Occupied / Vacant signs on the tables in the buffet restaurants. Great idea!
Make sure you get a resort map at the check in counter and keep it with you. Look for short cuts otherwise you'll walk in circles.
If the Latin guitarist Arturo Fuerte is performing in the lobby bar be sure and take in his performance. His rendition of "Stairway to Heaven" was incredible.

Room Tip: be persistent if you are not happy with your room. We were told they don't encourage smoking in...

This was my first experience at the Grand Palladium, second trip to Punta Cana.
It is a fairly big site so you have to like to walk as the "train" doesn't run on a specific schedule.
Overall my stay was ok, but I wouldn't return to that specific resort.
The food was OK, but be careful at the lunch buffet where they make hamburgers, as the meat is often undercooked. The El Arricife buffet at the Bavaro is much nicer and has more selections than the El Bohio at the Palace. Waited over 2 hours to get a spot at the Steakhouse when initially they had told us 1 hour, and when we finally got seated there was MANY empty seats, not acceptable if you ask me. The Japanese is a must eat, especially if you can get the "show" table.
The beach is beautiful and the weather was great while I was there. But I preferred the resort I went to last year.

Room Tip: Palace rooms that start with 80 - 84 a very close to the beach, pool and lunch buffet. Fairly quiet...

We were at the Palace for the week March 2-9. This is the 5th year that my husband I have stayed at this resort. Friends ask us why we don't try somewhere else and our reply is that this resort has everything we want. Beautiful white sand beach, plenty of choice in restaurants and pools. But best of all are the people who work at the resort. The Dominican people are so happy and friendly. The last two years our oldest son and his family have accompanied us and the staff treated our grandchildren with such genuine affection.

Our room was in the 95 building - close to Willy's bar and pool (one of our favourite hangouts) and we had a view of the ocean from our balcony. Two minute walk to the beach.

The resort grounds are meticulously maintained. All of the public areas and washrooms are spotless.

Can't wait to return.

Thirteen times to the resort and it gets better every time. We visited Feb 27 to Mar 13 to celebrate my wife's birthday. Before our arrival I had contacted Mirpil, Guest Service Manager and our room had been decorated with balloons, towel art and flowers (pre-ordered) to celebrate the birthday. At dinner on my wife's birthday Mirpil had arranged flowers, champagne and a cake at LaChanterelle. Juan and the gang lowered the lights and brought the cake to the table while singing Happy Birthday. It was perfect and my wife was surprised and thrilled by the treatment she received.
We always stay in 8401 as it is close to the pool, beach and El Bohio restaurant. The weather was great and the people are fantastico. We did our own excursions by going to Playa Macao with Janiel and his Mama, Patricia, David, Beatriz and Odil. Sorry Mirpil we will take you with us in December. We had the pleasure of going to Delvin Decosta's home for dinner one night and the san cocho was amazing. His baby and wife are two very beautiful ladies. Delvin toured us around Higuey and we had a chance to visit with Fernelis' family - Jacqueline, Edna and Edgar. We went to the "car wash" twice with William, Rene, Janiel, Roberto and Franklin. If you don't know what a Dominican car wash is check it out online and then visit one. These are not just employees of the hotel they are our family. They work hard and are wonderful people. The boys at the pool, Alejandro, Ricardo, Pater and Norkey always put a smile on your face and work hard to ensure the pool is kept clean. There are so many muy bueno personas at this resort like mi hermanos, Nunez & Fernelis, our daughters Caridad, Ginette, Ana Esther, Maribel, Patricia, Mirpil, our sons William, Rene, Janiel, Delvin, Odil and so many others. That's why return time and time again.
We never have problem with the hotel employees but rather some of the tourists are extremely rude to the point of being ignorant. I won't mention nationalities because it isn't far to blame an entire country for the action of a few.
The grounds are immaculate and always being maintained. There are trains/ limo style trams to take you around the resort. If you prefer to walk then you can stroll down the paths or roads to anywhere on the resort.
The food is awesome and always plentiful. Omelets made to order, pasta prepared to your taste, your choice of fresh meat at cooking stations at all buffets, fruits, salads etc, etc.
The resort is fantastico as are the people. If you need assistance they are there to help.
Take your time, relax, see the sights and meet the people. Trip number 14 is already booked for November 29 and the countdown is on. Hasta 29 de noviembre mi familia amor papa y mama.

This was our fifth time at the Grand Palladium Palace. We look forward every year to go there. The people are very friendly and they go out of their way to help you. Fernells is always at the desk to greet us when we get there. When he sees us he always has a big smile and a hug for us. The rooms are very clean and close to everything. We go to the buffets because the food is good and you can always find something there that you like. The staff are also great there. After going there 5 times they get to know you as well. Very friendly. The beach is great. The weather is great. The people are great. Everything is great. It must be if we keep going back. Can't wait until next year.

Room Tip: We stayed by the pool and by the ocean. We loved all locations.
