After all the research I did I finally settled for Vik Arena & am very glad I did. It is well located & the beach is really nice. Staff are very friendly & take good care of you. Ask if they have any rooms in building #5 which is close to the beach. Speak to Obama at check in if possible. Great experience overall.
Buffet was good
Nightly shows were fun & entertaining ( Dream Circus was awesome!!!)
Lunch meals were very good
Drinks were plentyful and rarely waited to be served
Careful if you go out of the resort
Spa was very good. Try the aroma therapy massage!!
Gym was simple but use it if you can
Beach was the true element of VIK to be recognized over
Watersports are plentyful...try one!!!
Negotiate when it comes to purchasing items/ they always mark up at exhagerated pricings!!!
Do visit the Casinos & Disco Areito!!
Take a taxi cab as much as possible/ caution with the mini taxi's (scooters) /negotiate your trip with them...they take advantage if you are not aware...
Tip the waiters and bartenders & they will never let you down whatsoever.
Check out early on day of departure
Small portions of food are recommended and drink lots of pina coladas & blue lagoons!!
Have fun!!!!!!!!! Hola Amigos!!

First of all let me say that if you travel to Punta Cana and need round-trip transfers from the airport, contact Mandy @ Conexion Tours. They were absolutely great! No worry about having transportation when you arrive. The driver is there with a sign that has your name so you're not wandering around trying to figure out where to go. Beware of the cabbies at the airport though, they will drive you crazy. I would highly suggest that you arrange transfers before your departure. We paid $80. for round trip transfers for 3.

Ok, so on to the resort-- Check in was quick and staff was very friendly but speak little English. The gardens are very nice and very well maintained. No air conditioning anywhere but in your room and the shops. Our room was in a good location (block 2) but really needed updating. It was clean though. The air conditioning barely cools but if you keep the ceiling fan going, it's ok. Bring your on washcloths as they do not have any. If you don't let the cleaning staff in to clean, you can forget getting any fresh towels. Bring all of your own toiletries. They provide a shampoo/conditioner combo and thats it. The shower had great water pressure.
Pool area is nice and very large but the bottom of the pool is cement and is in need of repairs. It was dirty at times, but served the purpose. Only drawback is that there is no swimup bar. You have to go the bar hut located near the pool area for drinks. The locals apparently are allowed to come in on the weekend and take over the pool. They were also very pushy and rude when trying to get drinks and food. Luckily they are only there on the weekend.
The buffet restaurants basically serve the same food everyday so it gets tiresome after a few days. It depends on your taste in food as to whether or not you like alot of the food. I'm not one that tries alot of different cuisines but there was something for everyone. At breakfast they have an omelette station which was good. Dinner, there was goat, squid and different types of fish. Nothing I would try. However, during the day there was a pizza station which was absolutely great! It also had hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries. The buffets were also available.
Twice a week they allow venders to set up on the walkways and they will drive you crazy. BEWARE== do not buy the coconut hats, bowls that is being made and sold because when you get to customs they go to trash. Beautiful artistic work but unfortunately you can't take them with you. Just take pictures. We didn't have any trouble with timeshare salespeople but with any of them if you just say no and keep going they will leave you alone. There is a market a short walk on the beach and it is worse there with the vendors. You can't even look without them trying to sell you sometthing. No cheap prices unless you waste ALOT of time haggling. Take plenty of small bills.
The beach was priceless. It was absolutely gorgeous!!! Many activities available on the beach. This was our first trip to Punta Cana and we will definitely return but will try a different resort. We really can't complain too much because we got a really good price for the resort.

ok i will try and make this quick . let me start with the positives
1. The grounds are beautiful with all the coconut trees and palms and looks even better at night. looks like a carribean hotel not a new same as all the other types.
2.The beach is fantastic and great reef areas for snorkelling
3.Snorkel gear free use for 1 hour per day and body boards and kayaks
4. The pools are massive and look great.
5.the place was empty

ok now the not so positive
1.if you book from the airtours brochure as we did the hotel and pool pictured is not the vik arena but the private cayena beach club next door.it has a lovely pool and posh loungers etc but you cannot use them .But members there can use all the viks amenities..
2.the pools may look good but they are pitted and this roughens up and cuts the bottoms of your feet and toes
i have been at vik for last 2 weeks of june and the hotel was empty until the weekends when the locals invade .they stay at the hotel and take over with no regards for others even dive bombing near young children and the manager just says oh well they go home in 2 days!!!! not good enough
3.the food is okay for 3 days then it all starts to look a bit samey. who eats hot pork and potatoes etc for breakfast in 90 degree heat. also most is not cooked fully. i had a major problem when 1 pair of tongs was being used to pick up raw chicken/raw pork and salad.no wonder we were having stomach problems for most of the holiday as were most other people we spoke to. i dont think hygiene and kitchen basics are high on thier list.
4.if you get block 2 room 2109 ask to be moved. it was comfortable enough(okay pillows a bit ropey) and i have to say very clean indeed.the shower was very powerful but hot came from cold tap and vice versa so careful not to get scalded on arrival.air con not to bad and fans are supposed to wobble! the problem comes when you want to sleep. every time the disco doors open you get one hell of a blast and this goes on until 2 am
5.as mentioned earlier the vic is tied with the cayena club who have opperatives on the land asking if they can show you around just say i have allredy looked and they dont bother you.

all in all the place itself was beautiful and if you like peace and quiet you will get it here (accept for weekends) the beach is 8 mile so walking a must .there are plenty of watersports but you will need cash . have a good look at the food and if unsure Dont Eat It. we found the staff pleaseant enough and why should they speak english and not us speak spanish!!!! But you could pay the same money for a real 4 star hotel not this old has been maybe a 3 star at a push

This is the first review I have written because I would like to give others an open an honest account of this hotel. First the positives 1. the location on the stunning beach is first class. 2. most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. 3. the gardens were very well kept and pretty. The negatives 1. no air conditioning in the restaurants or bars which resulted in very uncomfortable and humid conditions. 2. staff constantly asking you to sign up for a timeshare. 3. bedrooms old and in need of updating. 4. locals accessing hotel at weekends who were loud, inconsiderate and rude. 5.day time entertainment very loud. We felt that this hotel is more a 3* than a 4*. The hotel next door (ocean blue) is also a 4* and it's facitilities are far, far better that the arena blanca. Friends of ours stayed there, same time as our holiday and payed the same as us!! Please think before you book this hotel.

just looked at some of the reviews. Well all i can say is american people must expect such a very high standard. We have just come back from spending a week in this resort and i can say we had a excellant time we found the staff really friendly, as for the water, the fridge in your room has bottle water, coke and sprite put in it daily. The entertainers work very hard all day and evening so why shouldnt they go home at midnight when they have to back ready to start again the next morning! we found the rooms very comfortable and clean with the bedding changed reguarly and yes you d only get 2 bath towels, which are changed daily, how many do you need. The towels they provide by the pool were always clean. We didnt find any dirty sun loungers in fact each day some were taken away to be cleaned. We used the toilets all over the complex and i can say i never found 1 to be out of order. As for the food you could eat all day if you so wanted one of my children is very fussy but i can assure you he did not starve. The one and only negative thing i can say is at the weekend the local people get a cheap deal and from friday to sunday they over took a bit and were quite greedy but there was still food for us
