“Good Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

The rooms of the hotel were clean and the resort itself was clean. The food on the resort was good. However, the Italian restaurant was not good at all! The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. The disco was good and the evening shows were fantastic. Overall, had a great time. I would stay there again.

It is ok for the people travaling on a budget. Rooms were ok. We moved hotels. It was notwwhat we thought it was going to be. Hard rock was much better. You have to make reservations for food. Plus if you wanted lobster it wad a extra fee. Does not sound all inclusive to me

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your review with other travelers.

We are really surprised by your review and we regret that we didn’t fulfill your expectations.

I may clarify some of your doubts about the hotel:

Lobster is not included, but you can buy it at one of our a la carte restaurants. These can be reserved on a daily basis.

We require reservations for our a la carte restaurants because is the best way to assure a pleasant dinner and excellent service to our guests where we take our time to fulfill every client’s demands.

We understand that our hotel is a solid four star hotel with an excellent price-quality relation. All the services that we offer are clearly specified in our promotion and we understand that we comply with what we offer.

We have daily surveys with positive results and we receive a lot of comments and congratulations as well. This makes us look forward for different ways to improve service and provide unforgettable memories.

Of course you can find a lot of 5 Star hotels that can provide you a higher level of luxury and/or more services, but clearly at a considerably higher price range. Likewise, we understand that some people may have different expectations; however this shouldn’t detract our hotel.

Thank you again for your comments, we hope we could clear up all the doubts you had and we reiterate at your disposition if you decide to come visit us again.

Regards,

my husband and I just returned from a 7 day stay at the IFA Villas Bavaro. This was our third time to the D.R. and this was the best resort so far. Everything was clean, neat and well-maintained. Staff were out every morning cleaning the outdoor areas and near the pool. Many of my comments are similar to those of prior reviews.
We opted for the upgraded room and we were glad we did. We were in the 3500 block, steps away from the main pool. it was convenient and quite a nice room. Our air conditioner leaked, but as soon as we complained it was fixed. There was plenty of hot water.
Initially, we were concerned that because of the closeness to the pool it would be noisy, but it wasn't. Once we closed the door and the windows, it was quiet. Unfortunately, the mattress was extremely firm.
The food in the buffet was not the greatest, as others have stated in their reviews. I did enjoy the eggs cooked to order, at times it was the best meal of the day. We also ate at Caribe, the international restaurant, and it was good. We also ate at the asian restaurant and the mexican restaurant and they were not as good.
The beach was nice, with lots of palm trees. there was a LOT of seaweed on the beach, but it was still very nice. The restaurant right at the beach was very convenient for lunch and drinks.
The other visitors were mainly germans and russians. We saw few other english-speakers. This didn't bother us, but it may bother others.
All in all, this is a well-run resort, clean, well maintained and clearly updated regularly. This was a good vacation, and a good travel value.

Room Tip: 3500 block was close to pool, pizza restaurant and swim up bar. WE had a corner room which was very...

Wife and I stayed at IFA in September. Check in was fast. Room 4109 was great, close to beach and theater.Little loud at night from the "thumping bass" from the theater but was usually down at the show anyway so it didnt really bother us.
Room: Clean, Never ran out of hot water, No wash cloths.
Beach: Some seaweed, Cleaned up each morning. BEAUTIFUL. Had to walk like 2 minutes for food or drinks.
Food: Just OK, Could always find something to eat. Pizza by the pool was awesome!
Drinks: Boheima beer, NO PRESIDENTE :(
Staff, Very friendly, We do not speak english but NEVER had any problems with communicating with wait staff or bartenders.
Pools: 3 pools, 1 with a swim up bar. Fun during the day if you wanted to get away from the beach for awhile.
Had such a good time at IFA , We justed book again leaving out of Cincinnati on June 8th and this time we are taking our 14 year old daughter.

I booked this resort for a nice week-long getaway for the wife and I. We badly needed some time away to relax and soak up some sun. I will seperate my review into the pros and cons.

Pros: The resort, as most of the ones I saw are gated, so at least it somewhat restricts access to individuals who are staying on the resort. Check-in for us was faster than I thought reading some of the other reviews. But on other nights, when we walked through the lobby I did notice long lines. The beaches are amazing! There is plenty of shade if you want to get out of the sun, and rest under a palm tree. Also there is plenty of area to get all of the sun possible. The sand is nice and the water is clear. There is some seaweed, but neither of us found it to be a problem. The two large pools are nice! One has the bar in the pool and the other is lagoon style that had a lot more shade. The lagoon pool had a bar overlooking the pool, so getting drinks was somewhat easy. Overall, the resort itself and the beach area was simply beautiful. The Cafe' Dominican was a great place to relax, have a drink, and maybe play a game. The Cafe' offered the best drinks and had comfortable places to sit. Also it is a great place to wait out any rain storms that come blowing through.

Cons: In our opinion the food was outright horrible. I am not even close to a picky eater, and can normally always find something to eat. Many nights I had to resort to eating fries because nothing was good. It is sad to say that our best meal was when we went to Pizza Hut while shopping. Next, the beds were terrible. I expected some padding, maybe even an egg-crate pad on top, but there was nothing. You could almost lay the comforter on the floor and it be just as soft. In our unit we did not have a problem, but I feel that I should note that SEVERAL guests we spoke to had a severe ant problem in their rooms. I think that this was related to the area of the resort your were located. Many people stated in the reviews that the pizza was great, in my opinion it was only tolerable. Only reason i would eat it would be because I was hungry since the food offerered during lunch and dinner was horrible.

I would only recommend this resort if you are not looking to rest and have a good meal. Maybe my "American" taste buds didn't like the food, but it wasn't even close to being what I expected. While on vacation I like to rest, relax, and have great food. With the beds being bad, and the food even worse I did not get what I wanted out of this vacation. I do know the vacation package to this resort was cheap, but maybe I was naive to think i was going to get a better value.

This resort is a nice resort for a budget trip. If you are looking for a personal butler to follow you around this is not the resort. However if you are wanting a resort that has pretty landscaping and a very large and well maintained beach area this is the place.

The rooms are a little dated but I was there for the beach and the pool areas. I would recommend upgrading to the village or the ocean section from the Villas area. The only problem with the Villas area is the distance from the beach and main pool and buffett.

The beach area is great at the time I was there had plenty of loungers available. I was there from Oct 19, 2012 to Oct. 26, 2012.

The only real downfall of the resort is the food. The food in the buffett is not very good but you can find things to eat. We did eat at the Italian restraunt and the mexican restraunt and they are both very good.

Overall I would go back to this resort for the size of the resort.

Room Tip: upgrade to the village or the ocean sections, also we stayed in the 3300 building by the pizza bar...

First time to the caribbean ( 10h flight from Brussels ).and we will certainly go back. The dominican republic is really haven on earth ( if you like sun, sea, palm trees, ... ) . the IFA hotels fits perfectly in this picture. A nice clean hotel ( although eating, drinking and smoking in the swimming pool is something we are not used to in Belgium ) , big clean room ( we payed a little extra for the "superior room" ), very nice beach, palm trees as far as you can see :-). For the room, the service, the accomodation i would say the hotel almost deserves a 5* ranking. Only thing that is not worty of 5* is the food. The buffets are more than ok, but "casual". The
"à la carte" restaurants are worth visiting. certainly the "caribbean restaurant". It is the only place where you can eat in a airconditionned atmosphere. We went in the worst period of the year ( hurricanes, storms, rain .... ) but we had fantasctic weather. 3 minutes rain during our 12 day stay. The risc of bad weather made it a very cheap holiday. Price-quality it was the best holiday i ever had.
