“Friendly staff ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Stayed from December 12-19. Upon arriving our room only had a double bed. Paid for 2 double beds. How do they expect 4 people to sleep in 1 bed. Thanks to our concierge yaxson after about 30 min he was able to find us a double room. Room was very outdated. Shower faucet was hanging from the wall. Lights burned out. Patio door lock broken. The pools and the garden areas are beautiful. Food was ok and the staff are very friendly. Don't get suckered into the special a la cart breakfast and gift from the concierge. He said it will only be 90min long. A rep from the VIP club met us at breakfast and tried repeatedly to sell us a VIP only membership. After he wasted our time and took away Waterpark time for the kids he wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally after 2hr we walked out on him. He was very pushy and made it sound like if you don't become a VIP then you won't get the same service. Oh well we made the best of our trip and had a wonderful time but we will not stay there again

My wife and I stayed for seven days over the Christmas holidays. All the staff were very nice. The grounds, pools and beach were great! Drinks were good... my wife and I got our money's worth a couple nights. In fact my liver still hurts lol.

The rooms however were not nice at all. Our room had a strong mold smell and the sheet and pillows smelt the same.My wife has washed our clothes several times since we got back and our clothing still smell bad.The bathtub didn't drain well, so u had to stand in your own dirty water. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you aren't picky with smells ext.

If you do end up going Salsarine, Giovanny and Wilson at the lobby bar will take good care of you. And another thing, learn a bit of Spanish if you are going here. It goes a long way. Don't be an ignorant first world d bag!

Cheers

Many reviews are very negative about Sirenis Tropical Suites, it wasn't fabulous but it wasn't terrible.
Staff - Very friendly and kind staff. The people make this place, it didn't matter what the issue they were pleasant and focused on resolving issues. The Air Transat reps were two of the best I have met at any resort. Very helpful, welcoming people.
Grounds - lovely mature landscaping that is stunning, the beach is wonderful, lots of room, lots of chairs. One negative, the tile walkways are treacherous when wet.
Rooms - the rooms are renovated however still run down with older electrical plugs, air conditioning systems etc. We arrived at a busy time and the cleaning staff were not very thorough but by no means were the rooms dirty. The sliding doors had no outside handle and locked automatically if you closed them - not great if you get stuck on your balcony.
Equipment - Unfortunately the same as with many resorts that aren't 5 star, much of the sporting equipment was either missing or broken. The entertainment staff always had something on the go.
Food - The food was good. The Vegetarian A La Carte was quite incredible, even the meat lovers of our group agreed it was the best restaurant. The buffets had great variety and there was always something available at the snack bars.
Cash - Cash deposits are required for the use of most equipment. $50 cash deposit for the safe, and for the use of ping pong, pool table equip., snorkles etc. A good to know when determining how much cash to bring.
The waterpark - absolutely excellent, lovely pool, drink and food set up, it was great.
If you aren't expecting modern luxury then Sirenis is wonderful, comfortable, not too big and very friendly staff.

The place amazing, clean, amazing braches.

The pros: staff very friendly, food ok, loads of activities, beaches and ocean marvelous.
The cons: 5 star hotel and does not have a shuttle hus, and nowhere to go, everytime you leave hotel is usd 40 in a taxi one way. Another adversity is the qifi, Usd 50. / week and ONLY WORKS IN THE LOBBY¡

Room Tip: Choose full package, beware of cab drivers, the cheapest is usd 30, no wifi on your device.

We stayed at the Sirenis Tropical Suites Dec 16 - Dec 23 and spent Dec 24 in the airport because of the ice storm in Toronto. The hotel was okay. The grounds were beautiful and immaculately kept. The food was fine - not quite enough fried banana or plantain for my taste (but that is a very petty complaint). The displays of food in the a la cartes were magnificent, the fruit and vegetable sculptures especially. But that having been said, we didn't appreciate the food as much as we could have in the beginning of the week because one of our party picked up the Norwalk virus and shared it with the rest of us.

Our kids had lots of fun in the pools, especially playing on the pedestal that the mermaid sat on in the middle of the deep pool. Our 10 & 12 didn't use the kids club, so I can't comment on it - but the kids club put on a performance everynight that we droppped in to see occasionally.
They had a circus acrobat show one night after the kids club performance; it was very entertaining.

There was dancing at the beach which preceded the surf aerobics. Both were tons of fun and I picked up a bit of both German/French/Spanish and Russian (counting to four, anyway) as there were many, many Europeans there . . .

We enjoyed many afternoons at the water park. They wouldn't let us wear our swim shirts, but other people were allowed to wear them - so we went in the late afternoon to reduce the incidence of sunburn. My kids tried all of the slides, I wasn't as daring. They really enjoyed the yellow tube slide and the red enema/wedgie slide - the sharp drop on the same side as the toboggan slides. The kids banged their heads backs and heels and then dropped into the pool head first on the toilet bowl slide - be wary. The toboggan slide was great fun. There are a couple of special toboggans to use if you wish to glide all the way to the end (blue handled toboggans). With great skill I managed to bump the very end twice - once you try the slide you will see that it is truly a great feat!!!! With the other toboggans you might be lucky enough to slide all the way into the end yellow stripe - I did, once.

Our maid/housekeeper was excellent - I looked forward everyday to seeing what designs she would make with our linen. It was a really nice touch.

For the price we paid we got a great deal.

Room Tip: We stayed in B block which was far from the beach and pools, but close to the food/restaurants and a...

Have just returned from 10 days Thomson tour to Sirenis Cocotal with wife son and his girlfriend. Excellent flight out on Dreamliner aircraft good transfers to resort. Had lovely relaxing stay, rooms could be abit more modern but no real complaints, all garden areas pool and beack kept really clean by an army of staff. We were at an advantage as have a good knowledge of Spanish, staff exceedingly friendly, small issue with leak in one room but resolved. Excellent one day sea tour fabulous outing. Food very good and enjoyed four of the speciality restaurants. Cannot understand why we British have to moan, at no times saw any drunkeness or bad behaviour. Would go back again no problem, keep most of the Brits away.

Room Tip: We had rooms near the pool area so short walk to beach.

Arrived on 13th december, Brand new road leading to hotel, xmas lights everywhere, looked great! We were greeted with a smile & a nice cold drink at reception. The reception staff were happy and processed the paperwork in no time. Our room was on the tropical side h103 &105.
We had upstairs rooms as i personally feel happier in a tropical country as the bugs have further to climb. Saying that we never saw any "nasties" in our block. Room was great. We had in each room, 2 double beds, large wardrobe complete with mini ironing board and iron, safe ($3.00 per night plus $50.00 deposit-refunded on checkout) flatscreen tv, air con & ceiling fan.. also we had a "living room" which consisted of, table, chairs, lounger , second tv,fridge and coffee percolator. Bathroom was spacious with plenty of towels and hairdrier. Yes there are rooms that need updating, you have to accept it in all large hotels, if you not happy with the room simply ask to be moved,we found everyone helpful and friendly, Grammy the thomson rep, well let's just say he's a true gentleman, goes well out of his way to help you a real pleasure to be with, i spent a few hours with him every day (my choice) he is sooo informative just keep telling him to smile!
The food as in all-inclusive restaurants repeats,i must say it's well cooked served hot and with plenty to choose from, you can always find something good to eat, We thought the food was better this time than last,
You are allowed 2 stays per week in the a la carte restaurants as part of the all inclusive, as we were return guests we were given extra a la carte meals. We ate at the steakhouse to which was of excellent quality highly recommend, the mexican was nice but not as spicy as i would have expected. the vegetarian-well i'm a meat eater so didn't really look forward to it, Boy was i wrong. we had a tall vegetable pie with brie sauce, it was to die for!!!!!! The italian i love italian food, my expectations were high , must be honest i was a little let down. Saved the best for last.
THE JADE,OMG-----Words fail me, it's asian (chinese) well they put on a show for you, not going to tell what they do as it will spoil it, just to say it was the only one we went to twice.
Yes timeshare or "holiday club" has hit this hotel, just tell them a polite NO about 3 or 4 times on your first day (yeah) if you are not interested, they will then leave you alone for the rest of your holiday.
Pools are massive, deep, shallow & even a whirlpool one behind the steakhouse, no problem with sunloungers as most people were on the beach..
They now have a new waterpark as part of the all inclusive, 'i'ts only a couple of minutes walk out of reception, they have speed slides tube slides pool , great fun, also is all inclusive, food drink even towels, don't forget your towel card.
Did 3 trips with Grammy, yes you can get them cheaper . it's just i prefer trips with a small group of people (thats what thomson do) so you can enjoy it better, we went to saona island, hey we were the only boat there, fabulous. also did swimmimg with dolphins, yes we got exactly what grammy said , absolutly awesome, also the zip line in the canopy---incredible.
In conclusion it's our second visit to this hotel. extremly friendly staff, great food, excellent rooms, lovely pools and a new waterpark.
Thank you Veronique for making this one of our best holidays.

Room Tip: Each have own reasons for high / low rooms, all i say is if your not happy tell the reception , they...
