“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

My wife and I spent 6 days at the resort from Dec 1 to Dec 6 2013. Overall we had a great time. The resort is clean and the staff works really hard to upkeep the place and cater to the guests. As stated in previous reviews, the resort was plumb filled with Russian guests and a speckle of other europeans and a hand full of Americans. As part of the great deal we received to stay at the resort, we attended the timeshare presentation. It was actually quite painless and not pushy at all. The room was a little dated in terms of the furniture, however it was very clean and tended to twice a day. We enjoyed the buffet restaurants as well as the a la carte restaurants with the Japanese being the best. There are plenty of bar around the resort willing to serve you the drink of your choice all day. My wife fell in love with Baileys on ice! The beach seem to always be crowded, there is literally no room to add additional beach chairs. The Aquagames park is the highlight of the resort...a definite must do while staying there. I definitely recommend giving the resort a shot if the price is right.

The hotel is very nice and the animation team very good. Food is good abit repetitive but by going to the ala carte restaurants you can get some variety. Being so close to the beach is great. Only annoying thing was paying for the safe which when staying for 3 weeks is abit of an expense. Go on some trips to see the island as the Dominican Republic is lovely as are the people and staff.

We visited the resort from 3/12 to 13/12. There was three of us aged between 28-33. Good points: 1. the resort grounds is very nice especially at night when all the Christmas lights were put up, 2. the staff are very pleasant and friendly, there is always adequate staffing around the resort at all times. Bad points (for improvement): 1. the resort has two sides which we did not know until we got there, Cocotal and Tropical, the rooms on the Cocotal side really let's the resort down, the rooms smell of damp, there's mould around the bathroom and the DIY work done to some of them are of a very poor quality, we took the sheets off our bed and the state of the mattress and base was cringing. Beware if you suffer from asthma or any skin condition. We had a room on this side of the hotel and this ruined the first three days of our holiday, although after complaining on several occasions we were given a room on the Tropical side which although are still basic but are pleasant which is nothing more or less than what you'd expect. 2. Too many persistent sales people and I got annoyed at how many times I had to say "no thank you". 3. The plug sockets often sparked. 4. Flies and birds on and around the food. 5. The music in the resort was often quite depressing, you need more uplifting music that doesn't put people to sleep. The resort felt like it catered more for their European clients rather than being a Carribean resort and just allowing the customers to embrace the culture. It was an experience I do not regret but I would not personally go back and if I were to recommend it I would say go with a very open mind and only if it's really cheap and for no more than 7 days.

If you get this resort for less than $500 inclusive, go but even then make sure to pack a lot of pepto-bismo.
We were group of 28 ppl, families and only 1 person did not get sick. One of the teens ended up in the hospital for 2 days. Must be the water they are using to wash salads and mix drinks.
The management behaved arrogant, treating you as they were hosting you free at their resort.
Food was very repetitive, no variety at all. If you want to get a normal scotch, rye, or vodka, had to pay and even so the Jack Daniels we bought was not tasting like real one.
The only good part was the beach and pools were ok.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms around the pool. All building are well planned and built so you don't have to worry...

We will be staying at the sirenis tropical for our second time on december 30th 2013.Firts time was great.Animation, food, premises etc. A bit far from the airport but worth it. the beach fabulous. The shack on the beach for chicken, burgers, hot dogs porc chops drinks etc is great. staff is very friendly . Yes we had to pay for iron and safe but big deal. The deposit was returned no problem.
We asked for renovated rooms on our return so we will see...

The hotel grounds were amazing. The pools some of the cleanest ever seen before (compared to cuba and Honduras) even with so many Russians who usually litter in them. The pool cleaners worked tirelessly to keep them spotless. Beach very nice, again quite a bit of cigarette butts and garbage at times but again mostly due to Russians or Germans just not respecting the surroundings. The "updated" rooms are far from updated, quite a bit of mold in the bathrooms, beds were good and bedroom was clean. The hotel needs to shut its doors and put in some serious money to run with the big hotels now in punta cana. Hotel for food and grounds 5* but bedrooms are more along lines of a 3* at best. BUT the atmosphere, staff, food and entertainment make up for the rooms. We went with our two young boys and older parents and loved the resort. Yomaris at the pool restaurant is a gem... I would have her work for me anyday. Ana at the buffet was a doll and would always have our seat ready. Our cleaning ladies did a fantastic job especially with all the sand the boys brought back :) The entertainment staff especially Tony are simply amazing what an amazing job! Bar tenders especially Eziquiel were all great. Food... Where so O begin... Japanese AMAZING andreus was awesome as our chef what a class act... The steak restaurant amazing. Italian nice but nothing too special but food was still good. Plenty at the buffet... Carrots and mashed potatoes amazing. I really loved everything i would just recommend the hotel close one block at a time and RENOVATE not JUST paint... I mean everything, fridge, couch, baths etc. would i return? Tomorrow :) did we have fun absolutely! If bedrooms dont bother you this is the resort for you. Oh and the casino... 3 tables and about 18 slot machines... Good fun, my mom won 180$ one night and just shy of 150$ the next :) also take some picture of the peacocks they were gorgeous!
