“Very bad hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Bad service. The staff feel anoyed when ask a question. No help when we get to the buffet. The staff are not honest, they try to steal at the lobby. They try to push you to buy the time share all the time. We see rats at the lobby and close to the buffet. A/c and the bar at the room didn t work and one night it rains and the room was flooded....NEVER GO AGAIN..!!

Let me start by saying that this is a very relaxed layback “family style resort”. If you are looking for the high pace “nigh life” with clubs and lots of activities then this is not your kind of place. My wife and I were looking for a “Family” style resort and this worked out perfect for us. My 21 year old daughter and 16-year-old son enjoyed the resort. We stayed from August 4th through August 10 , 2013.

As an option if you want to go to a nightclub you can take the free shuttle service that Club ORO in the Hard Rock offers. You can book this in the front lobby of the Sirenis Resort just look for the billboard.

The staff here is friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. The housekeeping was excellent providing us with everything we needed in a timely manner. The beach was beautiful with a very relaxing atmosphere. The food served at the beach BB-Q was great. They served your typical BB-Q foods such as burgers, chicken, pork chops, stakes and a variety of grilled vegetables like potatoes, zucchini, carrots etc.
You also have the choice to eat at any of the two main buffets or restaurants. The food at the buffet was good and the service fair. As for the restaurants I recommend the JADE and the Stake House. As for the water drink all you like; the resort has an excellent water purification system. Just don’t’ drink the tap water in your room, that water is not purified. Your room has a mini bar that is always stocked with two large bottle waters, coke, sprite, orange fanta and beer.

I do recommend the “BUGGIE Excursion, it is a great opportunity to see the country side. Remember to take your sunglasses and scarf to protect you from the dust. Overall I give this resort three and a half stars it is clean with good food, drinks and friendly staff.

P.S. I recommend you take a TAXI from Punta Cana Airport to the resort. It will cost you $70.00 US dollars and you will get there quicker than the “SHUTTLE” service. If you take the Shuttle it stops too many time in other resorts. The ride in a TAXI from the airport to the resort is one hour and 15 minutes.

Cheers…..

We are returning for 5th time in August 2013, we love the place. The staff are just great, they make your holiday. The food is very good, great choice. The restaurants are very good, I loved the fish and Italian, my wife liked the steak house and Mexico. A very clean place.

We stayed for 2 weeks at end of July and upgraded to a suite with jacuzzi. My boyfriend and I are in our 20s, pretty easygoing and usually happy with a few drinks, good meal and bit of sun. We have had amazing holidays in 3 star hotels and before going away said 'who cares enough to write a negative review on trip advisor!' ... This hotel has prompted me to write my first!

Ill start with the few positive things about this hotel!
-decent room cleaning
-fab excursions (just glad to be away from the hotel!)...buggys were great fun! Saona trip was gorgeous!
-lovely beaches

Now for the not so great...
-customer service is by far the worst I have ever experienced! We were told and expected that the dominican way can come off as abrupt, but there is abrupt and down right rude! Staff made every small request seem like a massive chore and made no effort to make our stay pleasurable.

-Spanish speaking guests! Now...these guys probably had a fab time...mainly because they are the hotels main source of income and the hotel seems to have solely their interests at heart! This was reflected in the constant drone of latin music making us feel like we were stuck in a lift for 2 weeks. Also the service at bars, where the spanish speakers were given obvious priority! In reality, the English speakers felt we were an afterthought, with little English spoken throughout the hotel by both staff and guests, which left us feeling a little isolated. I once asked if there was any english music (which wasn't gangnam style, crazy frog or its raining men) and I the responce was a shaking head not even a word! I wish Thomas cook had made us aware of this before.

-Nothing to do in the evening. We attended 2 shows during our holiday. The first was full of Puerto Rican private jokes which totally went over the heads of anyone who isn't familiar with Latin pop culture. And the second was the Michael Jackson show...I must give the entertainment staff credit for finding 3 Michael Jackson songs that no one we spoke to had ever heard of...when impersonating a man who sold millions of records it might be useful to sing ones that people actually know! I can only guess they were chosen so the audience didn't detect the awful lip syncing of the wrong words.
The only place open in the evenings was the hotel reception/lobby bar which was full of people looking sweaty and miserable in the non-air conditioned area again with the constant drone of Latin music!
We found ourselves in bed by 8.30 most evenings bored stiff!

-Dirty pool! Most hotels run the risk of a dirty pool when they install a pool bar and invite hoards of Puerto Rican guests (none of which we ever saw get out to use the loo) We noticed quite a bit of grime in the pool and as predicted 10 days into the holiday I got an ear infection...
On requesting to see the doctor I was told it was $150 just to see him/her (which I am sure is a figure they pluck out of the air as everyone I met who had asked to see the doctor was quoted a different amount!) ... I decided I'd rather put up with the earache!

-Food. For the first week we thought the food was brill. Big selection and plenty of it. But by week 2 our bodies had had enough of the greasy salty food they offered and it started to loose its magic.
The a la carte restaurants were a bit of a joke! basically the same food as the buffet, just plated up for you! With the exception of the Italian which was lovely...although we ordered a beer 5 times, from 3 different staff members, waited 50 minutes, ate 2 courses and were then told by a waiter that there was no beer...despite the fact we had been brought one 2 minutes earlier and sent it back because we had finished eating!

On a final note...if you still decide that you want to go here (I suggest you fork out the extra couple hundred and say somewhere better!) take lots of cash. Our HSBC cards wouldn't work in the hotel counter (they worked at the airport and excursion booth!). Things are very pricey and be prepared to fork out $30 when you get your sun lotion swiped!

The lovely people we met on this holiday and gorgeous beaches have stopped it getting a terrible review and we can't say that we didn't have any fun, because the excursions were wonderful. But needless to say we are glad to be hone won't be returning any time soon!
S&J!

The rooms were very old fashioned, the food was awful, crew service . the things that we liked were the beach, the pools and they have elevators to the rooms. and best was sirenis aquagames.

We checked in at 4:00 pm and the room's towels were delivered at 10:00pm, i was afraid with the food and kids. I had to return one of the cribs they brougth to my room because of bad smell and with cockroach ..We won't be back again.

Beautiful grounds ! fabulous beach !nice pools ! plenty of sunbeds around the pools and beach !loved the cocktails and a huge choice! beer ok but could be colder. We did have an overall lovely holiday but for us it was the constant Latin music drove us nuts ! absolutely no modern music what so ever no where to go to a bar and perhaps dance ?? every evening everybody had to go to the reception where the only bar was open apart from the a la carts there are just lots of sofas where every body just looked soooo bored !! there is a show at 9.30 which were good especially the Michael Jackson show . There was a late night disco but you had to pay for the drinks as is owned by another company .we were very lucky in that we met some lovely people which was brilliant because we would have just played cards all night as there was nothing else to do . There should be a bar by the pools or beach playing lively music you could dance to, there was simply no where else to go or do Finally the rip off safe policy 42dollars to hire then 50 dollars deposit for the key which if you lost you had to pay ! a big chunk of spending money in 1 hit ! it should be free and a code not a key !! Food ok ish !!The best part is the amazing trips !! take lots of dollars (not pesos) go to the reef explorer swimming with sharks and stingrays absolutely awesome . Horse riding is a must you dont need to be able to ride but its amazing galloping down beautiful beaches and countryside ! The buggies are great fun too . Monster trucks to see so much of the beautiful countryside villages and beeches , A catamaran trip to the breath taking Saona island is a must . A few moans but at the end of the day it is a reasonably priced hotel and you get what you pay for in this world . Wouldn't go again because of the night life shame really could so easily be rectified .

We love the place, staff are the best, we have visited many Caribbean islands where the staff are great, but Sirenis are the best. We are returning on 20th Aug 2013. The food is great, even the buffet, which has a great choice and changes every day. We would not return for our 5th time if it was not good, do not understand the bad reviews. When we are there we meet so many people who have been before. Been to Sandels twice, but always have had a greater time at Sirenis.
