“Wonderful time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

As with any out of the country vacation, you cannot expect absolute perfection. We learned that the first time we did a vacation out of the country. If you go with the expectations that it's going to be a 5 star, 5 diamond resort, you'll most likely be very disappointed, but at the same time, you could be pleasantly surprised. You just never know what to expect until you get there, but we always go knowing that their idea of certain things we would expect in the US is not generally what they do or have there. This particular resort is apparantly rather old and is definitely in need of some updates and maintenance, but it appears that they are working on it (it's their slow season right now). That being said, we had a wonderful trip! Our multiple concierges (Gabriel, Judith and Cesar - hi guys! miss y'all!) were always doing what they could to take care of us. And they did a wonderful job! :) The bartenders were great too! Wilson at the beach bar came up with a drink just for me, and it was wonderful! He always knew what we wanted the minute he saw us and took great care of us! Francis and Chalas were at the pool bar and also did a fantastic job taking care of us! There were many wonderful people on the staff. Tibrcio made me a CD of local music that he thought we would enjoy too! The maid did a good job cleaning, BUT the sheets did NOT fit the bed (which is like laying on concrete by the way - my hubby loved it, but not me), so it was somewhat short sheeted daily and I re-made the bed every night so that the sheets went from top to bottom. I folded the bedspread up and put it under the sheet on my side to help with the bed being hard. It helped, but not much. We didn't have wash cloths most of the time, and our A/C went from great to worse every day. It was cool, but not what we're used to. The Sirenis Club is an opportunity that you can definitely say no to. We are members of a club at another resort, but the plan is identical. If you travel a lot it is definitely worth it. If you don't, just say no. It gives you the opportunity to go places and spend almost nothing on your trip other than airfare and food, compared to paying full price. You don't have to listen to their spiel, just say no if you don't want to do it. They do give you a few freebies if you do though, and as a member of their club (which we're not) you get some upgraded perks too. You have to remember, it's like buying a car....they are sales people and that's how they get paid, so they do everything they can to try and sell you on the program. We adore the operations manager (Hola Gaby! xoxoxo), and her many friends (especially Glory!). Even though we aren't part of their club they made sure our stay was a great one! The food was really good for the most part. We loved the Italian and Japanese, but weren't thrilled with the Mediteranean. Just not our taste. And we did the gourmet restaurant (not included in the all inclusive), and it was wonderful! The buffet was pretty much the same daily, and like I said, it's a different country so you can't expect what you normally would expect. It is pretty good for the most part. It doesn't change much though. Pretty much the same at breakfast everyday. We went off-site to eat once, and it's a Palapa just around the corner (about 5 minutes by car) called Coco's. It was absolutely fantastic!!!! I can't say enough about the food or Coco! He's wonderful! He personally made sure everything was perfect for our dinner and we loved it! Also right there by Coco's are some souvenier shops, that are awesome! They have a lot more stuff than the resort, and some really neat stuff, and better prices. Oh, that is one thing. They let in local vendors several times a week and they are VERY aggressive! I don't like that, so we mostly went around them through the grass where they couldn't see us to avoid them. They also have a weekend package for the Dominican people that is apparently very affordable, so you'll see tons of extra people (lots and lots of kids) on Friday night thru Sunday afternoon. We usually go to adult/couple only resorts. This was our first "family" resort. I didn't know going topless was considered a family thing. I prefer resorts where they have their own area to do that, so I don't have to see them. Well, I saw more boobs than I've ever seen, coming here, so be aware of that. And it wasn't just young people either.... One male naked booty in the pool, one female wearing nothing but a thin t-shirt and floss (wet of course)....just not my thing and I was stunned that it was allowed at a "family" resort. I understand that different cultures are different, but WOW! We didn't go on any "excursions" but we did talk to several people that did and they all said they had a great time with each of them. We tried snorkling at the resort, but the water is just a bit to choppy for me. My hubby tried a few times too, and just couldn't see much (even though there is a lot of coral/reef to see) with the water like that. There were plenty of chairs every day at both the pool and beach. The beach was mostly clean. They were working on it most of the time. The wind blows so much that the sand has to be moved BACK to the beach where it's going away. They worked on the grounds a lot too, and were very pretty. There are many resident peacocks, and the photographers have several critters to take pics with. A spider monkey, iguana, 2-cocateils, 2-macaws and a snake. It was fun seeing parents and their kids taking pics with them. All in all it was a great 12 days! We've been to the DR before, but it was a different resort (adults only). We thought we'd give this one a try because of Gaby working there (she's not from the DR, she's new there). It's a great place for families if you overlook the topless people (I know that isn't an issue with a lot of people..just me), and know how to deal with the vendors. Oh, and they have a waterpark too (we're too old for that, so they didn't bother us with it). Oh, and the spa, well, what can I say........it needs work, and I've been to much better (at a different resort IN the DR). So, go, take your family, friends, or whoever and have a wonderful time! :) I can't think of anything else to report right now, so I hope that I have helped to give all of you an idea of what to expect there. :) Have fun! :D

fantastic resort, food was good and plentiful with lots of choice, the rooms were simple but adequate and the cleaner came in every day. the pools were clean, and with plenty of activities you can join in with, or just relax in the pool bar or on the white sandy beach, there is entertainment every evening and some of the shows are very good. the staff are very friendly and helpful could'nt do enough for you. all in all a very good and relaxing holiday, well worth the money. we are hoping to return again next year.

Stayed at this resort for two weeks with my family. Amazing location situated on a private beach. Food was brilliant, everyday there was something new to try always fresh as well. We had a choice of around 6 restaurants to choose from to eat ranging from Mediterranean to Japanese. The hotel had many activities on offer for adults and kids brilliant for families as well this went on throughout the whole day. Evening entertainment was excellent everything was very well organised. the service was one of the best parts of the holiday the staff gave amazing customer service always smiling and helpful this really made a great impact on the holiday. The swimming pools were great alongside with the pool bars and snack bars on the beach. our rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The spa was excellent also had a lot of beauty treatments on offer as well. I have nothing bad to say about this trip it was one of the best I have been on.

On my second return to the Sirenis cocotal it was the same friendly and warming atmosphere as i remembered! The staff were as friendly and as helpful as always. The food was great with a wide variety of choice and superb A la carte restaurants. In the day you can either find a quite spot on the beach or join in the fun and games by the pool with the staff. The evening shows were especially amazing and it really showed the amount of hard work and talent that the team put in to put on a good show each evening! The hotel was always immaculate and our room was also cleaned to high standards each day. The waterpark was great value for money and included food and drink all day. i would highly recommend this resort to anyone and i will personally be returning this year :)

Room Tip: The superior suites are worth paying a little extra for!

Stayed here in October 2010. Rooms were of a very low standard and in desperate need of refurbishment. Food was excellent, especially the Japanese a la carte. Weekend was a nightmare when the locals all turned up, not their fault but would not choose to stay here again on this basis alone. Would travel to the Dominican again but would spend more and certainly stay on the Caribbean side rather than the Atlantic side of the island.

Me, my husband, and family celebrated xmas 2011 at this resort, 1st time travellers to Punta Cana. it was not all of what we thought it would be! The food was not the greatest. The booze was not what we asked for or what they portrayed it to be. we had centipede looking crawlers along our suite floor and bathroom and bedding. tv's or wi-fi didn't work properly in rooms. Wi-Fi in lobby ok but you hAD TO PAY$$$.

Room Tip: if you are planning on visiting Punta Cana, i would recomend staying on Bavaro Beach. It is centeral...
