Me and my partner stayed at the sirenis from Aug 25th till 8th sept we just missed Hurricane Irene but from the day we landed till we came home the weather was scorching hot above 30 degrees everyday. How can anybody complain about this hotel we were in C block just 5 min walk to the beach and 2 mins the pools they are cleaned everyday with lovely swans made from towels as you enter ya rooms fab!! food was lovely plenty to choose from each night try the mexican & steakhouse they great. The dominican people are so freindly and you strike a great personality with them you do get hassle from concierge but just say NO!! and they get the message. There is only one problem though and i hate it. IM BACK HOME. so dont listen to bad reveiews this place is fantastic value for money and if we cant find anywhere next year then we will be back for sure.

Room Tip: they are all great and well located

The grounds are lovely but the suites that our family had were very outdated and shabby. My sister had booked a room for herself and daughter they arrived a day earlier than the rest of us, her room stank so much she could not stay in it. she asked to be moved but they would only let her have another room in the same smelly block. She had to pay an exrta $400.00 to move into a suite( the suites were only about 1/2 full anyway as it was the end of Aug. plus hurricane Irene was passing by)we all found that the maid service was very good apart from cleaning the floors properly. The staff spoke mainly Spanish or French so communication was sometimes difficult. The bar staff were rude and miserable. the waitresses/waiters were much more pleasant and helpfull. The entertainment staff were great! they never seem to stop working, the shows were good but a little too much of a ballet influence (Danny from Grease doing ballet didn't quite work I have to say!). How many Concierge's trying to get you to buy a time share can one hotel have, OMG. You have to book to eat in the restaurantsthey were always telling us that they were fully booked when they wern't the Steak House the Japanese and the gourmet were the nicest. The beaches running along the hotels were nice and clean but if you walk any further they are littered with rubbish and bottles ect.

Room Tip: very tired and outdated rooms with dingy lighting and shabby decor. leaking toilet left a puddle eve...

Great hotel - nice rooms, staff very friendly great food. Hotel is located on a quite beach in Uvero Alto about 45 mins from the airport. Wide sandy beach great water for swimming. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. This hotel is perfect for every age.
If you intend on doing some shopping whilst there be sure to walk down the beach apx 10 -15 to visit Tropical Treasure (Gundula's). The yellow house with the white Taino statues outside. You will pass one other small store on the way it is more expensive and has nothing like Tropical Treasure. Gundula is german and her husband is Dominican. Very professional but casual. They have the usual coffee, rum, cigars, cigarettes but sell them for less than all the other beach huts. They have many other really nice things clothes, t shirts, decorator items, loads of jeweler y including larimar & amber. There is an artist on site you can watch him painting. They also have cold beer, pop, water and chips. They like it when you hang around have a drink, lay in their hammocks and enjoy. Where else in the world can you go shopping right on the beach in your bathing suit drink a cheap beer and be welcome!
Don't forget to ask to see Rambo!! Check out their face book page Tropical Treasure

I stayed at sirenis from the 18th august till the 1st September, the time i spent there was the best time of my life.
I honestly dont know how anyone could give a BAD review of this hotel, you may read many bad reviews and think oh theres lots of bad reviews dont go there, most people who right bad reviews have nothing better to do, because they cant talk to anyone about a great holiday, ignore every bad review...

I flew from manchester flight wasnt as bad as it seems, arrived at the airport within 10 minutes we was on the coach ready to go!
I must warn you if you have never been to dominican that you do have to pay about $20 to get in the country for imagration stuff and around the same amount to get out the country! Not a problem though. It was an Hours transfer from punta cana to Sirenis, the drive there is very educating seeing the real dominican republic.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by cocktails and the bellboys jesus and franklin take your bags straight to your rooms checkin was very quick and easy.
We arrived in our room which was very clean and tidy, our room was L007 in the Tropical Suites...
All of our Gadgets as you call them are very safe in the safe, which you pay $50 for and get it all back at the end of the holiday.
There is free wifi in the reception lobby.
Theres lots of peacocks everywhere and also have lots of babys at the moment which are very cute hehe!!
Oh yes and please note that when you booked the holiday it may say its a 4* hotel it isnt it's a 5* i think it has recently been upgraded to a 5* as it has 5 stars outside the front gates, and everything says 5*...

FOOD- WOW!!! Theres lots of choice morning, Lunch and tea there is also a BBQ on the beach which is Beautiful when your out and dont want to go back to your room to get dressed and dry... The food is well set out that it looks to nice to eat. The Waiters are at your table as soon as your seated serving water and drinks for all, they are very friendly aswell
Ohh yes about the water- all the food is washed in fresh water, the ice is fresh water, the water in drinks is fresh, all the water served to you is fresh water, the only water at isnt is the showers and taps... Ice and that outside of the hotel isnt good water to drink
Dinner has a dress code aswell it is that all men have sleeved shirts on(not long sleeves dont worry) but basically not vest tops/beach wear
We went to the italian resturant wasnt the best thing in the world, we only went to the italian because the conciérge service booked you in for when they wanted you to go and where they wanted you to go.. They dont really say much about time share either,,,

LOCATION- Location isnt great but the hotel is all inclusive you dont need to go out the hotel, you could go there without a penny and you would last, all the food is there in the hotel, drinks, beach is there, shops are there for gifts.

WEATHER- Weather was Lovely for the first 4/5 days until the Hurricane Irene past over us, then 3 days of rain and storms after but it was hurricane and rain season so expect it, the sun was soon back out and tanning was back in business...

BEACH- Beach is Beautiful you can walk all the way up goung right of the beach to a shop called tropical treasures which is a gift shop and that x

LOCALS- Locals didn't seem to be a problem at all, they came on friday and left sunday afternoon they mainly hang around the pool bars and that, so quiet simply go to the beach for the day because they hardly on the beach...
On the evening they are in the bars but where never really a problem
I'm a teenager and only had one local talk to me telling me i was pretty, but didnt really bother me because i could just walk away or ignore him...

EXCURSIONS- We went on the Carribean Festival which is swimming with the sting-rays and sharks, which was pretty amazing because you also get to go snorkelling in the coral reefs, we swam with the dolphins and had a great day, we also did the mega trucks tour which was amazing, you get to see the dominican, see the coffee and cocoa plants, visit the local schools, horse riding, and more, we found this worth the money by far...
We spoke to another family that went to catalina island and they loved it that much they went twice in there stay...

STAFF- I have left this till last for a reason, simply because theres so much to say about them!!!
They are the nicest, most friendly, smiley people you will EVER meet...
They were perfect, dinner staff were onto you as soon as you sat down serving fresh water and ordering drinks for you all, clear your table as soon as your finished and always so friendly and smiling, they always refer white coffee to michael jackson coffee which is cool.. Also refer black and white cows to michael jackson, they do it with lots of things.
Bellboys- they were great always in order of bags and they are always walking round doing stuff, they never stand still, these were franklyn and jesus (they dont pronounce it jesus by the way, they pronounce it more like hey sus)..
The beach and pool bar staff are amazing people, orlando, dariel, and alberto were my favourite's in the day.. They started to know you well because most the time they start to know what you drink and already make a start when you get there...
Bar staff at night were the best of them all, i looked forward to the evening because its always such a friendly atmosphere at the bottom bar la pergola, the bar men know you that well that they saw my dad coming and had his drink on the counter as soon as he sat down... They're always high fiving and giving you popcorn... There are so many nice people there, theres to many to name but i will, Theres, Johan, Manuel, Polarco, Salserin, Henry, Juan Carlos, gaspar, Melvin and more they are excellent in every way...

It is nice when they say stuff to you in spanish aswell, everyone says hola to you, always says gracias for thank-you, sí for yes, salut for cheers... No mas means no more, adios for goodbye.. So if you know abit of spanish get in there and speak it they do appreciate it, because just remember your in there country, we should speak abit of there language, because we'd expect it if they come to our country...

I hope all of you have an amazing holiday which i did, could not fault anything of this hotel, it is amazing for all of the family and always things to do, you will never get bored even by the wildlife on sight, we found a few wild snakes by our room, a dead tarantula, praying mantis on our patio, lots of lizards by the lights on the path at night so look out for them...
Have an amazing time there...
I will 10000000% be returning to is hotel, it is literally paradise and so much to say about but got to give up now because i'll go on forever!!!

We stayed at Sirenis the week that Hurricane Irene came by. The hurricane obviously made the vacation more windy but it was a great experience. Everything was good, the Japanese restaurant was fantastic, the buffet food was great, there was always plenty of variety. (Steakhouse wasn't so good, I hear the Mexican is the one to try!)

Before I came to Sirenis, I told my colleague from work about my trip. She is Domincan and works in the hospitality industry. She said the resort was fine but to watch out for the staff because they are known to be lacking in professionalism. My experiences agree!! The weather was still rainy after the hurricane had passed but the pool bar remained open. There were 6 of us at the pool bar and the servers kept giving us more and more drinks. We ended up drinking more then we normally would because the drinks kept getting put in our hands by the bartenders. And the drinks were being mixed with 151.... they were really strong! So strong that one of the ladies travelling with us became so intoxicated pool staff had to pull her out of the pool because she couldn't do it on her own. I wish the staff had been told to stop serving drinks to people when they became too intoxicated, I ended up having to call it a night far before my bedtime that evening.

Nonetheless, the resort was beautiful. After coming back home I spent my time looking at images of Sirenis on Google Maps and I realized just how much bigger and more beautiful it is compared to the other resorts in Punta Cana. So much beach space to explore at Sirenis. You'll love it!

Our 2nd trip to Serenis and another fantastic holiday despite Hurricane Irene. The staff worked tirelessly to keep us entertained when confined to the lobby areas when beach and pool out of bounds. The rooms are clean and are as described. You know when you book that the room has 2 double beds and a longe area and that is exactlyh what you got. If it is a romantic holiday you are after do not take your children or book a seperate suite !
Sea weed worse this year due to the storm. Once it had passed it reduced significantly and it was swept 3 times a day you could not ask for them to try any harder to keep on top of it..It was not a problem and did not affect us swimming ..
Yes breakfast is a little repeteative but what else can you offer ? As usual plenty of moaners who always had full plates and seconds too ! The locals were not a problem on either of our trips. Yes they speak loudly but so do plenty of others especially those partaking at the bars all day !
No it is not a 5 star resort but if that is what you want then go to an adult only hotel or platenum grade.
A great safe place for a fun filled family holiday !

Armed guards on the beach should have perhaps highlighted that pushy salesmen were there to hassle you even on a short walk away from the hotel. Infact they were there to keep you IN so that the concierge salesmen and women could do their best to sell you time shares or trips. They are only too happy to book your measily 2 nights per week at the plastic pop-up a-la-carte restaurants, but when it came to asking for extra nights we go a flat 'no'. So beware of their cheesy lines 'hello family from...England??' we ended up not even replying as was so damn annoying to be so falsly 'jollied'.

The rooms were very basic. Saw another one from block R, our room was shabby, the patio side door had been previously forced and the screws were hanging loose. However, we did mention the shower which did not work well due to heavy limescale, and the very same day they changed the whole shower unit, so we had water jets and a much better supply...The bath beneath our feet though was sad, where they had painted in gloss paint the areas of decay...not great, came off on your feet! The sink plug hole was rusty. Tiling was poor, but yes, you do expect to get a bit 'rustic' but at a 2 star, not a 5 star!

We were hoping and thought we had booked a 2 bedroom apt., turned out it was 2 small doubles together in one bedroom. Not ideal when you have 2 children to share with.

The first week was great, lots of sunbathing. We however like a bit more to do, the hotel being very isolated was lacking in much outside atmosphere. it could have been anywhere...tropical, so OK....lovely palm trees and our room even had a sea view!

Food. A bit average. We found no steak at the buffet? I saw another reviewer who said they found steak....escaped us. The buffet was not air conditioned, we found eating a functional rather than a pleasurable experience. Unfortunately being a big foodie, we found it a chore, the tiny wine glasses were sometimes topped up and sometimes not, so you found yourself 'pacing' what you drank as they did not leave bottles on the table...you had to take pot luck that the wine waiter noticed you were dry. I personally don't like the experience of jostling with a plate at the hotplates waiting for people, being barged about, and then trying to find a table for the 8 of us to be (two families together).

The a-la-carte were a better option. I found it strange they were never full inspite of the concierge saying that ohh...can't manage 8p, can you do 6.30 or 9pm...all an act, they can cater for another 50% at these restaurants, but seemingly choose to take a lazy option of working to a low capacity. With the menus being so limited, cooking for 30 or 60 would not make a difference.

Our party of 8 - 6, had the 'trots', one of us was nearly hospitalised. There was a doctor which we paid 540 USD to see for the initial consultation, jab and rehydration costs, so take plenty of emergency cash with you. Now back in England tests are underway to see if there is a more serious underlying problem as the main victim is still unwell 4 days after getting back.

The second week we had the onset of Hurricane Irene. The hotel were very quick to react, glass areas were boarded up, the beach was taped off and the sunbeds put into the pool to stop them blowing away. We were told to stay in our rooms for the first day, only leaving for something to eat and then back again. But the weather was set then for the rest of the holiday, thunder, lightening, high wind and rain...so was a bit of a downer to have the last 4 days a total wash-out, as now even sunbathing was off the agenda.

Sorry to be so negative, there were some funny times too....when my husband was covering his head jumping around with lightening crashing at his feet...we had gone out of the hotel and had got rather too much excitement! We had walked with my sister-in-law down the beach, and come across where we thought should short cut through to a parade of shops, but got intercepted by a guy who took us to his family shack where 5 shops in a row full of the same junk was forced upon us.....we did escape only to find the shops we were looking for still had the same stock and same patter about sending money to people in Hati etc....we did end up buying some crud, but only from the more local 'shack' on the beach right next to the hotel, were some items were priced and haggle-free.

The braiding for the girls hair started off at 130 USDs! What a joke, even in the end I think we paid 50 USDs for the 2 heads....what suckers we are...

Staff were friendly, spa a bit of a joke, food very average, drinks - watered down or very cheap cocktail mixers. Room, for us not big enough. Atmosphere, boot camp functional.

Room Tip: If unhappy complain, we did ask to move right away, but were told they were full and to try again on...
