I just got back from 5 nights at this resort, Feb 23-28. Let me start with the positive things at this resort: Most of the staff we came into contact with are very friendly and try to do their best to help you. However, they speak very little English, but it wasn't a big deal to us. We thought that the grounds were very clean, and we never saw any bugs. The ecological spa was very relaxing and worth the money. The ocean and pools were gorgeous.Get there early if you want to sit in the shade...I saw people put their stuff on chairs at the beach and at the pool early. Ocean waves are very large, be careful. If you want snacks, bring your own. Chips were 8 bucks a bag at the store on the resort.
Negatives: We got what they called a Superior Room. The room was not nice...there was paint stains everywhere, on the curtain to the patio, on the bedding, on the floor. It looked as though they put the bedding on the floor and then painted the walls. There was only one sheet and a nasty stained comforter to sleep with, our room was always freezing. Our room was on the other side of resort, away from the beach and main lobby. The air condition vent was towards the ceiling on the wall and the air blew right on you. They gave us two beds instead of one king bed. Bring an extra small blanket, I would have been miserable without mine. The air conditioner was always on 72 and you could not change it. The only option was to turn it off, then it was really hot and humid. There was a very musty smell in the room also. We had random power outages for two days of our stay...I think the entire resort had them. Luckily they did not last too long. We were on the other side of the resort, so we had no idea what was going on...good luck trying to get someone at the front desk. They never answered any of my phone calls. One night we had no water, the toilet would not flush either. We tried to call the front desk and no answer. We ended up walking to the other side to the lobby just to see what was going on. The front desk informed us we would have water at 11 that night. Do not get a room on the other side of the resort, it is near a disco and we did not sleep for days. It is so LOUD. There are a lot of Europeans and Russians at this resort, very few Americans. Now to the food: Luckily I had read reviews and decided I was going to really watch what I ate. I pretty much ate no meat, and never got sick. Nobody explains to you when arriving how the a la cart restraunts work. You pretty much have to go get a ticket, then go stand in line at 8am to make a reservation. Strangly enough, we were the 4th people in line and by the time we got up there, only one restraunt was available. There is obviously another way of getting reservations. We ate at the steakhouse and the seafood place...I would have preferred the buffets to be honest. The buffet had a good selection of food, but nothing great. But we never got sick. Get there early. We spent 2700.00 on this trip...I think was about 1000.00 more then what it should have been. The people and the beautiful beaches saved this vacation for me. I may go back to the DR again some day, but not to this resort.
Room Tip: Do not get the Superior room on the other side of the resort, the area by the disco and swimup bar p...

Dear Katie M.
I am sorry to read that the room we gave you It was not what you expected, also the problem with the air, which I will personally review and I appreciate you call my attention on this.
On the water issue, it was a day we not had and there was no electrcity outside the hotel and our water supplierdid not have either. Our power plant, gives power to the entire complex, but less air, this is not something that happens constantly. I regret that this happened to you, during your stay.
We want you to return, the hotel will be completely remodeled and the majority of staff will continue with the joy of serving.
Sincerely yours,
