“Amazing!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

We are Grand Level members of th e Occidental Vacation Club and stay in the Royal Club. We have been members for approximately seven years and always choose to go to the Occidental Grand Flamenco Punta Cana. We are truly treated like Royalty. The upgraded rooms are gorgeous and the service was amazing. We just visited and stayed from 11/5/11-11/16/11. We were able to enjoy two weddings on the beach, one was an Indian wedding, it was lovely!!! Also, being a member of the vacation club, we were able to take part in the barbeque on the beach which included lobster!!! There was also live entertainment and fireworks. The staff at the restaurant were wonderful and the food superb. No complaints, except for too much rain....that can't be helped...still managed to get a tan. Better than the weather in upstate New York...We are definetly making a return trip next November!!!!

Room Tip: You may want to ask for a room away from the outside lunch buffet. This becomes a "disco"...

We arrived on Christmas day ( 2011 ) and stay for 6 nights and 7 days. This resort have very nice plants and the lobby was big and you feel very welcome, they gives us ( we were 16 ppls ) everyone a very refreshing glass of no alcoholic fresh fruits punch juice , and the check-in was pretty fast. The resort is big and with a golf cart they ride us to our pavilion .

This resort is really beautiful with nice tropical plants, greats pools ( and many ! ) and its was really clean all the time ! ( They have a lot of employees to keep this big place sharp and clean, and all of them salute you ! ( Or me bcause i'm pretty boy... LOL joke. )). Every night they have different shows on a nice outside stage and we rarely get bored. In the morning you can learn to dance too, i didn't tried but looked interesting.

The bedroom was clean, A/C was working fine, the tv channels are great, the shower was not bad so no complaint. They give us a small bottle of good local Rum ( i forgot the name ) at the room and was a good one... i was surprise. They always feel up the fridge with some good beers ( El Presidente ) and Coca-cola bottles.

The beach was beautiful and clean. The food was good with a good selection of choice. A La Carte restaurant was great except for the Asian one i didn't really liked it but was not bad, it's just me.

There's a small village outside of the resort.... the ppls are nice but be aware that they stick on you and really want you to come inside their stores to buy stuff, be gentle and refuse it in a good way or with a fake smile ; )... don't take it badly.

I Have too much to say but i will finish now by telling you is it my first time in a resort all include, ( I did many other trip, but no resort in never in the Caribbean ) so mayb i'm more easy to please..... but what ever i said is the true. Have a good time my friends :).

This was my second trip to this resort this time with my sister. We were there from Nov 6-13 2011. Room was spacious and kept very clean. Toilet was slow to flush. Food was great and the resort had everything to keep us busy. The nightly entertainment was spectacular!!!!! The tribute to Micheal Jackson was beyond belief!!!! The staff were friendly and exceeded our expectations. Once person I must give credit too once again Is Israel Perez (customer service rep) he went beyond the call of duty to make sure my stay was enjoyable, This young man gives 110% of himself to his work, He is kind, caring, compasionate and truly an assest to the Occidental Grand Punta Cana. You go boy!!!! I think one day he may run this resort!! Despite me getting too much sun and ending up a the hospital Isreal was there to see me through till the end. Because of him I will be back in 2012 only this time in the shade of the palm trees!!!!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are great for fast exit to pool, beach, and food!!

When visiting the Occidental Grand Flamenco, Punta Cana, don’t expect to be swept off your feet. This property is showing its age, but the location on the beach is spectacular. The soft powdery sand and active water (nice waves to play in) compensates for other areas that this property lacks. The pools are nice and centrally located throughout the property. The rooms are in need of updating, specifically the bathrooms. Attention to details has not been a strong point with the property management nor the engineers.

We found the attentiveness of the staff left a lot to be desired, except for Ruth Delania (she works at the Italiano, she was wonderful). When requesting something, like coffee, it takes a while. Turning tables at the buffet also seemed to take a lot of time. The food was good overall and the entertainment was fun. If you are looking to spend most of the time on the beach or by the pool, this is a great place.

The resort was beautiful. We booked a one bedroom suite which worked out great as we had our 24-year old daughter with us. The separate living room and extra bath gave us all our own space. There was no hot water after 7:00 PM or so, which was problematical on the days we took excursions. Otherwise, we got around that by heading back from beach between 5:30 - 6:00. Be sure to tip the person who cleans your room. We did and found pretty towel swans decorating our bed. Thanks Osvaldo!

We found the buffets to be quite plentiful with lots of variety. Our favorite was the breakfast buffet with hot out of the oil churros dipped in cinnamon, made to order omelets and fruit smoothies. We tried three of the four a-la-cart restaurants and found the Oriental one to be quite good while the steakhouse and Italian were only so so. Reservations for these restaurants must be made by 12 noon each day so plan ahead or make multi-day reservations at once. While we found this a little odd, it seems to work and no doubt helps them to properly plan their food purchases.

We did the 1/2 day Zip Line Canopy Tour and had a BLAST! A definite must for those with a sense of adventure! We also took the day trip to Saona Island. The jet boat ride was fun and we were rewarded with the most crystal clear blue water I've ever seen and a delicious barbecue on the beach. We also enjoyed the catamaran ride back but be prepared for a booze cruise, frat party, spring break atmosphere. Not sure all are like that but ours was.

Arrange for airport transportation. Do not rent a car. The roads are not well marked. Also, no need to exchange money. We found dollars were accepted just about everywhere.

All the staff we met were very nice, especially Patrick and the waiter at breakfast (wish I remembered his name). We had such a nice time we're thinking about going back again next year.

Room Tip: Nightly entertainment can get a little loud. If wanting to sleep before 11:00 PM ask for a room awa...

My husband and I checked in for a 5 day getaway. I realized we made a mistake as soon as we pulled up to the lobby which was crowded, shabby, and smoked filled. Our room was dingy despite being recently refurbished as per the website. Toilet barely worked, refrigerator didn't work at all, and the AC was very loud. We were also surprised to find 2 full beds pushed together vs the king that we booked. There was a patio but no patio furniture. The dining hours for dinner are rather strange in that they start at 7pm so when we checked in at 4 the only food available was meat dogs and french fries at a grungy hut. The resort was overbooked so at 7:30 am we couldn't find a seat. .After traveling a great distance we decided that this just wouldn't do and fortunately were able to continue our stay at the Hard Rock. What a huge difference. If you are looking for a cheap low budget trip go for it. However if you appreciate the finer things in life and a sophisticated resort environment consider another resort.i

Room Tip: upgrade if u can
