“Nothing Extraordinary, but Well worth the stay !!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Probably the best thing about this Riu are the grounds. The hotel is beautifully maintained, and everything is clean and newly renovated. The pool is beautiful with a peaceful waterfall, good amount of lounge chairs available, a bar right behind it and large trees that make you feel nice and tucked away. The lobby, bar and restaurant all look brand new and the hotel is very clean. The rooms have a liquor dispenser with 4 full bottles of alcohol that is refilled every 2 day!!! also stocked with beer, soda, coke and water in the fridge. The bathroom was great, big shower, brand new, and super clean, good water pressure. We had a room facing the pool so we had an awesome relaxing view of the pool and the bar downstairs (room 325). The night time staff, including the front desk, bartenders, buffet staff were soo welcoming and accommodating, much more so than the daytime staff.

The walk to the beach and the nightclub Pacha is maybe less than 5 mins with a few nice shops along the way. Best to go to Pacha night club after 12, thats when it gets live, so drink up at the hotel until its time to go b/c the bar at pacha is not free. The beach was AMAZINGGG!!!! Pool bar/restaurant, beach volleyball and soccer, loud music and only about 3-4 locals selling things along the beach but they were not over bearing or annoying at all. As soon as you say "no thanks" they move on.

The entertainment/animacion team is absolutely AMAZING. We watched the show every night and were absolutely impressed by the variety and quality of the shows. It was always a great fun time, some shows included the audiance while others had performers and a live band and singer on the side along with dancing at the end until the bar closed..During the day the animacion team would set up various games or fun things to do by the pool with some good music, however other than that there was really nothing to do at this hotel.

The BAD PARTS ABOUT THIS HOTEL. Worst thing is the food. The buffet was the exact same selection for lunch and dinner with very little variety and never really tasted that great anyway. By the 2nd day we dreaded having to eat because it was the same and nothing new! Best buffet is the breakfast, mostly because you really cant go wrong with eggs and toast, but the highlight of breakfast was the fresh smoothies. However if you've been to cuba, the food is no where near as terrible as it is in cuba. So If you can handle cuban food, you really wont mind this food. The hotel literally only has a pool, thats it! No spa, no hot tub etc just a pool and a fake beach that no one goes to. We went to the Rui Bavaro a couple times to use the spa and eat the food there just to change it up. Also english is probably the LAST language everyone speaks. My friend was surprised that literally everyone spoke every other language than english. Spanish, French and Russian are the dominant languages.

Overall I would say this is a 3+ Star hotel and would go here again based on the low price which makes it definitely well worth the stay. The Dominican republic in general is a beautiful country that we just fell in love with!!! The city, the ppl, the diversity was beautiful. If you are a savvy and responsible traveler i would recommend going off the resort. We went out partying to the REAL Dominican spots and had the best and safest experience ever.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool and close to the elevator. There is only 4 elevators in the middle wh...

My stay at the Riu Naiboa was very disappointing. The food was the worst. Doesn't taste good at all, they rarely have meat or chicken, mostly pork and fish, no seafood, no variety between lunch and dinner. The special Italian restaurant which requires a reservation has no pasta, but meat, which was also not good. The room is ok, clean. The pool has too many kids running, screaming and throwing water all over. You have 90 minutes of free wifi a day only at the lobby. They charge you US$10 a day for wifi at the Hotel facility including the pool and the rooms. I've requested to move to another Riu (I highly recommend Riu Palace Bavaro, where I moved to and Riu Palace Macao that is adult's only) and they didn't help me until I demand to speak with the Director. Then I moved to Riu Palace Bavaro, where my vacations really started. All Riu's but Naiboa are on the beach, Naiboa is a block from the beach.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a room with window to the Hotel Entry and not to the Pool.

I went to the riu in December 2011 for the New Year! I paid very cheap at the last minute for this flight is the most expensive of the year. I read a bad review and I was afraid to regret but I loved it! The hotel is simple but adorable! The beach is one of the most beautiful I've seen, very large. For young adults, there is a nightclub or near the riu customers can go, the Pasha, great for this time of year .. but go past midnight or it is empty. For food, I'm not a fan of buffet but it was still good! The other restaurant of the hotel also has a buffet. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the beach but the path to get there has several small shops interresting! There is also a small snack bar on the beach where he serves a buffet similar to the hotel but we no longer moving.

this is not a 5 ***** , it's a 4! I can't compare with other 4 because this is my first but for the price I paid, it was not unpleasant !!

The food here sucks. The variety is extremely poor. For lunch you only find two types of meats, and they looked terrible. Although the food doesnt taste too bad, I've never been in a hotel without varieties of food.

But the infraestructure of the hotel is very nice and clean.

we have been back home 3 weeks and even now ive got to say not impressed at all ,which is a shame as it took so long to get there(England), the hotel was lovely to look at and the pool but the food so much of the same thing by the end of 2 weeks me and my husband were sick of the same food over and over again, and i really never saw a theme night on the food it all looked the same .the thomson rep (juilain)spoke the worst english, which was really frustrateing trying to book trips out, which we found on one trip he had totelly sold us some thing differant to what we wanted ( the aquamarine walk) yes we did do the walk which lasted about half an hour the rest of the day was being moved from boat to boat to catamaran with a lot of drinking going on which i really dont mind but from 7.30 in the morning it was to much it was more of a party boat not an adventure as we were told and sold, the room was clean but to give this hotel a 4 star no way more of nearly a 3,would i send my family and freinds there its a no, the location is not great, it was a walk to the beach and some days it was to hot to bother, you do all so feel slightly traped as you cant really leave the riu complex on the evening, we asked the staff were there was to go and thay all said no where ,im sorry if it sounds like im bashing this hotel but honestly im not ,just telling the truth,

Room Tip: ask for one faceing the pool, if you get the front of the hotel you get the carpark

Have just returned from a 1week stay at the Naiboa and found it to be a rather Jekyl and Hyde kind of place. Not many Brits there when we were, mostly Germans,Dutch and Spanish.
The general hygiene was good.
The food on the whole was disappointing, just stacked high with no real flare or taste.
The staff, with the exception of the entertainment staff,we're sullen and unhelpful......the entertainment staff were absolutely fantastic.
The pool and the grounds were superb and only a few moments walk to a well run hotel guests only beach.
The rooms are simple but comfortable.
On the whole I would only recommend the Naiboa if you can get a good price......

The hotel personnel is very friendly, the quality of the food is good, but they should offer more variety, no direct access to the beach but it is just a 5 minute walk, the room was clean but in the bathroom they should have put more attention to details when installing the tiles. The drinks in the bar were excellent and good service, excellent pool. On the way to the beach there are some stores where you can buy some souvenirs. There is a restaurant and bar on the beach where you can get something while you are on the beach. At night they have lights and a security guard at the beach so it is safe to have night walks on the beach. The shows they offer give you good entertainment too.
